Additional info & updates

10/29 Appalachian acceptance came in a #10 white envelope to my parents' house.

11/5 Received large white envelope from Appalachian with Trustee's Scholar Merit Scholarship (100% of Tuition).

12/14 Received large white envelope from Valpo with acceptance folder.

2/13 Starting to wonder if my acceptance letter from John Marshall got lost in the mail so I called the admissions office. they told me they were waiting for something, but she couldn't open my file so she couldn't tell me. Hmmm... it was nice of them to notify me they were missing something! :(

2/14 Contacted JM and they said they never received a transcript from LSDAS and I'm supposed to call them.
-Called LSDAS and was told my transcript was sent on December 22 and the school needs to call their 'rep.' Such a pain! Happy Valentine's Day.....

3/9 I hate playing this waiting game.

3/23 Received a letter from Ave Maria encouraging me to apply. That was easy. I did.

3/31 Why am I still waiting for schools I applied to in October? ARG... I've called each of them and they said my app is with the admissions committee. how long does it take???

4/13 Received email from Ave Maria informing me of my acceptance with a $10,000/year scholarship.

4/15 wtf??? wait listed at JMLS????? not happy. not happy one bit. (with a guaranteed spot Jan '07)

4/25 waitlisted at Marquette. the notice says i may not find out until the DAY BEFORE CLASSES BEGIN! (good thing i'm cool with spontaneity)

crossing my fingers for Marquette--

5/5 happy cinco de mayo!! received a phone call from Quinnipiac today and I'm in!! wooo hooo!

5/16 Received $15,000/year scholarship from Quinnipiac. saweet! looks like i'll be takin a trip to CT this summer to check things out. sending in the $200 seat deposit today

Anyone visit John Marshall Chicago? I haven't gotten there yet-- just wondering what it's like.

6/19... applying way late in the game to UND. it's cheaper, a T3 school (better than JMLS), and i have a place to stay here for free. lookin good.

6/30 Just got back from connecticut. QU is unbelievably beautiful. if i had to pick a law school on aesthetics alone... qunnipiac is definitely a winner. the website doesn't do it justice. if you'd like to go to a beautiful campus, go there. sent in my $600 seat deposit. called U of North Dakota today and found out i will be informed in mid-july via a phone call.

7/17 Received a phone call from Marquette asking if I'm still interested in attending. Also, they were wondering if I would consider switching to the part-time evening program (I applied for the PT day program). I said sure... so we will see.

7/18 Received letter in the mail from Marquette and I'm in!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Woo hoo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

7/19 Surprised to get a rejection from UND. Oh well, looks like I'm a 1L at Marquette, baby!

I'm thinking about going to Appalachian. Are you going to the open house April 1. Do you know anything about the law school? I have heard some really bad things and I have heard some okay things.

Sorry about Marquette... I have a feeling they will be accepting a good number of people from their wait list this year. I think you'll be one of them! Have you had much contact with their admissions office? If so, how did they treat you? Good luck!

Question abou JMLS
Tuesday, April 04 2006 at 08:00 PM

Hi there, Congrats on your acceptances! I have a question about John Marshall that maybe u could help me with. I was waitlisted for fall 06. Do you know how I should go about applying for Spring 07 (which I'd much rather prefer)? Do I have to submit a whole new application? All I got in my envelope was a sheet of paper saying I was waitlisted. There was nothing about Fall 07 at all. Any suggestions or ideas?? I'd really like to go spring 07. THANKS! Heather

hold tight

I'm sure you've noticed...but Marquette is pulling people off the wait list...and it's pretty early...I would think you've a good shot at getting in. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.

Thursday, February 16 2006 at 07:00 PM

On ur acceptances, where are you going to attend?

Friday, October 21 2005 at 08:00 PM

I was semi-surprised that I was waitlisted at JMLS, oh well, life goes on. I was thinking about attending Nova anyway because when I looked at the stats for JMLS on USNEWS the attrition rate caught my eye. It looks really fishy. According to USNEWS, if you add up all the years, 40% of the original class eventually leaves the school or fails out. Seems very shady to me. I probably won't request admission for spring semester because I am already in at Nova for fall-fulltime, unless somebody explains to me the extremely high attrition rate at JMLS.

Tuesday, September 27 2005 at 08:00 PM

Not only did I visit JMLS, I attended for two weeks. It is NOT the school anyone would want to attend. They are rude, the classes are HUGE, I mean, way larger than average first year classes. And the professors, well....there was only one decent first year professor out of all of the ones that I had. I have made other posts warning people about my experience from JMLS, you may want to check other peoples pages, like higherlearning or purplecat23. But to make a long story short, you'd be much better off somewhere else than at JMLS.

...for the kind words. I am not very hot on Marquette at the moment, so I may open up a spot for you in the near future!

Thursday, December 22 2005 at 07:00 PM

Glad to see you were accepted to Marquette!
