I applied for the fall 06 semester. They informed me of the acceptance via mail.

Your Question

I applied to Florida Coastal for Fall, 06.

I am applying to FCSL too. My index is only a 2.8 due to my horrendus LSAT avg. Congrats on the Scholarship. I am hoping that I will get some scholarship money from them.

Congrats!

Congrats on Albany! I applied there too...I hope I get something in the mail from them pretty soon! It must be exciting :)

Albany looks really nice... I like their health law program. Hopefully scholarship money will follow soon. Where did Albany rank among all of your choices?

Albany Law
Sunday, December 04 2005 at 07:00 PM

I sent my application to Albany on 9/26. I think with my lower LSAT & GPA they are going to need to take a closer look at my file before they make a decision! I am hoping for the best though. It looks like a great school. The NYS capital region is pretty fun, and from what I hear there are a lot of job opportunities...esp. with all the government buildings around there. The location is only about 3 1/2 hours from my home...and there seems to be some cool housing units in walking distance from the LS! I am keeping my fingers crossed :)

Albany

I haven't been there, but it seems nice. It is safety for me because I'm looking for an environmental law program, which they don't have. I was happy to be accepted and I wouldn't mind going there at all!

Albany
Monday, November 28 2005 at 07:00 PM

Albany was my first decision back. I've applied to a lot of schools, so awaiting those decisions and then i'll make a decision. It looks like a good school though.

Pace vs. Albany
Monday, November 28 2005 at 07:00 PM

I would pick Pace myself. They are ranked #3 in the country for enviro law, which is what I want to do. They gave me 5k a year and I visited the school and loved the campus!

Cardozo
Thursday, September 22 2005 at 08:00 PM

I applied to Cardozo FT

ALBANY
Monday, November 28 2005 at 07:00 PM

Did you get any money from them? I haven't heard from them since my initial acceptance letter, I was hoping for some cash!

Hofstra
Monday, November 28 2005 at 07:00 PM

I would go for Hofstra only because I like their location better. I like being close to the city, but I think they are both good.

Re: hofstra/syracuse
Tuesday, December 06 2005 at 07:00 PM

Hey, in response to your question, I have absolutely no idea which school is better. I know I want to be in a city and Hofstra is closer to NYC. Do you have any thoughts?

I think u will get into hofstra. Did you apply to Cardozo part-time of full-time???

in response to your questions, prob nyls as i would like to be in the city. a few questions for you-- was ur application to miami unique in any way? It is quite an accomplishment to have gotten in already with a 154 so CONGRATS! Also, did u apply cardozo full time or part time? any feelings on that?? ttyl GOODLUCK

Miami
Tuesday, December 06 2005 at 07:00 PM

In response, i think Miami is great- it's second teir!!!! To put it in perspective, I got deferred there. It is a HUGE accomplishment to have gotten in with a 154. I would really consider it as it is much better than some of the other schools you have gotten into. You shoudl be so happy!!!

Miami
Tuesday, December 06 2005 at 07:00 PM

Miami is ranked higher. Get the US News and World report for the rankings.

congrats
Friday, December 09 2005 at 07:00 PM

congrats on miami...last i checked it was ranked 73rd (us news/world report) we have similar numbers and i hope we both can move beyond the LSAT . Good luck with the rest of them!

miami v. syracuse
Friday, December 09 2005 at 07:00 PM

Between those two I would prefer Miami for several reasons. One...Miami is ranked higher, which most likely means a higher salary for you when you graduate. Two, Miami is a big city...lots of firms to work at. Three, weather...Syracuse is cold...real cold. But you should also consider where you want to be after law school. If you can't see yourself in Florida, or the south, you might want to consider other schools. Good luck!

miami
Friday, December 09 2005 at 07:00 PM

Miami's reputation should travel...it is considered a very solid school...but firms will usually recruit from the local area...meaning it will be unlikely that a northern firm will recruit you from miamil...but im sure you can find a job through alumni relations, etc.

Miami

I don't know a whole lot about Miami, kinda just applied there on a whim after I finished my other apps. From what I have read though they seem to have a lot of alumni that live in the northeast, so I bet it places well up there. Check out lsd.

re: acceptances
Wednesday, November 02 2005 at 07:00 PM

I am not really sure where I would choose to go right now between Miami and Buffalo. They are on basically level playing field according to the rankings. On the one hand since I am a NY state resident Buffalo will be way cheaper and the prospect of an $80000 debt as opposed to a $150000 debt is awfully inviting. On the other hand though Buffalo is Buffalo and Miami is Miami... I would MUCH rather spend the next 3 years in Miami. Also Miami, I would think, has a better national reputation which is obviously good, but since I plan on working in NYC I don't know if Miami's national rep matters to me because Buffalo has a very good rep in NY... Needless to say, I am very conflicted. Really I am just waiting and hoping to get into one of my top choices. What are your feelings on your schools?

re: schools
Wednesday, November 02 2005 at 07:00 PM

I would rather be in Miami over Buffalo for a number of reasons, certainly one is the weather. More than that though, Buffalo is a smaller, old, decrepid city and Miami is, from what I know, quite the opposite. Bottom line, there is much more to do in Miami. As far as choosing between Syracuse and Miami that would be a no-brainer for me, definitely Miami. Miami is a much better school in a much better place and I'm guessing the difference in price is negligible.

schools
Wednesday, November 02 2005 at 07:00 PM

Honestly I don't know. I definitely think Buffalo is better than Syracuse, at least for working in NYS. Miami is also definitely a better school than Buffalo, but as far as getting a job in the northeast, I honestly don't know much about it.

Re: Buffalo, Syracuse, Miami
Tuesday, December 06 2005 at 07:00 PM

I know nothing about Buffalo. I know Miami is ranked higher than Syracuse but I also know that going to school in Miami makes it harder to get a job on the eastcoast. I really don't know what to tell you. Maybe you should go visit the schools to see what would make you most comfortable. GOODLUCK!

Wednesday, February 22 2006 at 07:00 PM

I went to SUNY Buffal for undergrad, and didnt like it for a number of reasons, but it's a good law school. fyi check out drexel, i had similar numbers and got a free ride

I didnt like buffalo for a number of reasons: (1) obviously, its freezing cold during the winter; (2) the public transportation system is terrible, and both campuses are pretty far away from the heart of the city, where anything is going on; (3) its a big school and the classes are huge (I doubt you\\\'ll deal with this really, cause the law school isn\\\'t too big); (4) generally, there are locals, and there are people from NYC, and both groups tend to stick with each other pretty tightly, which got a little frustrating; (5) everything on campus is extremely expensive, the administrators are slow, and the cops ticket the whole city like crazy. Granted, these things don\\\'t really relate to whats important: that its a good school, and pretty cheap at that. Out of your list do far I\\\'m not sure. Right now, I\\\'d go for Miami or John Marshall

decision
Wednesday, November 02 2005 at 07:00 PM

have you gotten any closer to deciding? i am lately leaning more and more towards miami over buffalo, despite the difference in cost.

I don't use my AIM. I'll be going to New York Law School. What about you? Are you still waiting to hear back from the rest of the schools? Some schools' deadlines for deposits are coming up soon....

Hey, I saw you plan on attending Miami next year. Me too. Shoot me an email sometime. Let me know what your doing in terms of houseing. I am looking to find a couple roommates (3 or 4) to share a townhouse or apartment near campus.

Miami
Thursday, December 15 2005 at 07:00 PM

Well good luck and enjoy the massive amounts of snow in Buffalo ;). Serioulsy though, you should see how Miami places in NY. I am in the same boat in terms of employment. I want to practice in NY when I graduate. From what I have heard, a UM degree can land you a job in NY, assuming you do well enough. I graduated from QC this past Fall.

Buffalo
Sunday, December 04 2005 at 07:00 PM

Hey - I'm just wondering...how much money did Buffalo want for that first seat deposit??? They told me that they have more seat deposits sent in than they expected...so waitlist movement might be slow.

Thanks!!!
Sunday, December 04 2005 at 07:00 PM

Thanks for getting back to me :) I'm really hoping that a lot of people just threw down the $100 because it was cheap, and ultimately ended up deciding on a different school. That might free up a seat for my poor waitlisted self! Haha. I'll have to wait until mid-June to know for sure...that's when their "intent to enroll" forms are going to be due. Good luck at Hofstra! Are you excited?
