I actually did apply to UM (I'm having problems with my profile). I'd prefer FSU/UF, though, because of the in-state tuition and lower cost of living.
The cost is a huge issue for UM. I didn't go there for undergrad and can't really say much about the quality of the school, but I've heard that it does have good job placement in Miami/south FL.
they called this morning. However, on the website it says they "mail out" the first round of decision letters on Nov. 20th... So I have no idea why they called today. Good luck!!
I just read your username and couldn't help but laugh out loud. Congratulations on those acceptances and good luck!
Where does that school rank for you?
I don't really have a good reason why I didn't apply to Loyola. I was close to going to DePaul for undergrad, so it was still on my mind when law school apps came around. Basically I didn't want to have to choose between really similar schools if it came down to that. Sorry this probably doesn't help! I applied to Kent because it's right by the train station for easy commuting.
Hey, I didn't apply to Pepperdine because I don't like the religious leaning. I believe the dean is close-minded. LLS I have no desire to attend. I'm pretty sure I'll get into Hastings, and I would go to Hastings before both of those choices. I love USD, and wouldn't mind spending my LS career there, and it was a big enough safety to only apply to one. I'd choose USD over LLS/Pepperdine also, that is why I didn't apply!
Congrats on the $$ from UM. Are you leaning in that direction?
It says my decision letter was sent on November 23rd.
Hey I was just reading your additional info. What did the schools say back to you after you emailed about getting in trouble for underage drinking and smoking? Did it affect their decisions? Were you accepted anywhere after you told them that? Also, were you charged or anything which caused you to retract what you said on the apps?
thanks. i have a similar situation and had talked to current law school students about it and they said the same thing that either i should email or wait till acceptance to let them know but that it should not be a big deal as long as i come forward at some point. nothing on my record, nothing that i lied about on apps but still i never want there to be any question of my character. anyhow cardozo told me by mail. 2 days prior they changed my status to say that a decision had been made. good luck with ur schools. although it looks like u have all the luck u need.
I actually applied to MSU about a month ago and hadn't updated this profile... just got the call today - I'm accepted and full scholarship. Now the decision to make is Wayne or MSU - - - Good Luck with your decisions!!
To respond to the above poster 1) many, if not most, of these schools offered a fee waiver, i was too lazy to go back and find out which ones and then post it accordingly... 2) i HAVE withdrawn from many of these schools but am, similarly, too lazy to mark which ones. 3) Yes, i did apply to many different schools because i a) didn't know where i wanted to end up b) wasn't sure what to expect from my cycle/was scared c) the maybe hundreds of dollars i spent applying was WELL worth making sure i spend the next +$150,000 appropriately. I don't think any of my logic necessitates my having a mental disorder?
I agree with you about applying to numerous law schools. I applied to more than I initially intended once I received fee waivers. The way I see it is that I was late in the cycle, and I'm willing to move pretty much anywhere. Besides, I'd rather have the option of choosing a law school as opposed to one acceptance. Even if you had paid to apply, it's your money! Have you visited FSU?
Right now its looking like Tulane, unless Florida comes through with a good scholly or i get into one of my reaches (Emory, vandy, Texas)
Thanks for your input on USD and Pepperdine! I'm most likely going to visit USD before I make a decision since it's a very important decision! So based your visit to both schools, which would you pick?
Your input on both schools is really helpful! I'm hearing and reading a lot of good things about USD; it seems like a well rounded school (great environment, good rank, good location, nice people). I really liked Pepperdine, but my biggest issue was it's location. The school is a bit far from the city, which is where most of the jobs are. I don't want to have to commute a long distance for an internship or job. Is USD one of your top choices? I'll definitely let you know what I decide!
Congrats on getting such a great scholarship from Michigan! Yeah, I'm trying to decide whether to go to a lower ranked school for a lot less expense or a higher ranked school which is going to leave me broke. It all comes down to money in the end...
Your welcome! They mailed me a letter a couple of weeks ago. Hopefully you'll get a scholarship from them!
I haven't heard back from enough schools to have a top choice yet. My goal was to get into a t30, but W & L would be extremely expensive since I don't think they have need-based aid. I'm kind of looking for a dramatic change, so Ill probably end up in the northeast. I have family up north which helps.
Do you plan on waiting out for other schools like Hastings or are you already set on one school?
Per the title, I've been out of the country and out of e-mail contact for the last couple months. In response to your question, I have no idea. And unfortunately, a lot of the scholarships I've been offered have expiration dates around April 1st. Crazy. What about you?
That waitlist for W&M is ridiculous. I haven't heard back from Hastings or Davis yet either. Heard rumors though that everyone left over is reject for Hastings =C. I really hope that's not the case.
hey there congratulations on msu! did you attend an open house? i'm going there too this fall. see you there! what's your specialty going to be?
Right back at ya. Good to hear from a fellow incoming 1L.
Grats on MSU. I think it is going to be a great school! See ya this fall.
Congrats on MSU! Hopefully I'll see you there this fall!
I'm not sure. I've heard mixed things about American, while I've heard nothing but good things about MSU. Plus, a scholarship makes MSU very attractive. To answer your question, probably not. I'm already looking at places in East Lansing, plus my boyfriend is going there too.
Congrats! We've got pretty similar stats. I just applied to USD. Did you receive any scholarship offers with your acceptance?
