Additional info & updates

First LSAT was dissapointing- 163; misread a rule on one of the games which cost me 5 points.
Retook in December, felt a lot better about it and got a 171. I just hope the new ABA policy will help me out this season.

So far:

12/12 Accepted at Temple with 12 K scholorship for three years, so long as i am in the top 50%. (also i'd like to add i got accepted before my retake score came in)

12/23 Accepted at University of Arizona with my old score and stats; 15 K per year with no strings attached. So far it's looking good.

01/10 Accepted at Vanderbilt; came in small white envelope. No scholarship offers since they start looking at those in February. I probably won't be getting one since i didn't fill out the damn form that was due by the 10th of January. Tricky bastards...

01/11 Indiana Bloomington is the next one to respond. Big blue priority mail envelope. Dean's scholarship offer for 43 K over three years as long as I remain in the top third of the class (kind of rough if you ask me)

01/16 In at USC. Small white envelope with a small letter saying that i've been accepted and that they will send me more information in the future.

01/17/07 Email form W & L saying that i've been accepted. Let's see how much $ they will offer.

01/19/07 Just checked my UC hastings status and it changed to "admitted". It was dated 1/18. So far all of the safeties are responding faborably, but where are all the t-14's?

01/19/07 UVa status checker went from complete to decision. I'm hoping to get the good news this week.

01/21/07 Phone call from GW saying that i'm in. That was a little awkward, but of course i'm happy to hear the good news.

01/22/07 Letter from Virginia saying i've been accepted. Superb news considering it's the first t-14 to respond! I'm very pleased with UVa they responded very fast. Happy day indeed. I can say with certainty that i am going to law school in 07.

01/24/07 Email from GW telling me i received full scholarship for all three years and that i will get a free apartment for my first year. Wow.

01/25/07 Complete at Harvard.

01/26/07 Letter from W $ L saying i will get 28 K per year in scholarships, so long as i keep a 3.0 GPA.

01/26/07 GW stuff came in, and the offer looks really great. 38 K per year which is renewable so long as i stay full time and am still in good standing (which i believe pretty much means don't flunk out). The Aston apartment is said to be fully furnished which further sweatens the deal. GW is really smart, i think that it will be hard to say no to them even though i'm already in at UVa.

01/27/07 Withdrew from Notre Damme. With Gw's offer there is really nothing they could do to get me to go to their school. The story with ND is that they sent me an email requiring an addendum explaining why i applied to ND. I didn't respond by the given deadline, and they waitlisted me. Beware of the yield protection high scorers.

01/29/07 In at BU. Came in a big white envelope.

01/30/07 Phone call from UCLA, i missed it so i got a voicemail. I bet i got accepted, but i have to call them tomorrow to be sure.

01/31/07 It's official, I'm in at UCLA. Talked to Rob Swartz today. They're mailing out my letter this friday.

02/05/07 On "hold" at columbia. F-ing great.

02/21/07 Waitlisted at Duke and Penn some time ago. So far no news and it's driving me crazy! Come one Chicago, Harvard, Stanford- pick me!

03/02/07 March starts off with a waitlist from Michigan and a letter from Cornell requesting an interview. There is no way i'm gonna fly to Ithaca to meet them in person. Should i do the phone interview or withdraw? I'd pick UVA over Cornell and would only consider the latter if there was some money involved. But at this point it doesn't seem like they will throw any $ at me. I'm thinking of withdrawing. Also, i withdrew from a lot of places today that i won't be attending. Time to open up some seats for others.

03-06-07 Rejected at Chicago! Kill self.

03-07-07 20 K scholarship at USC with no strings attached.

03-30-07 Rejected at Boalt. Oh well it was never my top choice anyway.

04-02-07 Just called UVA asking about my financial aid info and turns out i got 20 K per year! And i wasn't even mentioned as a Dean's Scholar in my admission letter. Happiest day of my life! I'm going to UVA next fall!

04-21-07 In at Columbia via email! Wow, now this makes things complicated...

04-23-07 Rejected at Stanford.

04-26-07 So with a waitlist from Harvard my cycle is officially over. This is the only waitlist i will stay on although i wont get my hopes up.
Right now i'm leaning towards Columbia even though the debt load would be that much greater than UVA. I sent in both of my deposits and will wait to see as to what my final decision will be. I'll probably visit both and look at how i feel at each school.

--------------------------------------------------------------
After long and difficult deliberation, i've decided to save $ and go to UVA. Hopefully it is the right choice. Columbia looked great but at the end of the day it looked way to expensive considering that i had such a great offer from Virginia.

I applied to 22 schools. In retrospect, it was too many, but oh well. It's good to see I'm not alone :) Good luck the rest of your cycle.

Nice LSAT movement and congratulations on your acceptances. Did you write an addendum regarding your LSAT scores, by any chance?

Best of luck to you, especially on Harvard. I hope this cycle will be good for us (retakers).

Hey,
Wednesday, March 29 2006 at 07:00 PM

Don't get discouraged by the holds/waitlists! You already have all of those awesome schools to choose from (UVA, GWU, for example). And I don't mean it in a "stop complaining, you overachiever" way:) But really, would you choose Duke or BC over the others? I guess what I'm trying to say in this rant is, yes, your feelings about Columbia hold are understandable, but Duke--not so much ;)

And you're mine. Combined we improved a total of 24 points on the LSAT and have both broken the T10--how ridiculous is that?! we should totally start a prep company and given robin singh a run for his money!

Yeah, I think some schools will have to overlook it, but I am wondering about HYS, and scholarship opportunities at other schools.
