Hey! 2 english major females from SA with matching LSATs to boot. Who would have thought? Good luck!
That's Awsome.... 20 GRAND reknewable scholarship!! Did you get it via snali mail or e-mail? I've been watching you too; there are not too many people with that CUM/DEGREE GPA Factor
I've been watching your profile for the reasons that you mentioned, and I noticed we shared a major as well. I was so excited to see your Willamette offer, and was ecstatic when I received the same. Good luck with the rest of the cycle!
Congrats on the Willamette offer and good luck with the rest of your schools!
Thanks for stopping in at my profile I wish you the best of luck on your Lewis and Clark application - let me know when it comes in! By the way, I might stay away from U of O, just from what I've heard. I think you'd be better off at LC or Willamette! Did you consider a U of W app? I know it'd be a long shot for either of us, but they have a forced admit of 70% residents, so you might be able to slip in!
I don't have any special ties to that area, except we visited there and just loved it, esp. Couer D'Alene. Moscow does seem kind of sleepy, but since I'm older and married it doesn't bother me too much, except that I do worry about job prospects for my hubby. I am strongly considering Willamette because of the $$ and job prospects seem like they might be more readily available. E-mail me if you have any thoughts on this, and let me know how your visits, etc. go as well!
Congratulations on your acceptance to Drake, Marnster.
Have you visited Willamette yet? I'm planning on going up there sometime next month. Let me know how your visit goes!
...came in a letter. An Idaho 1L called me last night. She loves it there, and she's from FL. She mentioned that sometimes they give aid to cover the difference between in and out of state at least for that first year, so if I get that, I might visit there. I'm visiting Willamette March 6, and I'm anxious to check it out!
I did AmeriCorps in Forest Grove, Oregon, a suburb of Portland. I tutored lower level students. Anyway, I might see you at Willamette next year!
I'm sure you already know, but Willamette is in Salem, not Eugene as the previous poster indicated. I live in Portland and may attend Willamette but am not sure. Salem is Salem. I've known people who didn't like living there but overall I can't imagine it to be super bad. I'm not sure what your boyfriend does for a living, but there are lots of government jobs there...not much else though. I was down for a visit about 2 weeks ago and am going to Law Day in the first part of April. Email me if you have specific questions, I'd be happy to answer whatever I can.
Congrats on Idaho! Did they bring the cake and balloons to your door along with the letter?
How was your visit at Willamette? Have you decided if you are going to go there for sure?
On your acceptances. We have almost identical numbers and similar apps out. Maybe (please, please, please) we can both get into Oregon.
If you end up at Willamette for law school, best of luck. WU is my undergrad and I had a great experience there. If you have any more questions about the campus or Salem, feel free to ask. Congrats!
Thanks for the comments. I'm really leaning toward Idaho now that the $$ have evened out for me. I'm sending the deposit today. They really went the extra mile, and I like the area more for kids than Salem. Idaho also has a tax clinic which Willamette does not. I haven't thought much about summer positions outside of the Indian Estate Planning project which I really really hope I can get into at UI. I have heard that it is quite conservative so I'm sure I'll add some liveliness to the conversation since I don't share those politics but I don't take those things too personally so I can't see it going much beyond that. I'm more concerned about the hubby/job thing- we started researching and applying for him in Lewiston yesterday so we'll see what happens with that. Depending on the timing of if/when I move there and if/when you leave, I may take you up on that coffee offer yet!
Yeah, me too! I want something official so that I can stop worrying that my email was a mistake! Hopefully we'll both get big fat letters tomorrow.
Ha!! I forgot about that game until just now! Anyway, congrats on your acceptances and welcome to Oregon. Are you going to give U of O any serious thought? I have a friend that live in Phoenix from Pullman. She misses it loads. This side of the Cascades will be a big change! I'm sure you'll do great.
congrats! i totally remember playing oregon trail in 5th grade. ahh, gotta love the orange and black computer screens.
Also a question. How did you manage 20,000 from them? They offered me a big fat 0 for scholarship money, which I am appealing. I like the idea of Willamette, but was really dissapointed they offered me nothing. I was wondering if it is because I will be 39 by the time I enter law school....
I just got back from visiting Willamette this weekend. I loved the campus, but I have decided to attend the University of Utah instead. I just wanted to wish you luck at Willamette this fall!
Thanks for looking at my page there! I am so excited to hear you are going to Willamette... right now that looks like where I will be as well. My boyfriend will be moving cross country as well to be nearer to me, so we'll be in the same sort of situation. I got the $10,000-- I wish it was $20,000!!!
See you in the Fall
we are applying to similar schools!!
