Chiashu Odds (2004 Data):

Yale: 7.2% (Rejected)
Harvard: 10.8% (Deferred, Rejected)
Columbia: 18.1% (Rejected)
NYU: 29.6% (Rejected)
Penn: 26.8 % (Deferred, Waitlisted)

BU: 87.3% (Accepted)
UConn: 66.2% (Accepted)

11/29: 1st G-town deferral of the Cycle on LSN. White envelope, standard.

12/14: Penn deferral. My take on it? This easily could've been a rejection based on numbers alone. I'm just happy to still be in the running. Off-white envelope, standard.

12/17: In at BC! This was the realistic target from before I even began to study for the LSAT. Today is a good day. Packet in green and white commercial envelope.

12/27/05: In at BU! More good news from beantown before the new year. White packet envelope sent to permanent (parental) address.

1/30/06: Received the UConn acceptance today. While the regular business envelope may scare future acceptees, the weight will push away your worries before you open it.

2/1/06: Received my first ding of the season from Columbia. No surprises here.

2/6/06: Deferred at Harvard. Do you believe in miracles?

2/17/06: Received Priority Waitlist from G-town off of deferral. No offense folks, but I'm going to sleep like a baby tonight.

3/12/06: Yale ding via snail mail. Again, no surprises here.

3/24/06: Came home from a business trip to find a waitlist offer from Penn and $10,000/yr scholarship at BU. The BU offer is below what other folks with my numbers have been offered. Combined with the lack of a phone call upon acceptance and I'm just not feeling the love from the Terriers. As for Penn, I'm staying on the waitlist. I figure it can't hurt.

4/7/06: NYU rejection via snail mail. I'm not sure why it took this look to state the obvious.

4/10/06: Alumni Scholarship at BC for $15k/yr. Looks like this is the nail in the coffin.

4/11/06: Submitted withdrawal from UConn. Hope this helps someone out there.

4/15/06: Mailed in deposit to BC. Thus endeth the cycle (barring a Harvard miracle).

5/1/06: Harvard rejection. Cycle lesson learned? LSAT is king, for better or worse.

LSAT ended up on my average, so I have no complaints. I think I'm going to title my application cycle: "The Quest for Harvard's Waitlist."

you too!
Tuesday, September 06 2005 at 08:00 PM

Yeah, I'll definitely be rooting for you! From one philly native to another--tweeners rock!

good luck
Tuesday, September 06 2005 at 08:00 PM

We'll probably end up on some of the same waitlists. P.S. I also thought the fee reduction from Notre Dame was odd.

For almost being my numbers twin

you're a lot more daring than I am. Best of luck to you this cycle.

Good luck!

Hope that government experience impresses - for my own sake, as well.

Good luck!
Wednesday, October 26 2005 at 08:00 PM

Your WE is impressive. Good luck on all your apps!

Hey There
Wednesday, May 25 2005 at 08:00 PM

It looks like we are pretty close with our numbers and are applying to some of the same schools. I wish you Luck!

Our dates on GULC are pretty similar. Perhaps they will *accept* us at the same time

Thanks

Thanks for the comment, and good luck to you as well.

From a fellow NAAC: I think you're going to be alright since your WE is very strong. Not a single school outside the Northeast? Northwestern would like you a lot, considering your work experience.

Thanks
Tuesday, October 18 2005 at 08:00 PM

I'm limited to the Northeast for personal reasons.

No Worries

I'm sure we'll get our dings in one mass mail.

good luck!

good luck to you too :-)

Damn!
Saturday, September 10 2005 at 08:00 PM

You just shot up! Thanks though; I'm trying to keep 13.

Thanks!
Saturday, November 19 2005 at 07:00 PM

You were my first comment! Thanks! I'm sure you'll be getting some good acceptances too. I'm actually jealous of all your fee waivers though it doesn't look like you used any.

How the hell?
Tuesday, October 18 2005 at 08:00 PM

Jason - not a clue. I just saw 5k more hits today. This is insane and has no logical explanation.

Did you receive the GULC deferral by snail mail? Did your online status change? thanks!

Thanks Diz
Tuesday, October 18 2005 at 08:00 PM

It's cool. The G-town connection and DC locale may actually hurt me in admissions to GULC since I'm competing against my peers down here to get in.

G-Town Status Change
Tuesday, October 18 2005 at 08:00 PM

Online status went to "decision" on 11/30/05.

Boo to Georgetown

Yea, I guess we shouldnt be too upset, but you know what sucks? It shows how unholistic GT approach really is, if we had gotten only 3-5 more points right on the LSAT, we would have been. People with solid gpas, from solid schools, and great ECs are defferred because of a few questions on a standarized test.

why did gtown defer you?
Saturday, August 20 2005 at 08:00 PM

why?

Why Deferred?
Tuesday, October 18 2005 at 08:00 PM

My guess is that my lsat is two points below this year's auto-admit cutoff based on the numbers I've seen here on lsn.

It depends

Hang in there man! You are going to do just fine.

Thanks. Good luck to you as well. I am glad to see another 166 refusing to buy into the top 14 must equal 170+LSAT b.s. that flies around these boards sometimes.

Pulling for ya..
Wednesday, August 24 2005 at 08:00 PM

Hope you are relieved of some anxiety soon. BC will let you enjoy Xmas. I'm hoping to dodge the Penn Deferral/Reject when I get to the mailbox.

WTF?
Friday, September 16 2005 at 08:00 PM

Somebody accept this guy already! Just look at the numbers, LOOK AT THEM!!! Good luck man, here's to some acceptances soon. -- Lacoste19 on LSD

BC and Penn
Thursday, September 08 2005 at 08:00 PM

Congrats on BC and I feel your pain on Penn. We're practically number twins so I have a feeling we'll have similar outcomes this season. Let's hope that it's a good one!

Congrats on BC!

Congrats on the Bostons, Nuke!!

Congrats
Friday, November 11 2005 at 07:00 PM

on BC and BU. I'm rooting for you as a numbers twin. I'm sure you're happy about the Boston schools too!

your thoughts on BU
Wednesday, November 30 2005 at 07:00 PM

just wondering what your thoughts on the BU admissions process were; it is my top choice, and i haven't heard anything from them yet; it seems like they don't like to reject people during the holidays, so if we were complete early (i got the compete postcard in mid november, but it said "expect to hear from us after jan 15" -- did everyone's postcard say that?) and haven't heard yet, does that mean we will likely be dinged? any advice for what i might be able to do at this point to help my chances? i love bu!

BU Acceptance
Tuesday, October 18 2005 at 08:00 PM

You're an Ivy splitter URM with 170+ LSAT. I think you're going to get into bigger and better places than BU.

BU
Wednesday, November 30 2005 at 07:00 PM

thanks for the vote of confidence, but BU is really my top choice -- i really want to stay in boston, for many reasons, and BU has an excellent health law program which is what i would like to go into; also, it seems from last year that they rejected a handful of people with 170/170+ lsats and low 3 gpas....

So is it BC?
Thursday, October 20 2005 at 08:00 PM

Thanks for the kind words, by the way. BC is a great school if that's where you're headed. I'm assuming you're still open to a G-town or Penn acceptance?

Too early to say
Tuesday, October 18 2005 at 08:00 PM

But I am definitely glad to have two very nice options this early on.

BC
Sunday, July 24 2005 at 08:00 PM

Way to go on BC. You might get into a stretch or two, but BC seems the obvious choice so far. Have you visited?

I'm going up to Boston next month to visit schools and take care of some wedding planning. Hopefully I'll have a better idea of my preferences and acceptances then.

BU scholarship
Saturday, February 11 2006 at 07:00 PM

I got a letter on thursday. do you have all of your forms in?

BU forms
Saturday, February 11 2006 at 07:00 PM

BU will require the CSS profile and their own institutional aid form (which you can find on their website.) The profile and BU's form will require your parent's info. Hope that helps!
