Additional info & updates

I probably have the most bizarre LSAT report for this cycle; got 12 wrong on the first section and then only 2 more in the next three scored sections. Go figure.

Fee waivers from Columbia, Cornell, Georgetown, Michigan and Northwestern. Can't read anything into that though.

OK, well maybe a little bit.

12/02: Got an acceptance letter in a 9x11 envelope from Michigan

12/08: Acceptance via email from Fordham.

12/12: Early Decision acceptance via email from Columbia!!Time to send out withdrawal letters. 18 of them.

12/13: Withdrawals sent out. I should probably receive some kind of decision from Cornell, UPenn, BC, and I guess Northwestern before they process my withdrawal. Will def. post the outcomes here even though I am locked into Columbia.

12/14: A very unexpected acceptance from Georgetown, also via hard copy letter. Had expected to be deferred.

12/15: Acceptance letter came today from NYU in a 9x11 manila envelope. Would've been nice to come back to the Village. Also, hardcopy follow-up letters from Fordham and Columbia.

12/17: Acceptance packet from Boston College. Came 1st class in a 9x11 envelope.

12/19: Acceptance to University of Pennsylvania via phone call.

Nice stats, bro. I think you're looking good for most of the schools on your list. NYU is a solid school and you have an impressive LSAT. Good luck!

Hat Trick of Applications
Saturday, September 10 2005 at 08:00 PM

-Applied early (assuming you go complete soon, too) -URM -Strong LSAT It must feel good to know you're in such good standing for some sweet acceptances, right?

Good luck!

Thanks for the compliment man - I don't really want to go to any other good schools though, so I figured I'd save myself the effort of applying. You seem to have solid stats, good luck!

Thanks

Thanks all. I'd be happy to go anywhere, to be honest. My gut tells me it may be a little easier to get in this year than in prior years since the economy is doing better.

BU
Thursday, September 08 2005 at 08:00 PM

How did you find out that BU received your app? Snail mail, email or they requested your report? I applied nearly a full month before you and I still haven't heard a peep (maybe they are waiting for Oct. LSAT scores to be released?). I included my email address if you want to respond to me that way.

Well, the LSDAS site says they received a paper copy of my application. So, that is what I'm going on. But they haven't requested an LSDAS law school report yet. This is all a little confusing. This is the list of schools that have requested & received a report as of today: UPenn, Berkeley, Northwestern, NYU, Georgetown, Fordham, Cornell, Columbia, Brooklyn

Good Luck!

Hey man, good look with it all. Keep us posted, your success is our success bruh! -- C

Re: Thanks

As for making or breaking my app, the main problem would be the low-ish GPA. there are 2 somewhat mitigating factors: working 20+ hrs./week all through undergrad, and a major with no grade inflation. With any luck, my strong work experience will make the GPA less of a drawback. AI or academic index is the formula by which certain schools weigh your LSAT and GPA to arrive at one overall academic number. It's not the end-all-be-all, since it can't account for several factors (and is probably not even heavily relied upon by schools); it just gives you an idea of your standing relative to other applicants.

fee waiver
Tuesday, November 08 2005 at 07:00 PM

just wondering, how did you get fee waivers? I am applying next yr to law school.

thanks for the encouragement!
Tuesday, October 04 2005 at 08:00 PM

I'm not as optimistic about my chance as you are... in fact, after a few weeks on LSD, my hope is fading... but I appreciate the vote of confidence! Your stats and ECs are great; I'm sure you'll get into Columbia!!

The NAAC Wishes You Well
Tuesday, October 18 2005 at 08:00 PM

I think you've got a great shot in this cycle. Please remember to turn in your NAAC membership card when those T-14 admits start rolling in. ( ;

yeah
Wednesday, October 26 2005 at 08:00 PM

you're at risk to get kicked out of the NAAC, there's no way you don't get into some of those t14s. :)

Good Luck!
Friday, September 16 2005 at 08:00 PM

Thanks, I'm sure you'll do fine too! My #1 choice is actually an obscure dual degree program at Cornell. If I don't get into that, I'm going to play it by ear.

Lsat testing
Saturday, September 17 2005 at 08:00 PM

Well I am testing on the low side of what I want to score, however this is the home stretch and I am giving it all I have. I just seem to keep making stupid mistakes on a couple of questions so I am working on that!!! Wish me luck!!

GW & Minnesota
Friday, November 18 2005 at 07:00 PM

You should apply there at least as safeties, you're sure to get into both. Plus Minnesota can't get anybody up there much less blacks, so you be in there at a top 20.

Even though you're going to Columbia, I noticed you pulled an NYU today. That's hot. Maybe they'll pass the savings down to this guy, eh? I'm kind of wishing you didn't withdraw from Harvard, just out of curiousity...
