Additional info & updates

Rankings are (and this is really just for my own information, but I'm happy to share) the Chiashu.com percentages for my numbers.

12-07-06: First Decision of the Cycle, Dinged by Georgetown. (Thin white envelope)

12-12-06: Fordham Status Check went to "2nd Decision" - No clue what this means. Anyone? I could really use an accept right now.
(Update: It means that my app is held until an undisclosed time)

12-12-06: If I don't get an email from Notre Dame tomorrow, I'm going to assume that I should expect a thin envelope in the mail.

12-13-06: Got the letter from Fordham. Rejection at ND is imminent.

12-14-06: Villanova Acceptance -- White envelope. Not crazy thick, but it was obviously multiple pages.

12-15-06: Letter from Notre Dame. No surprise: Ding.

12-18-06: Letter from Cornell - Ding. (Thin and white. Postmarked the 15th).

12-26-06: HOLY CRAP! Deferred at my ultra-reach! I was sure that was a ding.

1-3-07: In at George Mason via Phone Call.

1-6-07: In at Seton Hall by mail, with money! $27K year ain't bad.

1-11-07: Email from Tulane: "Your application to Tulane Law School has been submitted to the Admission Committee for review. "

1-17-07: In at Tulane via email! There is mention of a scholarship, but the amount isn't listed. So far I haven't been rejected in 2007. Lets hope the trend continues.

1-27-07: In at Wake Forest. Relatively quick turnaround.

1-29-07: In at Emory with a large envelope. Waitlisted at GW in a small one. Happy Birthday to me, I guess?

2-01-07: In at GW Part Time via Email! OMG! The earlier waitlist letter was sent by accident, so they tell me.

2-06-07: Deferred at WUSTL! I might not hear until April 15th? Really WashU? I like you, but not enough to pay another deposit and turn it down almost immediately. If I don't hear before April, I'm not going to WashU.

2-14-07: Oh what a lovely Valentines Day gift... Dinged at BC. White envelope -- thin. I haven't heard from three schools, and I'm pretty sure there is at least one ding left in those, probably two.

2-15-07: Letter postmarked Feb. 14th, from George Mason offering a $15k scholarship, renewable at $10k for 2L and 3L if I'm in the top-25%

2-23-07: Ding letter from Duke. Definitely expected. I'm way below the medians and I sort of pissed them off (telling them to hold my file for the feb. LSAT and then not taking it...)

3-5-07: Withdrawing from two schools. They just seemed unlikely at this point. I'll make more withdrawals as I continue to narrow my choices.

3-20-07: Got an email around 6:30/7pm with a pretty impressive scholarship from Emory. They beat every offer so far, except for Seton Hall.

3-22-07: Waitlisted at W&L... They Waitlisted me for undergrad too. Some things never change, I guess... (except that this time, I might actually go on the list).

3-23-07: Waitlisted at BU... Probably another one from W&M coming soon, and let's not forget those three deferrals. Yummy...

3-28-07: W&M arrived...

3-28-07: Fordham waitlist via email -- prob. not going there anyway. I was deferred on 12-13-06.
----------------------------------------------------

All Schools are visible again.

I'm waiting patiently for my deferral decisions now. I am going to ignore the WLs until May or so because I don't expect much action on that front anyway.

----------------------------------------------------

3-30-07: WL @ WUSTL by email.

4-12-07: PENNDING.

--- CYCLE OVER ---

Now it is decision time. I've got a few WL outstanding, so just about anything can still happen, but it looks like it is down to Emory and George Washington.

5-19-07: Unless GW decides to accept me as a full-time student, I am headed to Atlanta. Can't say I'm psyched about the location, but the school is excellent (maybe I can talk Emory into moving their university to NJ?)

6-25-07: Recieved an email from W&L that seems to be a pre-cursor to a WL, Accept, asking me to confirm my interest. I told them, however about my Emory scholarship, and said that they would have to offer a competitive scholarship.

About my admission, I think it was the combo of unique work experiences (variety of jobs since I was 16 including HAZMAT trucking) combined with being a National Guard Officer. I hope you get in man!

Sorry about GT. Was that your first choice? I'm definitely expecting the same, but at least I have a few more months to hope.

only one school
Thursday, October 19 2006 at 08:00 PM

Yes, only one school for now. If I'm not lucky enough to get in to ND I will apply to other schools. Good luck!

don't lose hope!
Thursday, October 19 2006 at 08:00 PM

I'm sure ND will send out more emails next week!

Hey, I have the "2nd decision" thing for Fordham too...was your letter from F on 12-13 an acceptance? thanks and gluck

ND...still nothing for me either
Tuesday, December 12 2006 at 07:00 PM

In the same boat as you as far as ND goes...said they would notify by fifteenth for ED...but still nothing. Like you, I'm thinking this is a bad sign, but it seems there are a lot of people in our position.

Hi, I was delivered the admission package by the Assistant Dean of Admission during an interview on campus at GW. It was a couple weeks ago.

haha very true about the thick skin...but then again I think most people from Jersey have thick skin, and those who go to Rutgers even more so cause we're always being downgraded by other Jerseyites

Hey Dude
Wednesday, July 12 2006 at 08:00 PM

Congrats on Emory. When I first saw your LSN you didn't apply to many schools and the ones you did apply to didn't pan out. You were holdin out look at all your awesome acceptances now. Kudos.

Very similar
Saturday, October 14 2006 at 08:00 PM

Just judging by this profile it looks like we're in the same boat. I have a feeling that I won't be signing a lease anywhere until next september, hahaha. What do you think about GW PT?

Decisions, Decisions...
Wednesday, July 12 2006 at 08:00 PM

Ok dude, where you goin'?

WL at W&L
Wednesday, December 27 2006 at 07:00 PM

Well, I was wondering when the heck W&L was going to decide something on us 165ers. Just scanning through LSN gives me the impression that you should be near the top of the WL. Good luck!

Saturday, October 21 2006 at 08:00 PM

Dude, congrats on Emory, that's fucking amazing...with the cash money to boot! Lookin like that's gonna take preference over GW PT?

You and me both buddy, let's go Penn! Good look on the Gw reconsideration though!

Similar Waitlists/Rejections
Thursday, December 21 2006 at 07:00 PM

Hey there :) I was also rejected at ND and waitlisted at WashU and BU... Haven't heard from BC or GW yet, but I am hoping for the best. Good luck with your waitlists!

sorry for not responding!
Saturday, February 10 2007 at 07:00 PM

hey man - sorry i didn't respond! i forgot, for a while, that i made this profile after i kept getting waitlisted everywhere :D i updated my profile today - so far nothing too exciting. congrats on some of your offers - sounds like we've been getting pretty similar responses (save your scholarship to GMU! They offered me admission but no scholarship :) ) ...and don't fret over W&L - they waitlisted me for undergrad and law school as well... some people never learn to make the right decisions!

That sound you hear is the impending deposit deadline (and the beginning of the rest of your life).
