Upward grade trend. Dean's Honor List last two years.

During undergrad, volunteered as a peer counselor, interned as a workshop coordinator and was the head of the Speaker's Bureau all through the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender Resource Center on campus.

Volunteered at nation-wide civil rights organizations.

Worked throughout undergrad, 20-40 hours per week at a court ordered drug/domestic violence treatment center.

Graduated 2002.

Postgrad, worked at a psychiatric hospital as an Activities Coordinator and as a Social Worker for Child Protective Services in Louisville, KY. Currently work as a Research Associate for an expert witness in future life care plans and vocational rehabilitation in Los Angeles.

Mid July
Received phone call from Loyola to confirm my choice for the waitlist. They requested a return phone call. I did not call back. Probably off the list at this point.

Mid June
Received notification from U of San Diego, a leading contender until the end of May, that my scholarship had been increased to a total of $87,000 up from $60,000. How did I turn away from this?!?

End of May
Decided to go "home" to Louisville for law school. I miss my gorgeous house and my partner's family. Time to return and deal with the consequences... whatever they may be... now and in the future.

Notifcation from Loyola Chicago that their day and evening classes are full. And they are releasing me to pursue other options. Nice of them. And... I'm disappointed. But, it's further proof that Chicago is not in my cards.

Santa Clara is still reviewing my file and they hope to have a response by the end of April.
Quinnipiac is still reviewing but I should receive a decision very soon.

Not a good mail day. Deferred at Chicago Kent and Waitlisted at San Francisco. Does the Chicago Kent deferral mean something other than waitlist?

Rejected at Hastings. Letter dated 2/8. Nice words in the letter about receiving applications from qualified applicants that would fill their classes many times over. I'm okay with the rejection b/c I already decided that I did not want to go there. I've heard the competition among students is brutal. Not the environment that I want to be in for 3 years.

Waitlisted at Loyola Chicago. I'm disappointed because Chicago was my first choice city for law school. And I thought that Loyola Chicago was my first choice school for Chicago. Oh well, on we go! Next.

Finally! My final complete at Cornell. Almost two whole months and everything was sent in the same envelope. How's that for "backlog."

Returned home from Vegas to find an acceptance from Hofstra.
Also a t-shirt from Depaul. Nice touch!

On my way to a Vegas wedding, phone call from Dean Cox at University of Louisville personally notifying me of my acceptance. He had concerns regarding my residency status. And although I'm not claiming Kentucky residency if I decided to go to U of L, I would hope that given the fact that I have owned a home there the last 5 years and would return to it, there would be bearing on proving Kentucky residency for 2nd and 3rd year and beyond.

Acceptance from Southwestern with $26,500 per year.
Rejection from University of Kentucky "Admission Committee did not believe that you would be a competitive candidate in our admission process." Not nice!

Deferred to regular pool at Northeastern.

Email from Hofstra informing me that my application is now complete. Although, I sent them an inquiry and received a response on 12/19/07 informing me that I was complete on 12/17/07. Hopefully, there notification system is really delayed and I'm not 20+ days back in the pile for decisions!

Email from Suffolk - complete. Guess they received the dean's certification from my UG. "Most applicants should receive a decision by mid April."

Still haven't heard about complete status from UCLA< U of L or Cornell.

- Loyola received my LSDAS report on 12/12/07 and that was my complete date.
- Email response from Hawaii - complete as of 12/18/07.
- Email response from Hofstra - complete as of 12/17/07 and "a decision should be rendered shortly."

Got home and in the mailbox was a large white envelope that said "Welcome to DePaul" on the outside. ACCEPTED AT DEPAUL!! Now, I'm exicted and ready for more. Good and bad, bring 'em on!

Called DePaul to make sure I was complete. Informed that I was complete and being reviewed. He stated that I should have a decision any day now. Yes!! Wish me luck for a Chicago school!
