and happy new year to you :) hope we hear good news soon.
Loyola isn't very talkative. After their e-mail that said they'd received my app (a little less than a week after I sent it), I didn't hear a thing from them until I got the acceptance. It came in the mail, no e-mail. The acceptance said they did scholarship stuff seperately and several weeks later.
I wouldn't sweat not having reports requested yet, it sounds like some schools wait up to a month (Loyola was 3.5 weeks for me), others are very quick. In regards to being complete, that could be up to another few weeks after they receive your report. I'm sure the holidays have slowed things down a bit too. Also, the report includes everything: transcript, LORs, etc. Good luck, what is your top choice?
Good luck to you as well. Keep in touch!
It would basically take a t20 California school for me to definitely leave Hawaii (UCLA, USC, Berk), so I guess those 3 are my top choices. :)
Yeah i'll definately put you on my watch list. Keep in touch, and good luck!
Realistically my top choices are probably Loyola or USD, but I might consider a lower-ranked school with a decent scholarship. Time will tell I suppose. What is your top pick?
Loyola has an online status checker that I found on their website - that's how I knew they had completed my app. Thanks for the good wishes and good luck to you too!
I haven't really decided yet. It still really depends on where I get in, and I'm a little skeptical sometimes. That and I feel like my favorites are constantly changing. What is your number one school??
Thanks for the kind words. We're really close in numbers...umm...my top choices....berkeley, virginia, g-town and cornell (in that order)...good luck with your apps. i'm sure you'll rock the cycle.
Thanks! Good luck with your cycle too!
Hey, Thanks for your comment! I'm anxious to get some more notifications. Hopefully, they'll come soon. Good luck throughout the admissions process :)
haha, my top choice actually is UCLA, but my user name is from last year when I pretty much only applied to UCLA. But as you can see from my numbers UCLA is definitely a reach, and so is USC, so my top target choice is Loyola. What about you?
I recall it taking about 7 business days or so, but that was in november so they may have a heavier workload now. I'm adding you to my watchlist and hope you those acceptances soon!
I'm so anxious I check my email virtually every 5 minutes :/ I'm torn between my top choices: George Mason, U of Florida, American and Loyola. I'm still considering UC Hastings, not sure yet. What are yours?
Yeah, my application is currently complete. But it took an extremely long time. I recall submitting my app on 10/29 but it didn't go complete until about 12/28. In fact, I feel like I should have gotten a decision by now. I'm so paranoid.
sorry, I meant 12/10. I think I need some sleep...
while my goal school is actually Lewis and Clark, there is NO way I would turn down a chance at UCLA. Best of luck on your cycle.
I emailed them and asked my status. I recommend you do the same if you want to know, it's sort of dumb I know =/.
never sent me a completion notice or anything. Just the admission letter and email. Good luck!
I don't really have a particular school I'm leaning towards at the moment.
Thank you very much! Looks like we're both looking to stay in the New York area. Good luck to you also and I hope everything works out well for you.
Yeah, that would be great! I know you'll get into all the schools~ And congrats on finally going complete at Loyola. I know that wait for Loyola to go complete absolutely killed me.
Thanks for your message. I'm torn between four schools right now, Iowa, Indiana Bloomington, Marquette, and Valparaiso. Haven't heard any scholarship info from Marquette, though. Honestly, right now I'm leaning toward Valparaiso. I visited yesterday and fell in love with the campus and law school. I thought Bloomington would be my first choice, but for some reason, I just loved Valparaiso. What school are you hoping to go to?
USC is my pie in the sky, but i'll be very happy to go to loyola. I'll likely be withdrawing from chapman and arizona shortly. how about you? top pick?
Thanks...good luck to you.
Thank you. Loyola received my app on 11/01/2007 and I received my decision on 01/11/2008. Good luck to you.
Good Luck to you too. Congratulations on getting into NYLS. I just got a rejection from Brooklyn but i guess it was a longshot anyway. (sry for not responding for so long. hadnt seen ure message)bye
My top choice is St. John's. But I would be happy to go to any of the schools I applied to really. But hoping St. Johns accepts me. Whats your top choice?
for the congrats. Congrats to you too on NYLS. I would have to say my top choice is American or Pitt, although American would be part time. However, I'm pretty happy about Loyola. Any of the chicago schools are fine with me. How bout yourself?
Nope, sorry, haven't applied to or filled out any financial aid forms yet. I'm hoping to get through all that this week.
Congrats on NYU! I'm getting more and more anxious about LLS.. especially at the fact that my chances of receiving a scholarship are getting smaller and smaller. I just hope they don't run out by the time they decide to accept us! I'm tempted to call but I don't know what to say.. "Hey, even Hastings has accepted me. What's wrong with you guys??"
Yeah, I think I'm going to try to wait a few more weeks - maybe the end of the month. I'm assuming they'll be sending out rejections by then... But I must stay optimistic. Let's hang in there! I'm sure our acceptances are on their way!
aww, the first rejection always hurts.. But at least now you know you'll be studying law in either NY or CA :D I actually just withdrew from being considered for Loyola's evening program. I know I took a risk...
Valparaiso wasn't necessarily my top choice...I just liked it a lot when I visited. Actually, Marquette has been my top choice all along, I just didn't know if I'd be able to go there (depending on scholarships, etc...I didn't want to make it my first choice until I'd heard more from them). It's close to my home and family, and the best decision for me is to stay close. So, now I'm almost certain I'm going to Marquette.
Hey, Just completed the Need Access app this weekend. want to get it in by the March 1st deadline - how about you?
I'm still uncertain as to where I'll go. I think once I get some Financial Aid packages, it will make a difference. Congrats on NYLS, maybe we'll meet up there.
I'm sorry about Fordham. I bet you're feeling very anxious right now. Don't worry, you still have a lot of other schools left. Besides, if anything, you have NYLS to fall back on, which means you can stay in the NY area :) Although that would probably prevent our going to the same school :( I'm sure you're going to soon have a dilemma on which school you want to attend because you're going to have so many to choose from. Just hang in there!
haha. That's okay. My wall is all yours. But yeah, USD was my back up back up, and Pepperdine is also a bit too conservative for me too, and that's why I was so nervous about Loyola. Speaking of Loyola, I went to decision yesterday. FINALLY! I still haven't received the letter yet, so I'm not 100% sure whether it's an acceptance. *crossing fingers* I hope you hear soon from them!!
I'll be riding out the UCLA waitlist I have, and praying for USC. So I doubt I'll know for a while! What are you thinking?
i FIIIINALLY got my acceptance packet today!! I'm definitely leaning towards Loyola at the moment. HOWEVER, if I haaaaaappen to get into USC or UCLA, then of course that changes things. As of now, not considering USC/UCLA, my #1 is Loyola and #2 is Pepperdine. What about you? What would be your ideal?
Neither have said anything specific, but I remember seeing somewhere that Loyola sends their stuff late, like May late.
In that case, our top choices and ideal situation are the same! We are destined to attend the same school! I know you'll be spending the next 3 years in LA! Also, the LLS packet said scholarship info comes separately. From what I gather, I think it usually comes about a week later. I really hope they at least match what Pepperdine has offered!
Hey, I never got a formal notification but I got an email with Need Access Helpful Tips. I also checked back on the site and it said processed. I guess Need Access doesn't give a formal notice of completion. We'll see what happens. Have you heard anything?
Trust me, I know how you feel about Loyola. It took them about 4 MONTHS after I submitted my app to receive a decision. I hope it doesn't take nearly as long for you! Also, Need Access sent you a confirmation? Was it via e-mail? I don't think I recieved any sort of confirmation. I submitted a few weeks ago.
yeah RU-N is still my top choice...i should be making a decision within the next couple weeks. prolly won't be going to NYLS bc it will be too expensive for me
Hey, It's very true about the schools in common. I'm still in limbo about where I'll be headed next year. I guess I'm waiting moreso on the financial aid packages, Let's see what they offer. Are you inclinced to 1 school over the other?
Thanks, and congrats to you too! Good luck with the rest of your cycle.
for the info re: need access
i would also have to say the schools in LA are appealing - i'm more of a big city person so LA, Philadelphia, Miami, NY and Chicago are my prospective choices. Even so, I don't wan't to get too excited until I get my financial aid packages. Are you going to the any of the NYLS admitted student days?
We also have USC in common - although I won't be holding my breath for them. I'm sorry about UCLA. I too would have been heart broken. But if it makes you feel better, UCLA is supposedly being extremely selective to try to climb the ranks. And I don't mean subtle changes. They haven't been accepting people who would have considered UCLA as targets. Many people believe this is going to bite them in their rear because many of the people they're currently accepting are going to withdraw and attend higher ranked schools like Berkeley and whatnot. In other words, don't be too bummed. I'm sure a lot of it had to do with their risk-taking strategy this cycle. Also, I don't think you would have utlimately picked Pepperdine in the end anyway, so you saved yourself some money. :]

also, I think Loyola is sending out rejections now. Your index number seems solid. I'm pretty sure your acceptance will come within the next few weeks!!
I don't know why my usc title posted soooo many times. I only hit submit once and didn't even refresh my browser... I guess I'm starting to monopolize your wall..
hey, im still unsure about NYLS - i will be checking out Philly and LA schools in April
Hey! I sent it 11.27.08, and I heard a little over a week ago. I'd say 8 weeks total, so you should be hearing shortly :). Best of luck to you! Your stats and soft factors look good. I'm definitely an outlier, but I'm not gonna complain, haha. I'll be checkin' on you to see how it goes. Take care.
Oh, and my top choice is American because they have this dual degree program that I'm interested in. However, I'm gonna put a deposit down for Loyola in the meantime. I'm also going on a road trip to southern Cali to see some of the schools in the area. Hey, maybe I'll fall in love with U of San Diego or somethin', ya never know...
Hey, haven't heard anything regarding financial aid, but that's probably because I just submitted my FAFSA last week (for some reason I kept putting this off... pretty dumb on my part). I'm hoping to get my results in about 2-3 weeks, just when I'm making my school decisions.
At this point, I'm still undecided. FT or PT doesn't matter to me, I actually applied to the specific program on my chances of getting in. I visited Chicago and Loyola a few weeks back, really loved Loyola. I'm from NYC, and Chicago is a very comparable city (just smaller, obviously). But Pitt also gave me some good money, so I'm going to visit there end of the month. Still waiting to hear from a few others, but unless anything knocks my socks off, it'll come down to Loyola and Pitt... as of now, lol.
No, I only submitted my FAFSA last week. I really liked NYLS when I visited, and their new building will be great. I'm probably going to choose Rutgers. I think that would have been a good place for you to apply. Good luck with the other schools.
Good luck to you too!! What is your new top choice?
Good luck to you too!! What is your new top choice?
I think i want to do international law, but I'm not really sure. Criminal law has always interested me, but I also like sports law. I def. don't want to do litigation. Who knows, I might be influenced into something totally different during my first year. How bout yourself?
Yeah, I'm reaching but Fordham and Cardozo are my two top choices.
I believe my deposits are due around the 1st or 15th of April. What about you? So did you ever end up applying to Pepperdine? Or did the mission statement portion deter you? I know many people end up not applying because they don't want to spend any more time writinging another essay. Also, I too am a little disappointed I was offered less at Loyola - even if it's only $2,000 a year. But at the same time, I'm very thankful.
SJU said that 1st deposit is due April 1 (250) and the second is due June 15 (500). Are they your top choice? Good luck to u on the rest of your cycle/
I'm still undecided, waiting on financial aid award notices - As of now, I'm gearing towards BC and UC Hastings - We'll see what happens :)
Since I'm planning on keeping my full-time job, Loyola and Southwestern's evening program were my only LA options. I'm rooting for Loyola, but it's been so long that I just want to hear back from either school. I figure I'll probably have a coronary and croak when any envelope reaches my mailbox. I've got my fingers crossed for you--but anyway it goes, you're going to law school this Fall! Congrats!
Hey- The scholarship came with my acceptance letter. However, it may be a bit different because it was for the SCALE program-- I know that its a bit different then the regular program in terms of who makes the decisions. Good Luck!
Hey, Congrats on Southwestern! My scholarship $ came with the acceptance letter but I have yet to receive formal financial aid notice. If anything, you might want to ask them to give an award notice beforehand. I hope this helps ;)
Such exciting news about your Southwestern acceptance--my Loyola status checker moved to decision today, so I should know by the week's end! No word from Southwestern yet, but we may definitely be bookworms at SW together. Congrats again!
HI! Sorry, I've been sooo busy the past few days and I haven't had the chance to log on, BUT CONGRATS ON SOUTHWESTERN!!! Does that mean you'll be moving to LA area for sure? I'm very excited for you~ Although your dilemma re: financial aid award letter and deposit seems a bit absurd. Nevertheless, CONGRATS~ Also, I'm not exactly from LA, but I live about an hour or two away from there :D Let me know when you visit~ And congrats again hehe
Congrats, I was just a little curious on how you were notified.
In at Loyola! After this long, long wait it feels amazing to have good news returned. I have my fingers crossed for the rest of your cycle--keep me posted!
congrats on southwestern the scholarship was part of the acceptance letter it was the Wildman Merit Scholarship. But i applied for financial aid from southwestern and your elgible for more scholarships through that. BTW your from new york i applied to University at Buffalo its part of SUNY have you been there ever? Any insight?
I'm not sure about putting down a deposit at NYLS. I applied to it as my safety, and I got into a few other schools I'd rather go to. So, probably not, but I still have a few more days, so maybe?!
on the acceptances!! Though I'm bummed, we have almost identical numbers as well as factors like Dean's List and The National Dean's List, and Golden Key, and USG, etc. I was really hoping for Fordham and Cardozo to be the schools in NY to actually accept me.
I'm currently undecided. Obviously, Fordham is #1 but I think I'd more rather go to BLS than Cardozo despite the difference in ranking. After that is SJU then NYLS. You from NYC? HIGH FIVE fellow New Yorker. Good luck on the rest of your cycle and be sure to let me know where you end up (I need more class of2011 buddies)!
I think, as of now, I'm headed to Loyola Chicago for the PT program. But i got a big scholarship from PItt and will be visiting the admitted students open house this upcoming weekend. Gotta make sure I like the city and stuff, and if it's a good fit, I could be headed there. How bout yourself?
So, firstly, congrats on SW! And if you didnt glean it from my updated profile, Loyola wasnt all that great--the campus at least. Im investigating other options but am definitely still considering it. I did, however, like L.A. a lot and the prospect of working/living there. Btw, how was your match?

The award letter came with my acceptance. I received $5000 per year. The amount listed on my account is for all three years.
Mostly April 1 and April 15. If BLS/Dozo/Fordham/SJU do not get back to me by NYLS' date, I will send in a deposit.
Oh, no. That's all I got too. I misunderstood you. I did not get my financial aid award letter. I just got my acceptance with the Faculty Scholarship letter on Saturday.
Got it.
Hey, Not sure about what's up with Southwester, it might be because I applied earlier; hope that helps. I didn't get a NYLS financial award letter yet, I'm hoping it comes soon to make a decision. I'll keep you posted.
Still no word from SW, but I am pumped about Loyola and will probably go there. The deposit date isn't until the 15th, so I can still change my mind. What are you thinking?
LSN is definitely like crack.
Nope, no award letter yet. I've only gotten two award letters so far.. pittsburgh and john marshall. Still waiting on the rest.
no word about financial aid from southwestern. I also have no idea where I'm going, and I seem to change my mind every hour. Do you have any idea where you are going to end up?
they are taking extremely wrong. i called them too and the person on the phone told me I ve been waiting a long time and promised me she would place the application that day to the committee for a decision. I got into nyls. By the way do you think NYLS is a good school and whether its worth the money to go there? ivw heard good things and bad things so i dont know what to think. im going to go to an open house hopefully get some information about it
Yes, I just got my NYLS financial aid letter today. I guess it's just taking them a while. Good luck!
still did not get my financial aid award letter from nyls. im actually going to the open house this friday. I spoke to a financial aid counselor. you dont get any grants but he said everyone is eligible for the federal loans and if you dont have much income the 8500 dollar subsidized loan too. As for need access mentioned that even if your parents make a decent income you cans still be eligible for some need based grants. yeah st. johns did fall quite alot this year
Still no word from Loyola? :/ I actually need to send in my deposit soon. I keep forgetting. What about you? Also, did you figure out your financial aid situation?
I want to practice corporate law, but I have an open mind so Rutgers is a great fit and happy to be committed to school!
Finally Got an answer from St. Johns. Did not want to get waitlisted but oh well. Looks like I am headed to NYLS. Went to the open house yesterday for NYLS and it looks like a good school. Glad the waiting period is over for me. Atleast I know im going to law school. Hope you get positive answers back from the schools your still waiting for soon.
Any updates? Will you go to SJU if you get accepted?
I know! I actually called them yesterday and they said my app is being reviewed. I guess that's better than a rejection :] I also mailed in my deposit to Loyola yesterday. What about you? Have you mailed in a deposit yet?
I'm heading up to SJU today to hand in my deposit. So, if BLS and Cardozo don't come through, I'll be at SJU in the Fall. You?
I just submitted a deposit to SJU this morning..and RIGHT AFTER I left SJU, I got a call from BLS offering me a PT seat with priority FT placement if seats open. WTF!!!! lol, I don't know what to do, haha. Anyway, I'll talk to you on AIM. -=]
What did your award letter look like from NYLS? Where are you thinking of going from your remaining choices?
I went to decision on 4-14 yesterday. I'm not feeling good vibes...waitlist at best I think, esp considering people with the same #s layout as us.
Thanks. Good Luck wherever you end up. hope you like it there.
Hey, just wanted to let you know I've decided to attend Chicago Kent this fall. It came down to between that, Loyola chicago, and pittsburgh, but I just wasn't in love with the city of Pittsburgh, and Chicago would be better suited for me coming from New York. I wish you the best of luck in wherever you choose, and please keep me updated.
I don't know...I've visited Southwestern like 3 times in the past 3 months and I like it, but I also went down to visit SD and it was nice down there too. Tough decision.
Sorry to hear about Loyola...But you still have SWU..in Cali!! That's where you want to be anyway, which is awesome. Good luck!
Hey, you can hit me up on AIM: AssSlappinDaddy (yea, I know... it's from HS, and never bothered to change it). Good luck the rest of the way though. Cali should be fun!
I'm on here at least once a day. I just updated some stuff.
Tell me about it! I've been riding waitlists for ever and St. Johns is taking so long! I just want to be done with this process!
I am sorry about the Fordham/Cardozo rejections. Bummer! Still, it looks like you have been offered some great scholarships.
yea I'm going to do that. Although I send in my deposit to NYLS if I get into St. John's or Cardozo I would rather go there. plus the money that I would lose on the deposit would be more than made up by tuition being somewhat less at St. John's. So right now are u going to Southwestern and would u go to St. John's if you did get off the waitlist?
I will be attending, but I will be part-time. I hope finish in \'11 though, after a swtich to full time after a year. Wait...are you moving from New York to LA?
I am from LA, so if you need to know anything. I basically know everything there is to know. My AIM is Dacurly1, I have facebook and all that crap too. If you plan on staying in the LA area after SW, you will be in a solid position. Have you been to LA before or lived here?
Congrats! I look forward to seeing you in classes. Like someone else said, if you need advice about anything LA, let me know, I\'ve lived here my entire life.
I do have facebook. You can reach me at: http://www.facebook.com/people/Mike_Joy/10800568 I hardly ever log in here anymore because the decision has been made. It is also easier to communicate and a little more private on facebook. Look me up soon and I will be more than happy to help you with information about living in Los Angeles.
Hey, I haven\'t heard from you since your inquiries on my scholarship money. Congrats on Southwestern!
looks like you got off the waitlist at st. johns too. is there any possibility you\'ll be attending st. johns over southwestern or are you set for southwestern
Thank you! Good Luck with your applications as well.
