Additional info & updates

07/23/07 - In at Seattle (only after flying to Chicago and finding a great apartment). It's the right school for me, I know it.

06/21/07 - Spoke with Seattle and they didn't offer acceptance to anyone from the waitlist after the June 15th seat deposit deadline. Email from USF telling me that I am still on the waitlist, no status change. Super.

06/13/07 - Just noticed how much USF dropped in the 2008 US News & report law school rankings. It's at 100th place now! There are already so many prestigious law schools in the bay area, USF does not need to drop any lower!

05/30/07 - Sent seat deposit to Kent. Still crossing my fingers about the waitlists so I can have some choices here.

05/27/07 - Email from the Dean of Chicago Kent. I got accepted!!!!

5/23/07 - Email from Florida Coastal School of Law offering me automatic admission and $15,000/per year scholarship. At least someone wants me. I don't think I could move there though.

5/01/07 - Deferred by Chicago Kent and deferred/waitlisted by Seattle. Anyone have any opinion whether it's better to be waitlisted or deferred?

4/23/07 - Letter from Seattle apologizing for taking so long. Decision mailed same day.

4/10/07 - Sent letters of continued interest to Kent and Seattle. Fingers crossed. I'm sure the schools are just taking a while to formulate my comprehensive scholarship package (tee hee).

3/26/07 - Spoke with someone at USF who said a decision was made on Fri and a letter is in the mail. I don't think this is good news, as it appears I would have heard via email if I was going to be offered admission. This is crazy. Maybe I just need to retake the LSAT.

3/19/07 - Rejected by Hastings via WebAdvisor. I don't know why I wasted the $ applying, as I had little interest in actually going there. Heard the campus is run down. I guess I just wanted to see...
Still, it's time for a little positive feedback here! Maybe I should have aimed a little lower with my apps?

3/17/07 Heard from Lewis & Clark earlier this week. The letter was pretty vague - said they couldn't offer me admission right now but would keep my application and review it a second time if there were any seats left. They're the first school I've heard from. Really hoping for Seattle or USF!

3/16/07 Withdrew my application from Davis since my check for the application fee bounced. Whoops! I wouldn't have been accepted anyway...

Lewis and Clark

That letter from Lewis and Clark sounds pretty weird. So they didn't actually use the word waitlist? Many of us have received deferment letters and I wonder if you got the same one. Mine said that they will keep my file active and that no decision has yet been made (although it said that they could not offer me admission at this time). It also said that I will hear again in late April or early May. Good luck to you. What's your first choice?

Ok yeah, that's exactly what my letter said. Which is fine, I guess. My first choice is SeattlU. I visited the school and it just felt like such a fit. But I realize that I got my apps in late in the cycle (not my fault - letter of recs took forever to get) so I'll reapply next year if things don't work out. Good luck to you too!!!

good luck

hopefully some of these go though -- if you don't get a great deal, you can always get some experience and apply to more next yr. L&C sent me an outrageously goofy rejection letter: something like "however, we are aware that some of the applicants not accepted at Lewis and Clark do go on to become successful at other law schools"

hang in there

I still worship the pacific NW -- esp. after getting shot down by U of O and L&C -- it only feeds the desire to move up there. (wondering why you hate Eugene?) But I'm going to play it safe and get my education in my home town - probably the best choice anyhw. Good luck again.

I was rejected. Hope you get off that waitlist.

Kent

Congrats on Kent!! I'm deciding between Kent and John Marshall right now. I still don't know if Kent is giving me a scholarship. If they do I may end up going there, but if not it will be hard for me to say no to John Marshall's scholarship offer.

At this point, I just want an acceptance and Ill deal without money.

Chicago-Kent Question
Monday, June 18 2007 at 08:00 PM

Hello! the only reason I didn't apply to Chicago-Kent was because I didn't know it existed. Otherwise, it would have been one of my options. I'm sorry, I wish I had a better answer for you! Of the schools you applied to, I definitely like it the best, congrats!

Hope you're enjoying Seattle U. I, too, was waitlisted and our background are somewhat similar. Fingers crossed for me
