Additional info & updates

03/10/06: Have been away for Spring Break so unable to check my mail...came home to a wonderful surprise! 3 letters from FSU saying that I've been accepted to Florida State!!! (the letters were dated 03-03-06)

03/09/06: My application to Kent has been sent to the admissions committee

03/16/06: Got an email from Hofstra inviting me to a dinner in Atlanta for accepted students...now just waiting for the actual letter and hoping for $$$

03/20/06: Received letter from Seton Hall...$8,750 each year if I keep above a 3.0, $4375 if I remain above a 2.9 (letter dated 03/16)

03/24/06: Waitlisted for American. Can't say that I'm surprised, though I was really hoping I'd get lucky (letter dated 03/20/06).

03/24/06: Deferred from Rutger's - Newark (letter dated 03/20/06).

03/27/06: Waitlisted at Loyola Chicago (Letter dated 03/20/06). :(

03/28/06: Was finally able to get through at Hofstra...Still haven't received my letter but I got a t-shirt from them today...so weird. Called and found out I had been awarded $60,000 over three years...that's a lot...so now I don't know what to do.

03/31/06: How was I denied from Northeastern? I expected to be waitlisted, yeah, but outright denied? (letter dated 03/27/06)

04/03/06: Acceptance letter from PennState (letter dated 03/30/06).

04/05/06: Rejected from GW...it was expected so I'm not too upset (letter dated 03/31/06).

04/07/06: Denied from BC...what a shocker (letter dated 04/03/06).

04/07/06: Got my letter from George Mason...waitlisted...I was surprised because I was afraid that I had gotten a denial. So, yay (letter dated 03/17/06)

04/10/06: Got a waitlist/deferral/partial-denial from Brooklyn...They said they said they were unable to come to a final decision so they would review my file later while putting me on the waitlist -- but will most likely not be offered a spot in the full-time class. May offer part-time. Weirdest letter I have ever gotten (letter 04/05/06).

04/17/06: Letter from Cardozo dated 4/12/06...invited me to be considered for the May program...am going to -- sounds interesting. Also received letter from St. John's with an acceptance offer.

04/21/06: Received letter from Kent saying I was deferred...really bummed out. I expected it, but I really wanted to go there. *sigh* (letter dated 4/17/06)

04/26/06: Email update from Rutgers waitlisting me? Huh? Did I miss something or are they just trying to climb in the numbers? Withdrawing my application.

05/08/06: Received email and letter today saying I am accepted to Chicago-Kent's full-time program!!! I can't believe it, I'm so excited! (letter dated 05-05-06).

05/11/06: Haha, I was waitlisted at Catholic. And so the season ends!

08/09/06: Accepted to the Brooklyn part-time program. Yeah, right.

I will be attending Chicago-Kent in the fall! I'm really really excited and happy -- Let me know if you are too!

it was a nicely worded rejection letter, not too snotty, not too overdone. davis, on the other hand, didn't like their letter at all. berkeley's was exactly what i expected of them and me and my friend both agree that it was the nicest rejection we've both gotten so far. :) btw, congrats on florida state.

ugh
thanks you too

Appeals

Yes, you can appeal a decision. I however like to call it a reconsideration. My numbers are no way near yours and it worked for me. I was rejected from Florida Coastal in December and could not believe it so, I wrote them and asked them to reconsider. As I said before they did and not even a month later I was in. All you can get back is a NO. However, I agree with Jon that you can't assume anything in this process. Be patient and it will come. Best wishes.

RE: Brooklyn Waitlist

Just saw your comment re: Brooklyn's waitlist. I was just shocked at how self-congratulatory it was. I also couldn't believe that a waitlist letter was so...lengthy. Needless to say, I didn't return the card for further consideration.

Sorry to hear about the deferral. I was bummed myself as it was a top choice for me. I checked the block to be considered for the full or part time and sent it in. Four days later I got the e-mail of congratulations so I am betting that it is only for Part Time...I still don't know how to feel about that. Plus, I am living in San Diego now and moving back to Chicago for part time might be tough =) Good luck!!

No, I didn't do anything special for Kent. I put the deferral notice in the mail on Monday asking them to continue to consider me for the FT and PT programs; on Friday I received an e-mail from the Dean saying "congrats, you're in!" Today (the next Monday), I received snail mail saying that I was accepted into the PT evening program. I have no idea whether that means I still have a shot at FT.

Hey! Good luck with your deferral there... I told them I only wanted to go there full time day division, and didn't send any kind of supplimental stuff. I'm still shocked that I got in! Good luck with the rest of your cycle, hopefully I will see you this fall!

CONGRATS!

Yay! Congrats on your acceptance to Kent! =) I'm actually on my way down there in about 10 minutes to go to some Dean's Program. I'll let you know how it goes if you are interested. Congrats again - hopefully I will see you in the fall!
