Good luck to anyone reading this! Feel free to comment - encouragement is appreciated! =)

I applied online through LSAC... Received is when the law schools asked for LSDAS Reports. Decision is the date on the letter.

The ranking numbers next to the schools are Tiers according to the 2005 US News & World Report Rankings

2 seemingly great letters of rec, personal statement about how education and diversity are linked in my life (lived four years in the Philippines attending an international school, and two months in Dublin), and how law relates to that

I would be happy to attend any of these schools, but I would prefer to stay in Chicago, as I grew up there.

________________________________________________________________

02/28 - Although it isn't law school related, I'm just excited to share that I have gotten past the first stage of applying for Teach For America, and have been invited to have an interview! Ah! This is exciting! At least something is going right! =)

03/09 - IN AT MSU!!! WOOHOO!!! I'm going to law school! Pretty excited that I will be somewhere next year, although MSU is definitely not my first choice. Also glad that my first decision was an acceptance. Regular sized white envelope.

03/19 - Back from spring break to a rejection from Notre Dame - no big surprise there.

03/28 - The Great Notification Letter Depression of '06 continues...

03/30 - Waitlisted at both Loyola Chicago and Northeastern... probably what I get for applying so late!

04/03/06 - My mom IMed me telling me they got a letter addressed to me from Fordham with a ding... kinda weird that they sent something to my permanent address (which doesn't go into effect until May 1st)...

04/08/06 - Deferred at Chicago Kent and in at John Marshall... maybe I will be going to school in Chicago! Yay! Also received the Dean's Scholarship at John Marshall = $30,000 a year renewable annually as long as I'm in the top 20% of my class. Nice.

04/10/06 - Rejected at Boston College (again, no surprise) and waitlisted at DePaul... Chicago is showing me no love... I guess I'll have to wait it out! Also received a scholarship at MSU that covers the expense of half the credits I take every semester.

04/13 - Waitlisted at IU - holy crap. This is great news! It's my only shot at a tier one... I think the only reason that happened is because I go her undergrad. Haha.

04/19 - Accepted into NYLS thru e-mail. Sweet.
04/19 - ACCEPTED TO CHICAGO KENT! YESSSS!!!!!!! =) Got off the deferred list and into the school... holy crap! SO HAPPY RIGHT NOW!!! Time to go out and celebrate! =)

04/21 - Letter from Chicago-Kent welcoming me to the Day Division of the Fall 2006 semester. YAY! Also a First-Year Grant of $10,000

04/24 - So. I've checked the "attending" box at Chicago Kent. The more I learn about their program, the more I fall in love with going to this school. It's in Chicago, close to where I grew up in the suburbs, and I'm already so enamored with the city (not to mention I have a spot waiting for me in an apartment four blocks away from Wrigley... holy crap!). Their IP program is great, and they put such an emphasis on writing - for an English major, that makes me happy. Really, I'm just waiting for IU's waitlist - but at the same time, I don't think I want to be in Bloomington for another three years... so I'm going to say 85% I'll be at Kent next year... =)

04/25 - Received a letter from NYLS telling me I have been selected to be a Dean Scholar... $20,000 renewable each year if I have a 3.2.
In other news, I think that I will have decided 100% by Friday... Chicago Kent is looking mighty nice...

04/28 - Have decided I am definitely going to school in Chicago - either Chicago Kent or Loyola, depending on the waitlist. I received an e-mail today from Loyola saying they are sending their waitlist decisions either May 5th or May 8th. Will know soon! =)

05/24 - Finally heard from NIU - got in, as expected, but not going there. Will withdrawl shortly. Still waiting to hear from the rest of my waitlists, but it's looking like I'll be a student at Chicago Kent in the fall (barring Loyola offering me tons of money... if I get off the waitlist in June...)

06/28 - Sorry so long since I've updated, but I don't think anyone really cares. Haha. Anyway, definitely going to Chicago Kent in the fall, and so excited about it! Still on the waitlist for IU, just because I want to see if I would have gotten in. It might be an idea to transfer there after a year if I don't like Kent. We shall see.

Sent is usually when you send your app either through LSAC, or in the mail, recieved can be found through LSAC. Then most schools let you know when you app is considered 'complete' either through e-mail or snail mail. Decision is the ding, defferal, waitlist or acceptance to the school. Different people may date everything differently. I hope I helped! Good Luck with your applications. I hope you get all acceptances and lots of money! :)

You have some great numbers and I think you should get accepted to most of your schools. It's nice to see someone being realistic too. So many seem naive about their chances. So.... what is your AIM?

Hi there. Thanks for your encouragement and comment about my name. I visited chi-town like 4 times before I made my complete decision that I wouldn't move and go to law school or practice anywhere else the rest of my life. I love it here and I've only been here for 2 months and I know I made the right decision. Hope to see you at Kent. Your numbers are a lot better than mine, so I'm sure you'll get in. Good luck.

Why were you so late? Feb LSAT? May hurt you a bit. But help you as well. I'm going to say IN at John Marshall Michagan State NYLS Northeastern NIU Waitlist at Loyola Out at Notre Dame and Kent Biggest surprise might be a waitlist from those bastards depaul. You seem to have applied to mostly obvious schools. You maybe could have shot more middle of the road on some. I think you will get money to all of your acceptences.

Thanks

So if you get into New York Law, would you bear the expenses of NYC and pick NYL over Michigan State Law? I'm in at SJU, waiting for Brooklyn, but regardless will remain in NYC. Just dropping a line, b/c it's who you know and you just might be another NYC attorney.

Good for you!!!

Congratulations on Kent. But you probably won't see me, because I'm in the evening division, not the day division. I didn't have an LSAT good enough for the day division. Anyway, Kent's a great school. Having attended John Marshall for 2 weeks, I will tell you it's a much better choice and better opportunity to go to Kent. The school atmosphere at John Marshall is NOT friendly at all and the professors pretty much suck and are boring and you learn more by reading the book than you do in class. So...I would advise you to choose Kent over John Marshall. But good luck to you. I love Chicago, it is a great city with marvelous opportunities after graduation. I don't know what kind of law you want to practice, but the professors at Kent are excellent, they have great clinics and man, it's only 4 blocks from my condo! I just want to get started, the wait is killing me!!!

Congrats! I really want to get into Kent and our numbers are similar -- so here's hoping! When you sent back your deferral letter did you indicate that you would be interested in both programs or just full time?

Hey, congrats on Kent. I think I'm headed there (but in the evening program). You mentioned their IP program - is that what you're interested in studying?

Thanks for the kind words...good luck to you at Kent. I would LOVE to represent the Irish pride in Chicago but only got accepted to the part time program and I am not sure/can't tell from the letter if that means my name is now off the waitlist for the Full time program. Hope to see you there in the Fall!!!
