I took four years off between undergrad and law school. In that time, I actually did some pretty fun things and had some great opportunities.

Jobs I Held Post-College:
White House Intern
Political Campaign Committees Lackey
Professional Bum

My undergraduate career was not particularly stellar academically and I didn't write a thesis, but I kept busy.

Stuff I Did In College:
Leadership in CG (Vice President and Secretary/Treasurer)
Pseudo-Sorority President
Campus Contrarian
Took a semester off in 2002 to do campaign work

05/12 - So my cycle is done-done (it has been for awhile, but I was out of town and am just getting around to doing the updating thing). I'm totally stoked.

04/27 - I finally called Harvard, and they said a waitlist letter had been mailed. Hot.

04/23 - I've now withdrawn from everywhere except Harvard, mostly for masochistic reasons.

04/20 - GO MAROONS!!!!!!!!!!!!! I just received a financial package that is more to my liking than what was originally offered. Even though I was 97% before this, I'm 100% now!

04/06 - And I was so expecting a waitlist from UT. Oh well.

03/30 - Got my scholarship money from UVA. As much as I like the school, it isn't enough to pull me from a full-ride at Michigan.

03/28 - Yawn.

03/02 - The inevitable Yale rejection arrived in the mail. As cool as it would be to be one of the 7%, I'm pretty sure Yale wouldn't have been the best place for me anyway. So, I'm completely not bummed.

02/27 - My thumbs are getting tired. Perhaps I sounded like a mental midget after all.

02/18 - Twiddling my thumbs.

02/07 - Phone call with Dean Stock. I'm crossing my fingers that my instincts are right and I didn't sound like a mental midget, but my instincts have been known to be wrong in the past.

02/02 - Phone call email from Dean Stock.

01/19 - Accepted to the University of Chicago! Phone call from Mary Beth Wynn!

01/09 - Held at Harvard, courtesy of an email. So, not a rejection, woohoo!

12/21 - Call from Dean Zearfoss offering me a full Darrow!!!

12/20 - Accepted to UVA! (Does anyone even read this? Apparently not...)

12/05 - Darrow invite from Dean Zearfoss. Made me feel warm and fuzzy.

11/18 - Accepted to Michigan! I figure this is an auspicious day for acceptance to UMich... (And, no, I did not write "Why Michigan")

11/10 - Held at UT, courtesy of an email. Ugh. (Pondering this nearly two months later, this has me totally bummed. I look really good in burnt orange.)

11/01 - Accepted to Georgetown! Thin white envelope with very nice handwritten note.

Why not NYU or Columbia? Good luck!

I like New York for finite periods of time, but wouldn't want to go to school there. So, no NYU or Columbia for me! Thanks for the luck (and for ending my very blank page)!

Hmm

You're definitely very, very odd. No NY and no California. I'm rooting for you anyway, odd or no. Good luck, chica.

Congrats

on your Georgetown acceptance! Maybe we'll end up at the same place. Either way, we should definitely eat together.

Disagree

Disagree with redemption on you being very, very odd. Despite contrary belief, some people don't think that New York is the center of the universe, and realize that one can be just as successful if they want to end up living somewhere else. I've spent the last four years in Ithaca, NY, and needless to say, am only applying to law schools south of the Mason-Dixon line. Good luck with everything and congrats on Georgetown!

well...

I think red. thinks I'm very, very odd for all sorts of reasons. :)

It's all good

Bummer about the UT hold. At least it's not a rejection, and at the same time, I'd love to go to UT, but I'd run off to DC in a minute, especially if they end up offering up some money. Austin is a great town, but DC is just a flat-out sexy heart of politics! You're going to end up somewhere great!

Hold
Thursday, November 09 2006 at 07:00 PM

Hey. I was wondering, how did you hear about your hold at UT? via the online status check? or email?

Well, gee
Thursday, February 16 2006 at 07:00 PM

Michigan's a good school. Better than UT anyway. Congrats.

Congrats to you, too

We are representing for our alma mater, yo.

What in the world
Thursday, February 16 2006 at 07:00 PM

is the point of stalking your LSN page if there's rarely any action on it? I want to see some admits, dammit.

well, red...
Thursday, February 23 2006 at 07:00 PM

I would like some LSN action too...can't you make a call or something? I know you have special magical admissions powers - don't hold out on me! :p

on a great cycle so far - i got held at Chicago =( As for hls, i am also twiddling my thumbs excessively after my phone interview in mid-Feb. i think there are officially three of us in the same boat according to lsd - maybe even more. *sigh*

You are a sweetheart
Wednesday, October 11 2006 at 08:00 PM

I'm pinning my hopes on "no news is good news," but I have great fears for the next 3/4 of my cycle. Bah humbug, I shoulda started sooner. Anyway, thanks for the cheery little note, makes the day go by faster.

Texas
Thursday, April 20 2006 at 08:00 PM

They held you, really? I guess they have to have 70% of their class be TX residents. Everyone looks good in burnt orange... Mich is better anyway!

fingers crossed!
Sunday, November 26 2006 at 07:00 PM

i just saw your post now - i havent had much to update on my lsn page these days. (I only religiously check all the hls acceptances everyday) i have my fingers crossed for your second t-stock call too sillyberry!

Calling Harvard?
Sunday, March 04 2007 at 07:00 PM

So Harvard will tell you if you call? I'm still waiting for a letter from them and it's driving me crazy since deposits for everyone else are due soon! I didn't want to call them since they say they won't tell you on the phone, but...

Food
Friday, April 21 2006 at 08:00 PM

So we never got to eat our way through any cities, but there's still plenty of time for that when you visit AA or I visit Chicago!

Darrow
Friday, March 02 2007 at 07:00 PM

How do you think you got the Darrow at michigan?
