Additional info & updates

4/20/07
I've finally decided on University of Michigan! I'll be notifying them and withdrawing from everywhere else this week. That should free up a lot of scholarship money! :-D

04/16/07
Received the call that I've been selected for a scholarship program at NYU!!! I have to let them know by Thursday. No pressure! In case you're interested, it's the Law and Business Scholars Program.

04/05/07
Received scholarship letter from Chicago today (dated March 19, stupid slow international mail)! Yay!!!

03/13/07
Maybe it's just me, but it's a little irritating when people leave messages asking you to withdraw. Clearly people don't just hold on to acceptances to hoard them like gold! There isn't a single school that I have been accepted to that I'm 100% sure I wouldn't attend, and until I am sure I will not be withdrawing. If you don't like it, tough!

03/12/07
Just got my rejection from Yale. Oh well, it's pretty much expected. On the other hand, it sucks that my final decision was a rejection. I kind of wished that I hadn't applied so that I would have had a full sweep! :-/

Also got some scholarship info from Duke (not nearly enough, will be withdrawing soon) and GULC (half Dean's Scholarship). I'll still be using that Duke flash drive though!

02/02/07
Just got the call from Dean Perry! I actually missed the call because I was down the hall, but as soon as I saw the number, Chicago immediatly came to mind. I listened to the message and knew I was in! I called back and we talked briefly, and now I have her direct number for any questions. Yay!

01/25/07
My letter from Columbia was sent via email since I'm international.
01/23/07
I just got the call from Dean Zearfoss informing me that I am the recipient of a full Darrow!!! WOW! I don't even know what to say. She mentioned that she wanted me to be chosen and was glad that the faculty committee agreed!

01/11/07
Removed W&L from the list, since I never sent in the dean's certification.

01/10/07
Came home to an acceptance letter from Vandy dated December 20! It had arrived sometime last week! Schools that send letters via international priority mail (Michigan) are definitely appreciated!

01/08/07
IN AT HARVARD! Got the call when I was about to get on the Space Mountain ride at Disney! Soooooo awesome! This has certainly made my decision a lot harder...

01/03/07
Got the Harvard call today while I was at an outlet mall. I think it went ok, though I felt that I could have elaborated more on my job and activities. The salespeople must have thought I was crazy, walking around their store on my cell phone!

12/22/06
In at Northwestern via email!

12/21/06
Just got the Penn call!!!! I'm so excited! I wanna make tons of noise, but of course I can't since I'm at work. YAY PENN!

12/07/06
Came home to acceptances from Duke, Michigan and Georgetown! I'm beyond excited to get my first three in the same day, especially since I saw a small envelope (complete letter) from Michigan first! YAY!!!

11/29/06
Complete at Columbia! Now if I could start getting some decisions... ;-)

11/28/06
Decision email from Duke!!! Hope the postal service is fast!

11/13/06
Complete at Vandy! Still haven't started my NYU essay, though. What am I doing?

11/07/06
First complete at Georgetown! Whoo hoo!

11/06/06
The only application left to go is NYU. I have another essay to write for them, and just don't know how to start it. I'm not going to apply to any other schools unless they send me fee waivers. I'm happy with the list of schools that I'm applying to and hopefully they'll be happy with me! :-)

10/30/06
Finally sent off the first of my applications! YAY!

10/24/06
UVA fee waiver

10/4/06
Vandy fee waiver

9/21/06
Northwestern fee waiver

9/18/06
Columbia fee waiver!

9/17/06
I finally finished a draft of my ps. Though it needs a looooot of editing, I think it's a good start and I'm well on my way to having the first of my apps out before the end of the month.
I'm still trying to decide on a strategy for when I send out my apps. Do I send them all at once, wait until I hear from the early ones before sending another round, send the ones that I really want first, etc? I kind of want to wait a little on Yale and Harvard, as they are my biggest reaches and I want to make sure that my statements are completely polished before taking that step.

9/16/06
Just found out that I've got fee waivers from NYU and Michigan. YAAAAAAAAAY!

**Received is when they received my report
**Decision is the date on the acceptance letter

yet, I haven't really researched schools. I'll probably put them up when the 2006-2007 application cycle becomes available.

Congrats, MoniLi!
Tuesday, June 27 2006 at 08:00 PM

And best of luck in your cycle.

Great LSAT score!
Monday, May 01 2006 at 08:00 PM

I'm sure you're going to dominate this app cycle. Do you really need that many backups?

Yes!
Friday, April 21 2006 at 08:00 PM

I do need that many backups! :-) Jk. I'll probably apply to the safeties based on what fee waivers I get. And of course I have to apply to my alma mater.

lsat score-congrats!
Thursday, January 19 2006 at 07:00 PM

hi, i think i saw you posted on lsd your score improvement by 20 points! any advice/strategies?

Wasn't me
Friday, April 21 2006 at 08:00 PM

Hey CC, I didn't improve by that much, as my diagnostic score was in the upper 160s. I can tell you what worked for me in terms of lsat prep. PM me on lsd if you're interested.

question about lsat...
Monday, August 07 2006 at 08:00 PM

How long did you study for? I saw that u were working ft whiel studying and was wondering what it took for u to get a 175 (Nice!!!). Thanks !

lsat
Friday, April 21 2006 at 08:00 PM

I studied on and off since about January. I used Nova, LSAC Superprep, Kaplan 180 (not recommended) and 20something preptests. I wouldn't recommend studying that long because there was a period of a month or two when I was burnt out and hardly did anything. Just take your time and you'll be fine.

Congrats
Tuesday, August 15 2006 at 08:00 PM

Congrats...U will definately get in the top schools with that LSAT score

Looking Good
Thursday, June 01 2006 at 08:00 PM

Hey, you're going to do great this cycle, and that 175 is smokin' hot for sure. I never realized that you are from the islands...I am like an adopted son to some St. Lucians and Dominicans that live nearby. Good luck for sure, but I really don't think you'll need any luck to succeed.

Just general commiseration
Friday, April 28 2006 at 08:00 PM

I just wanted to say good luck to you. I enjoy your LSD persona, and I'm sure you will have a kick-ass cycle.

Awesome Numbers
Wednesday, August 16 2006 at 08:00 PM

You are going to have a great cycle!

thanks
Thursday, June 01 2006 at 08:00 PM

For all the help on LSD. Rock this cycle.

FTS
Yay!
Friday, April 28 2006 at 08:00 PM

Congrats on sending out the first of your apps! Feels good, doesn't it....

Michigan essays
Friday, April 28 2006 at 08:00 PM

I figure as long as you do some of the optional essays, you'll probably be okay. Anything to make it seem like you didn't just rubberstamp another app... But really, what do I know? Michigan seems cool, though! I'm liking it more and more.

mmm...food
Thursday, February 23 2006 at 07:00 PM

Undoubtedly all the schools will be clamoring for you as soon as you go complete. "I want MoniLi." "No, I want MoniLi!" I'm all about eating my way through any city! :)

!!
Thursday, May 25 2006 at 08:00 PM

I see that you submitted a batch of applications a couple of days ago yourself! Great job. I love the picture of you and your lucky bf who gets all kinds of wonderful presents from you. Haha. Good luck, and I'm sure you will have great results this cycle!!

Thanks
Saturday, June 24 2006 at 08:00 PM

I know you are going to have a great cycle! Knock 'em dead!

Thanks and Good luck!
Monday, May 01 2006 at 08:00 PM

I'm nervous about Gtown, but I'm hoping I do get in. Good luck on your apps..it looks like you're almost done submitting them all!

oh hey there
Monday, July 10 2006 at 08:00 PM

Well, I'll "feel lucky" once I'm actually accepted somewhere good. Good luck to you as well.

I dunno
Friday, April 21 2006 at 08:00 PM

I really like Michigan. It seems like a great school that I'd be happy to attend. The only thing I don't like is the location!

No Stanford
Friday, April 21 2006 at 08:00 PM

because I don't want to go all the way to Cali, though I would have applied if I had a fee waiver!

hey
Friday, September 01 2006 at 08:00 PM

You are going to kill this cycle...wish me a lil luck too!!! MCB

quite
Friday, September 01 2006 at 08:00 PM

relieved! I just have to send out BC--like you, I'm not feeling the idea of writing another essay (I have to write a statement of purpose). Question about Vandy: Did you talk to any of the blk students there? What did they have to say about the school? 39/190 students of color is kinda bleh--but I like what i hear about Vandy and I would go there if Ididn't get into a t14.

Nova
Friday, April 21 2006 at 08:00 PM

The book was Nova's Master the LSAT. I highly recommend it. -Moni

Good luck
Tuesday, June 27 2006 at 08:00 PM

I'm sure that the most difficult part of your app. cycle will be deciding which school to attend.

WTF?!
Tuesday, April 04 2006 at 08:00 PM

The previous poster is obviously missing something in the head. You've got great stats and any school should be ecstatic to have you. Good luck with your cycle!

hmm
Friday, April 21 2006 at 08:00 PM

My first hate message. I would normally keep them, but nobody uses the n-word on my board. Goodbye!

On a cycle sweep. I mean, is there any question at all? Enjoy New Haven, and thanks a lot for all the LSAT prep tips you threw my way. Best of luck (not like you really need it though) :-D

Sunday, December 10 2006 at 07:00 PM

Hey! We read each other's personal statements way back when... I am glad to hear that your cycle is so successful!

great job
Thursday, January 04 2007 at 07:00 PM

hey i read on a page that you studied on and off for 5 months. What was your process for studying? I plan on taking it in Feb so it'll total to about 2 months of consistent studying. You think that's sufficient? Thanks. Feel free to share any advice. You got into my dream schools.

Yay, I get to be the first to say it...
Wednesday, August 30 2006 at 08:00 PM

CON-FREAKING-GRATS ON HARVARD!!!! CONGRATS!!! I mean, really, was there ever any doubt?!

Fee Waivers
Friday, April 21 2006 at 08:00 PM

Not sure why I didn't get them from Penn or GULC, because they were definitely giving them to people in my range. Not surprised about Chicago, as they seem to very selective about waivers. Then again, for most of them you had to mail in a cheque. Part of me wonders if somehow they sent a waiver that was lost through the intricacies of international mail.

Penn ASW
Sunday, December 10 2006 at 07:00 PM

Yes, I definitely want to make it out for the Penn ASW. I probably wont visit G-town, just because there's little change I would actually go there. Are you excited about hearing from Chicago and Columbia? Or are you for sure going to Harvard?

thanks
Friday, September 01 2006 at 08:00 PM

homie, means a lot. But still, keep your fingers crossed for Penn for me!!

darrow
Friday, September 01 2006 at 08:00 PM

Congrats on your Darrow homie. I'm so happy for you!! Come to the first ASW so we can def meet (bc I don't want to depend on Penn's just in case I don't get in).

congrats
Sunday, December 24 2006 at 07:00 PM

wow... you are the law school application master... congratulations to you!

Just stumbled in...
Wednesday, July 12 2006 at 08:00 PM

Yes, I am extrememly glad to have the option! Also, man you have very very impressive stats! Congrats on all the acceptances!!! In at Harvard AND tons of money at Michigan!!:) wow!

weather
Tuesday, May 09 2006 at 08:00 PM

yes, i think the weather will affect my decision, unless the scholarship $$$ makes it worth freezing my tail off for 3 yrs. congrats on your cycle and your amazing sense of fashion :)

Congrats!
Friday, December 22 2006 at 07:00 PM

Congrats on all your fantastic acceptances so far! I have to ask though...why was your NYU app so late (and send AFTER your acceptance to HLS)? :P

Congratulations
Tuesday, June 27 2006 at 08:00 PM

Congratulations on your acceptances ! And yay, another international student :)

Congrats
Tuesday, August 15 2006 at 08:00 PM

Hello Monili, CongratS and thanks for the advice five months ago.....

I'm calling it...
Wednesday, August 30 2006 at 08:00 PM

You're in at Yale 2/22/07. I'm calling it now.

WOW
Tuesday, January 02 2007 at 07:00 PM

I feel a sweep coming. I was wondering y u are leaning towards CLS over HLS? I love CLS and I will probably go there, but its hard to turn down Harvard. Is it the city?

Yale
Friday, August 18 2006 at 08:00 PM

Aw Moni, I'm sorry Yale ruined your clean sweep - they don't know what they're losing! Congrats on an amazing cycle and good luck deciding- you deserve all your success! :-)

At this point
Friday, August 18 2006 at 08:00 PM

probably Chicago - but things would change a lot if something miraculous happens with H or Y. How about you?

I'd like that order...
Thursday, February 23 2006 at 07:00 PM

...with drawl please; if you give it to me without drawl I'll be sorely disappointed. :)

Friday, April 28 2006 at 08:00 PM

I don't think I ever said an official congrats on choosing Michigan, so: CONGRATULATIONS!!!!! I think it's the right call, although I'm so jealous of all you guys!

Have fun in Ann Arbor
Sunday, December 10 2006 at 07:00 PM

Moni: Thanks for the kind words. I am sure you will have a ridiculous time. It was such a hard decision, which is why I was thrilled to find out a buddy of mine from UG will be going there next fall too. Now I will have to come visit, especially for the ND Michigan game! BTW, I'm typing this on a study-break from all of the CFA studying...less than three weeks and it will all be over! Best of luck and talk to you later,

hey
Friday, June 02 2006 at 08:00 PM

You really had an awesome cycle! Good luck at Michigan!
