Additional info & updates

I'm disappointed with the quality of my personal, diversity and other statements. They seemed alright at the time that I submitted them, but seem bland, uninspired and poorly written now that I have some distance from the writing process and am looking at them afresh.

Feb 22nd: Well, one or two people whose opinions I respect have read these statements and say that they're not so bad, after all.

Apr. 26: Relieved. My cycle is over.

i get the first post here! i have devirginized your LSN page! *devilface* in any case, any of these schools would be flat stupid to reject you. and furthermore, i know EXACTLY how you feel about personal statements, et al. however, having read them and having seen others (and my own paltry pieces) i can say that they're downright awesome. especially the PS. good fucking god was that good. now lets just hope that they understand that getting a 4.0 from a euro school is damn well impossible, if they realize that you should have a good shot at everywhere.

Spare us....

You write very very well and I am sure your statements, personal and other, are first rate. Send me postcards from New Haven! I am curious why not Stanford? Do you want to practice in WA?

oy, red, you're finally on LSN! and not to worry, all the BEST writers think their work is crap. otherwise, what would be the point in trying to do better? but more to the point, i only read the diversity statement in full, but i enjoyed it immensely--so that that fwiw.

De-flowered!

Yay! Comments already! Who better to devirginize me than the Kaiser himself? Thanks for the encouragement, all. Pass36: Stanford isn\\\'t strong in what I want to practice (lovely campus, though) z39dot50: no not in Alaska.. in WA magnumalv: thanks, your opinion means a lot.

Hey, your GPA keeps rising up and rising down -- what's up with that?

HELP!!
Thursday, December 29 2005 at 07:00 PM

Help out a fellow PNWesterner via the UK!! For a fat old man who wants to stay in the PNW, is a full ride at Lewis and Clark better than spending $150K at NYU??? BTW, I am a little disappointed my Vollman reference above did not get a sarcastic response out of you!! :-)

Red: We all know you're going to go to Yale (if thats what you want). Good luck! If i were you, I'd skip law school for a career on the big screen though ;0)

You should have your pick of schools...

I'm going to be volunteering in africa from june -beginning of LS but i haven't decided where exactly i want to go. it's between kenya, tanzania, south africa, and ghana... i just can't decided. sorry that was a tangent! haha =)

Just Columbia so far? What the hell is taking Yale so long? I think I shall tell Yale I will never ever attend that school unless they admit you immediately! ;-)

Hey Red, Yup, my profile is quite a read. Feel free to drop by whenever you get bored -- it's a great source of comic relief. I had an AMAZING time at Yale, but I'm still going to give myself some time to think it all over before I make a final decision. I'd love it if we ended up at the same place. If we do, we should grab a cup of coffee (my treat).

NYU
Thursday, December 22 2005 at 07:00 PM

woo freakin' hoo for the NYC love!

tick, tock...
Tuesday, December 27 2005 at 07:00 PM

It's only a matter of time.

Your best acceptance yet
Tuesday, December 27 2005 at 07:00 PM

See, things are working out fine. If Cornell says no, its just their yield protection way of complementing you.

Congrats on Chicago! You're racking 'em up, just like I knew you would. :o)

Go PNW!!
Thursday, December 29 2005 at 07:00 PM

Congrats on all the cash and acceptances. YLS is just a matter of time. I know you will do great wherever you decide to go!!

HLS vs. NYU
Thursday, December 29 2005 at 07:00 PM

I actually think that NYU is better in a lot of areas than HLS - I would go to NYU if I could afford an apartment instead of a dorm without living in Brooklyn .... or if some nice young person with a full ride needed a cabana boy???

Congrats
Monday, September 19 2005 at 08:00 PM

Congrats on YALE!!!

Congratulations on YLS!
