Not a whole lot, actually.
I think my letters of rec are really good, and my personal statement is also respectable.

Additional info & updates

I've had to work on-and-off during college, at the worst time it was 6 classes and 40hr/week. Probably affected my GPA, LSAT. Basically put myself through with merit scholarships and work. I'm a grad student now, but it's not for me, so I'm doing law school instead! Here's hoping....

Oh yeah, all my apps are fee waivers.

12/22- My Michigan app just went to decision. Eee! Unfortunately, I'll be out of town for the next week, so I won't know what the decision is until I get back.

12/30- I just found the big envelope in my mailbox! I'm so freaking psyched, I don't know what to do with myself. I'm telling everyone I know! Yeah, I know my numbers aren't the best, and some of you out there might think I don't deserve this... For you, I'm going to also say that there was a note on the letter from Ms. Zearfoss, praising my writing ability. I knew before I sent my apps that my personal statement would be the only thing that would give me a shot, so I've been working on it for the past YEAR. To boot, it details a time in my academic career during which financial hardship nearly made it impossible for me to finish my undergrad. I'm just feeling so positive, and I want to share it. Good luck to everyone else out there!

01/04- I was wondering about my Northwestern app, so I called, because I questioned the accuracy of the status-checker. Someone there let me know that my app is copmlete. Yay.

01/11- Called Penn and Washington, both schools made clerical errors, but now both files are complete.

01/12- Complete at SCU. Now I just have to wait for those decision to roll in. I'm climbing the walls.

01/16- In at Emory! Woo!

01/17- In at Vandy and WashU! 4 for 4...

02/26- So NW deferred me, and I'm not all that interested in pursuing it. Today I found out that Santa Clara accepted me, and awarded me my very first scholarship offer! Nevertheless, I think I'll hold out for the other decisions.

03/01- Wowie zowie! I just got word from Washington University that I have recieved one of their most prestigious scholarships, $78,000 over 3 years. The plot thickens.... and making the decision gets a lot harder.

03/07- The field is beginning to clear up a bit. Another merit offer from Vanderbilt, waitlist at Duke. I'm withdrawing from Duke and Emory, as they aren't really viable compared to my other options. Looks like I'm down to Vandy, WashU, Michigan, and UPenn.

03/15- So I'm going to Michigan next week! I'm super psyched, and hoping the visit will make my decision easier. I'm also hoping that I receive their full fin aid package soon. I got Washington U's package a couple days ago, so I'm waiting on Michigan, and Vandy. Once I've got all of the information, I expect it won't take me long to commit. I'm holding out hope for Penn, but really I just think they're going to reject me. Oh well... I'm kind of scared of crime in Philly anyways :P

03/21- So, I called Penn today... it's been 10 weeks since I went complete, and no word:P I'm taking a flight to Michigan today for the ASW, and I'm totally psyched. I'm never been to Michigan before, or the midwest, for that matter. Yay!

03/27- Ann Arbor was absolutely beautiful. The law school is completely in Gothic Tudor, the faculty and administrators were so informative and helpful, and I really got a good feeling from the students. The city of A2 is packed with bars, restaurants, and cool stuff. I'm definitely leaning toward Michigan, even though I haven't received their finaid offer yet. Here's hoping it's as nice as Ann Arbor!

03/30- So, no finaid offer yet : P I'm withdrawing from Washington U, so good luck to the rest of you wanting to get in there. I've agonized over Washington,, but, in the end, this is the decision I've made.

04/07- Ugh... the offer from Vandy is soooo tempting. I'm still not even sure of my decision. I'm withdrawing my application. Hopefully one of you gets that $ instead... if I don't hear from Penn in two weeks, I'm accepting Michigan's offer, blind of financial aid information. Giving up all that $ gives me a sinking feeling in my stomach, but some things are more important than $, right? :P

04/17- Yes! I finally recieved Michigan's offer, and it's everything I hoped it would be! Still no word from Penn....

04/18- Finally a response from Penn! Waitlisted. So, I withdrew my application. Michigan, here I come! And thus ends the saga of my law school applications... Hope you all had fun :D

on your Michigan acceptance! I'm a 1L there who also got in with less-than-stellar numbers, so don't let anyone tell you that you don't deserve it. Anyway, I wouldn't trade Michigan for any other school. Guess we'll be seeing you in the fall?

UMGurl-perhaps whatever law schools that rejected you sensed your stank attitude, lack of graciousness and immaturity. You can't fake character. Good luck anyway!

Congrats, your numbers give me hope! :) And people who are jealous that they can't get in need to just accept the fact that your soft factors are way more important than any URM box. GJ on all the other acceptances too! :)

Uh...

Ok, so I expected to get some negative attention from some anti-Affirmative Action crusaders. And you all are entitled to your opinions, however simplistic and reductionist they may be. But I'm not the one you need to tell... tell your Congressman, Senator, Governor, or favorite Supreme Court Justice; I really don't need to hear about it. Better yet, go complain to the admissions committees. I mean, why would you even want to attend a school that you believe to be one that discriminates against people like you? Since both of you are lurking in the shadows of anonymity, I'm going to disable responses from unregistered members. You know why? Because you're ashamed to own up to your comments in this community. My guess is that you actually are registered members who do not want to be identified, especially considering that you might risk identification by an adcomm. To the rest of you: good luck and thanks for the support!

Congrats!

Congrats on all!! Numbers don't mean a thing. Perseverance and strength mean a lot more, which I recognize (as do the attorneys I work for) at my Big Law job, and to which anyone who had to work while in college can testify.

congrats!

wow - great acceptances there! mich rules! and i know how hard it can be putting yourself through school and overloading on classes...my college experience was different as well. and to be a honest - i'm not the biggest fan of aa, but that is not always the reason for acceptances (as everyone knows) - it looks like you deserved them. congrats!

Awww, I'm going to the first one. Too bad. But, if you shoot a msg to their BLSA, they will put you in contact with a blk alumni org. They reimburse your visit up to $310. I'm definitely going to send in my receipts. You should email them if you are strapped for cash!

Good job
