I just read the confession of a former dean of admissions who said that it was common for her to check out forums and online discussion groups concerning law school admissions....thats a little freaky, who knew they had time to waste? maybe i should fudge my info....

i love michigan! and i love online status checkers!
i love going complete!

12/13/06
just checked status checker at michigan - Early decision - no decision...guess i'll have to wait...

12/21/06
received rejection from penn - dated 12/15/06
also received michigan deferral letter, with handwritten signature and underlined words expressing appreciation for interest in school

12/26/06
received deferral letter from cornell.
guess its gonna be a long wait...time to get those other apps out..

1/2/07
apps for GW, Columbia and Fordham should be finished up by tomorrow...thinking of BU as well...

1/8/07
GW and BU are out. will be sending in additional essay to cornell soon, and will try to visit mich...

1/18/07
letter of interest sent out to cornell...should i have included a handwritten signature?
have written an additional essay for columbia which will hopefully be sent out soon, as soon as i decide whether or not to include a cover letter...maybe i'll just drop it off myself soon, i'm in the neighborhood

oh yeah, BU is making life difficult with their LSAC policy of only sending in 2 recs...but the admissions office people are really nice and helpful, and quick to call back. I think i'm gonna go visit...

sigh...still no news, better than bad news i guess...

2/5/07
not even a complete notice from BU!!!!!

2/13/07
email from Dean Richard at GW - accepted!!!!!!
i feel better now

called BU - said file was complete the 9th
called Cornell - received my letter of continued interest and said review of deferred apps should begin soon...

2/14/07
received BU complete notice in mail

2/15/07
small envelope - columbia rejection. sigh.
also received packet from GW with personal note from dean. softens the blow.

2/21/07
visiting UMich tomorrow! very excited!

3/2/07
was away for a week - came back to more stuff from GW including cool GW Law flash drive...and woke up this morning to an email from Dean Zearfoss indicating my new waitlist status. whoopee. mich was great - really liked the ppl i met, and everyone seems to really like being there. will be writing a letter about my visit and send it in along with my waitlist interest form. sigh.

still haven't finished my letter of continued interest for UMich - will fax in waitlist form tomorrow.

3/15/07
just checked fordham's status checker, found i've been waitlisted. oh well - i'm thinking GW over fordham in any case

3/22/07
got Fordham's WL letter in the mail - will be staying on. You never know what will happen. and finished my LOCI for Mich, but have to decide whether to email or send...also need someone to proofread....

3/24/07
more stuff from GW!

3/30/07
I'm away for 2 weeks - talk about stress! i'm just worried that if I get put on a waitlist, i'm screwed cuz i cant send in the form...

4/12/07
just came home from a 2 week no think about law school to a rejection from cornell dated the day before i left and NOTHING else. my G-d, what is up with all these schools?!

4/14/07
rejection from UCLA dated the 6th. sigh.

4/17/07
have decided to send in deposit to GW - will be attending barring a sudden acceptance with $$ from BU or Michigan admit off the WL.... hoping for the latter

5/04/07
OH MY G-D!!!!!!!!!!!!!
admitted off MICHIGAN's waitlist!!!!!!!!!!
AHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!

got the phone call at 3:30 from someone at the admissions office - YAY!!!!!

and its for fall start. Thank you mich, i love you!!!!

good luck to you as well

Lots of splitters on LSN indeed -- good luck with each of the schools you're applying to. UMich lately has seemed to be very splitter friendly in particular.

umich

Do you have any idea what the average gpa/lsat is for early decision(And if its different from regular) I think i'm a comparable applicant to you numbers wise...

other schools
Wednesday, November 15 2006 at 07:00 PM

i think you're right-- i'm in the process of adding some more competitive schools over the next week--just not sure which ones. goodluck to you too. hope we both hear good news from mich.

ed notifications
Wednesday, November 15 2006 at 07:00 PM

it seems that some ed mich people are already being notified, as are a growing number of rd people. i'm curious to see what happens over the next week or so.

coalexisdc cannot follow directions.

most definitely - good luck. i absolutely love UMich's admissions office, and the current students and alumni ive been in touch with seem really grounded. i cant wait!

monitoring
Wednesday, November 15 2006 at 07:00 PM

haha honestly i doubt they monitor logins, but i am getting a little worried aobut not hearing as well. i think that a lot of decisions will be made over the next week, especially for early. i opted for both summer/fall starts, went complete on the 14th of november and haven't heard...

re: cornell
Monday, November 13 2006 at 07:00 PM

hey, thanks! i got the snail mail and the email both on 12/8--the email came at 4:30pm, and i had checked my mail before that. good luck, i'm sure you'll hear soon!

michigan?
Sunday, December 11 2005 at 07:00 PM

did you write the why michigan thing? other profiles indicate that might really help!

good luck
Sunday, January 07 2007 at 07:00 PM

similar numbers.. ill be watching to see how you do. good luck!

GCoop - Mich
Saturday, October 21 2006 at 08:00 PM

nope, haven't gone to decision...you think its too late to send in more stuff? i wanted to send in extra materials, but i already wrote 2 additional essays and included 3 recs in my initial app...maybe i should fly out there soon

gpa addendum
Thursday, October 12 2006 at 08:00 PM

No, I didn't write a separate GPA addendum; however, I did address my gpa in a paragraph of my personal statement b/c it fit in with what i wrote my ps about. I have a great trend, so I'm sure that's what has been helping them oversee the number so far. Good luck with all of your apps!

good luck
Monday, May 01 2006 at 08:00 PM

i think we'll be sitting on lots of deferrals/wait lists for a long time. nerve-racking to see everybody else getting decisions and we're just stuck. hopefully something pans out :)

not this year
Monday, May 01 2006 at 08:00 PM

maybe in the future. I don't there's a point to moving and taking debt unless I get into one of the schools I applied. in any case, you've got a few deferrals yourself... at least they aren't straight rejects. gah it sucks watching everybody get accepted and having nothing.

re: Cornell interview
Tuesday, September 26 2006 at 08:00 PM

I was a bit surprised by Cornell's request for an interview, and the letter itself gives few clues as to the reasoning behind it. I'm excited for the face-toface opportunity and to see what CLS has to offer. I'm not so sure about traveling up to Ithaca at this time of year, though...

mac
congrats!
Thursday, August 24 2006 at 08:00 PM

Congrats on GW! And don't let the deferrals get you down. Good luck with Michigan!

First Choice?
Thursday, August 24 2006 at 08:00 PM

I really would like to go to Penn, but I'm trying to keep as open a mind as possible. Really, I know I will be happy at any of the schools I've applied to.

UMich- Letter of Cont'd Interest
Wednesday, July 12 2006 at 08:00 PM

I did send UMich a letter of continued interest- but not right away. It was delayed to such an extent that it may have even crossed paths in the mail with my acceptance.

Michigan
Thursday, August 24 2006 at 08:00 PM

How was your trip to Michigan? Would you email about your visit? I have a couple questions that I would to discuss with you. Thanks!

re: wow
Monday, December 11 2006 at 07:00 PM

Penn was by far my lowest choice. I hated the campus and felt like Philadelphia would just an awful pace to live (this coming from someone who lived in New Haven for four years). Columbia on the other hand made the decision very difficult. It was a joint decision for me and my girlfriend and we felt the most at home at Cornell.

congrats on GW!
Monday, May 01 2006 at 08:00 PM

I've yet to have any luck on anything I applied to.

Loved it!
Thursday, August 24 2006 at 08:00 PM

I loved Michigan. I actually spent most of my time out on the town with grad students (psych, comm, chemistry, business, lawyers) and just got a good vibe from everyone. It was interesting to see the mix of people, on top of the many positive things I already knew about the school. BTW, Fordham = loco. I'm going to the GW ASW in a couple weeks, so I'll let you know how that goes (I recall you are not attending, let me know if that has changed.

Hey
Friday, February 02 2007 at 07:00 PM

Howdy neighbor. Great numbers, I can't believe you got WLed at Fordham... probably isn't a good sign for me (I'm still waiting for a response). At this point I'll probably take the free ride at St. John's.

Hey!
Thursday, August 24 2006 at 08:00 PM

I hope to see you in the fall as well... whether at GW or elsewhere!

congratulations!
Wednesday, October 04 2006 at 08:00 PM

congratulations!

hope to see you there?
Monday, October 30 2006 at 07:00 PM

ask and you shall receive; congratulations, hope to see you here!

thanks!
Saturday, October 21 2006 at 08:00 PM

I only sent in a LOCI as additional info. I went to visit before i was waitlisted, and tried to focus on specific things that make umich unique in all my essays and referred to them (and how i will contribute) consistently throughout my app. to be honest though, i have no clue why they took me off. aside from a weak GPA, i also had other negative issues to address, and am really convinced now that Michigan really does consider the whole applicant in their admissions process. i hope things work out for you too!

congrats on mich!
Monday, May 01 2006 at 08:00 PM

there goes that ship for me.

congrats on Mich
Friday, October 06 2006 at 08:00 PM

according to this and LSD you're one of the first off the WL at ann arbor. congrats! hope you're celebrating accordingly.

Congratulations . . .
Sunday, January 21 2007 at 07:00 PM

. . . on your UMich acceptance! You give hope to all us fellow waitlisters. Will you be starting in the summer or the fall?

Holy Schnikeys!!!
Thursday, August 24 2006 at 08:00 PM

Congrats again and again! I'm pysched to see you going there. Mayhaps I will see you there. Either way, best of luck!

Thanks!
Thursday, August 24 2006 at 08:00 PM

Yeah, I'm a lot happier now that I know I'm attending GW. It just feels right. Good luck this fall!

thanks!!!
Monday, May 01 2006 at 08:00 PM

relieved. made it. going to law school? yes. going to gulc? probably, pending 3 or my infinite remaining WLs.

err
Monday, May 01 2006 at 08:00 PM

3 OF the inifinite remaining WLs.

I've waited this long...
Monday, May 01 2006 at 08:00 PM

To leave the Mich or Penn WLs now would just be self-defeating ;)

ah well
Monday, May 01 2006 at 08:00 PM

can't win 'em all. and I'm still trying, dammit!

let me know
Monday, May 01 2006 at 08:00 PM
