Extra Curricular Information

To 2009-2010 applicants: If you have any questions or would like to know more about what I had in my application, feel free to message me!

Scholarships listed are for all three years.
All applications were sent regular decision, for full-time programs.
There've been quite a few pleasant surprises, but I still kinda wish I'd studied for the LSAT better!

Additional info & updates

1/20/09 - First acceptance at UM today!

2/3/09 - Accepted to Penn State via email.

2/6/09 - Accepted to UK and UCincy via email.

2/9/09 - Acceptance from Hofstra, with a nice hand-written note and a $22,500/year scholarship. Also received an acceptance package from Stetson.

2/12/09 - First rejection from UGA. Via status checker, of all the ways. That was cold.

2/13/09 - Acceptance package from Lewis & Clark.

2/19/09 - Waitlist email from Dean Pless.

2/23/09 - Received a Provost's Fellowship from UK, which would give me in-state tuition--sweet!

2/24/09 - Waitlisted at Temple. However, Cincinnati offered me a $5K/year scholarship, along with a hand-written note from the assistant dean! That, coupled with the ease of obtaining Ohio residency, is making UCincy pretty attractive right now.

3/11/09 - I'm in the middle of Spring Break right now, so it's been a while since I've checked my mailbox. Acceptances from Pitt (with a nice handwritten note), Georgia State, and South Carolina. And I was waitlisted at Washington & Lee.

3/18/09 - I received a FedEx overnight notification today... turns out I received a full-tuition scholarship from Stetson, valued at around $93,000.

3/23/09 - $14,000/year scholarship from Pitt Law today! Ridiculously happy about this because I really liked Pittsburgh when I visited.

3/24/09 - WL at Wake. No surprise there.

3/25/09 - Acceptance from Case via email, with another email several hours later notifying me about a $9,000/year scholarship... hmmm. I loved Case, but even with this scholly, tuition is still going to be ridiculously expensive, so I'm a little hesitant. =/

3/26/09 - Waitlisted at UF and dinged at Emory.

3/27/09 - In at SMU via phone call... wow, I was pretty sure this was going to be a ding!

3/31/09 - In at Northeastern and Ohio State, both via phone call! I got the Northeastern letter in the mail later on and there was no scholarship. Love the school, but the sticker price is just too expensive... Sadness. The OSU acceptance definitely caught me by surprise, though.

4/6/09 - BC rejection... of course. Withdrew from Northeastern... kinda sad because this was one of the first schools I chose to apply to. But without a scholarship, it's just not worth it. =(

4/18/09 - Denied from Baylor's fall term, but accepted for spring... not sure what to consider this, so I'm just going to classify it as an acceptance. At this point, it doesn't really matter anymore. Oh, and I'm FINALLY under review at Tulane, over three months after my application has been complete.

4/20/09 - Accepted at IUB, with a $9,000 scholly and a really nice handwritten memo from Dean Motley. Wow, that one came out of nowhere! Given that OOS tuition is sky-high and it is very difficult to gain in-state residency, I'm probably going to have to withdraw. =/ I was also just accepted to Tulane via email! But unless there is a sweet scholarship involved, I'll probably withdraw soon.

4/27/09 - WL at UNC... going to stick this one out.

5/10/09 - I've sent my deposit to Pitt, but am still torn between them and OSU. I feel like no matter which I choose, I'm going to have some kind of regret. I'm also going to wait it out on the UNC, UIUC, and W&L waitlists.

5/15/09 - OSU it is. Now the hard part is going to be notifying Pitt about my change in plans... they've been so generous and congenial to me these past couple months.

5/16/09 - 4 months for a waitlist? I am not amused, FSU. Oh well, you don't matter anymore. Annnd, that brings my cycle to a close. 17-4-7... much better than I'd originally thought!

6/2/09 - Wrote my letter of withdrawal to Pitt today. It was so hard to do. =(

Hey, we've applied to a lot of the same schools and have near-identical stats. Good luck on your cycle!

Sunday, March 09 2008 at 08:00 PM

Thanks! Do you have a #1 choice?

Wednesday, January 07 2009 at 07:00 PM

Hi ~ I am a current 1L at Villanova Law. I applied to a lot of the schools that you have. I almost went to Case Western actually. Good Luck with everything!! :)

Hey, we have very similar numbers and schools... good luck!

Cold, real cold... How long was your file under review? In other words, how long until I receive my rejection?

Sunday, March 09 2008 at 08:00 PM

I made that comment above...I'll have to be logged in next time lol.

Sunday, March 09 2008 at 08:00 PM

Wouldn't surprise me lol. When are you visiting? I wonder if we're going on the same day...I'll be there March 11th.

Sunday, February 15 2009 at 07:00 PM

Thanks for the note. Congratulations on your acceptance with $ at UK. Also, I am a student at College of Charleston.

Sunday, March 09 2008 at 08:00 PM

What did you think of Cincinnati? I thought the law school building was old, but the rest of the campus was beautiful. Pretty impressive.

Sunday, March 09 2008 at 08:00 PM

Yeah, everyone at Cincy was really nice. Apparently most of the students live in Hyde Park, which is the "hip" part of the city for the younger crowd (i.e. us). Right now, I'm leaning towards UIUC because I had a great visit and the scholarship really helps. Wisconsin is still #1 though, if they pull me off the WL. Case seems like a nice school and I'd definitely have to go visit if they accept me. I'm also still waiting for Pitt, which is one of my favorite cities in the country, so an acceptance there would throw a curve ball into everything. Where are you leaning towards?

good luck from a fellow urm..Congrats on all acceptances! Whats your number one?

Sunday, March 09 2008 at 08:00 PM

That's crazy about Pitt! I'm afraid that if I get in there won't be any money left (take me off hold!), but I think that if I got money like that I'd go. Anyways, they said I'd find out by April 1st, so only a couple weeks left to go! But until then (and probably after), I think I'm going to be an Illini.

Im so sad.. you just spoke about Northeastern and I just officially withdrew.. on the upside.. maybe this will help you get in by providing a space.. It is a great school and i wish you much luck. If I dont get off the waitlist at any of my reaches ( Cornell, fordham, Duke, and Northwestern) I may be headed to D.C.. American! Keep me posted on your progress.

Third wait list in a week! Booo.. my fingers are still crossed for you!... although, you have great schools to choose from in any case!

FSU

Still "complete" since 1/16... Who knows what's going on down there... Either way, they're not as bad as Catholic where it took almost two months for me to go complete (after an e-mail and two phone calls).

Sunday, March 09 2008 at 08:00 PM

Congrats on the Pitt scholly!!! If I got a scholarship like that from them I'd be shitting my pants. I hope they get back to me from my "hold" soon!

Thursday, January 08 2009 at 07:00 PM

Congrats on the Pitt $$! I have to admit i'm a little jealous...

Thursday, December 18 2008 at 07:00 PM

It doesn't look like I can acccess your profile so I'll answer here... I got into their FT program. A little surprising, but I'm happy about it. =)

Thursday, December 18 2008 at 07:00 PM

Yes, it did. But the day before yesterday, it was still at "Application Complete" since mid-January. So I wouldn't get too nervous about it. Good luck!

Thursday, January 08 2009 at 07:00 PM

It's either gonna be Rutgers, Mason, or sit it out and retake the LSAT....unfortunately i only have a few days to decide at this point!

Sunday, March 09 2008 at 08:00 PM

In at Pitt! I guess the next step for me is to see if they have any scholarship money left to dole out...

Sunday, March 09 2008 at 08:00 PM

Thanks! You and Pitt will be just fine as well :)

Thursday, December 18 2008 at 07:00 PM

Both--Baylor asked me to reactivate my profile for the spring and they said that once I did that, I would receive an acceptance letter within the next few days. Hope that helps!

Sunday, March 09 2008 at 08:00 PM

Congrats on OSU! I doubt you'll regret your choice, it's a great school. If you're still on the WL at Illinois, you might get my spot...I'm pretty sure I'm going to defer for a year at Wisconsin to get in-state tuition, then be part of the Class of 2013. Good luck!

Sunday, March 09 2008 at 08:00 PM

Yeah, I'll probably try to find a law-related job once I get to Madison. What I really want to do, though, is volunteer for Americorps for a year...I figure that since the federal government has given so much to my education (state schools and all), that it's time for me to give back.

How are you liking Moritz? We have similar numbers and I would LOVE to go to OSU or other Ohio schools. Any advice on them, which ones you liked best? Thanks!

OSU!!
Thursday, August 13 2009 at 08:00 PM

Hey, thanks for all of your help earlier this year!! I received the email yesterday that I was admitted to Moritz!! I'm so excited!! I'm still waiting to hear back from a few schools, but OSU is at the top of my list!! : )
