Additional info & updates

12-7-06, Nice email from Dean of Admissions at Vermont saying I was accepted, packet came in mail a few days later...really excited to know before Christmas that I am in somewhere...package sent home included financial aid info

01-12-07, Letter mailed before Christmas, just received it today from Quinnipiac, small white envelope, with scholarship info inside

01-12-07, Letter mailed before New Years, just received it today from Maine, small white envelope, no scholarship info

01-16-07, Kind of bummed, was deferred at Northeastern...more bummed because I think this pretty much means no chance at UConn than anything else, but we'll see

01-31-07, Called Vermont and informed them I was withdrawing today, just a better offer from Quinnipiac (plus I can live at home and save even more money)...still hoping for UConn but Quinnipiac looks pretty good right now

2-15-07, Really angry with UConn, first they send my letter to the wrong address, then it is unclear exactly what I have been waitlisted/rejected for...basically I was rejected for full time and waitlisted for part time, I called for some clarification, and i got nothing but attitude

3-23-07, Scholarship from Maine, not really sure if this is all they are offering me or if it is just one scholarship (the letter says this is part of my total financial aid package). If this is all they are giving me, I guess Maine will be scratched off my list.

4-05-07, Waitlisted at Northeastern, not totally surprised, but I probably wasn't going there unless I got some money anyways

4-16-07, Evidently before they received my withdrawal from the waitlist, Northeastern accepted me off of it, but with no financial aid, I'm sticking with Quinnipiac unless something ridiculous happens wih UConn (as in they not only accept me part time off the waitlist, but full time, which isn't going to happen)

Don't worry about it, I'm pretty sure they're not telling people for a while. Because of my stats mainly the Dean sent me a personal e-mail discussing portions of my application and asking me a couple follow-up questions so they can decide whether or not to offer me one of their major scholarships. He told me in that e-mail that I was accepted, but I'm guessing it's an informal informing me of that acceptance.

Where is VLS in your personal choice list, do you think? Although it is quite rural I think their programs look very good.

I don't know why NU deferred me. I have heard that they tend to accept students that have more experience after undergrad (I am in my last semester of undergrad right now) so that might have something to do with it. Hopefully I will still get in, and see where to go from there. I am still at Fairfield U in CT.

I don't think my undergrad is weak. Its certainly not Ivy League, but its ranked 3 or 4 every year for liberal arts schools.

QU and maine scholarships
Friday, December 01 2006 at 07:00 PM

how long did it take you to find out from quinnipiac and maine about scholarships? did they send a letter with an 'estimate' of sorts? how long after you got accepted did you hear about finaid? oh, and hi, from one fairfield county-ite to another :)

hating waiting the most...
Friday, December 01 2006 at 07:00 PM

Obviously, American being my first choice and being waitlisted there, if I get in off the WL I will drop everything/any deposit to go there. I wouldnt mind some financial aid bribery from either QU or Maine though... Maine likes me because I'm at a UMaine campus right now for undergrad. They told me my decision over the phone, which was really nice. I'm not really digging QU so much - to pay that much and be only 45 minutes from home in a program I dont particularly want... I dont know. We'll see. I just HATE waiting. Talk about stress, only furthered with deposit deadlines. Looks like your situation is almost sorted out though. Best of luck, and feel free to compare/ask questions.

If you don't want to go there why not withdraw?

...about Quinnipiac. Big package came today :) Thanks for the heads up

QU, eh?
Friday, December 01 2006 at 07:00 PM

I have to make the Maine vs. Quinnipiac decision tomorrow... as tomorrow is when they said their FinAid will be viewable online... Perhaps we will be classmates, good luck!
