Additional info & updates

All scholarships are PER YEAR.

This is a stressful process for sure! Good luck to everyone, and let me know if you have any questions. I figured it was time to stop freeloading off this site, so here I am.

By the way, I applied in early October to most places with the exception of the 2nd tier NY schools and Fordham, which I applied to in mid-November.

Well, 2 wins (one bigtime), 2 losses, and no ties. Virginia came by email, that was a classy touch.

Michigan State offer: Dean's Scholar program. Maintain title if I maintain 3.5 and complete requirements, including a publication. Maintain full scholarship if I maintain 3.0.

12/15
A letter from Cornell. Expecting a rejection, I got a nice letter letting me know that they will review my application again in the regular cycle. Great!

12/17
Wow! A nice letter from Georgetown saying that they will re-review my application in January! Cheers to that =)

plus, a nice Christmas card from Santa Clara law.

12/18
Boston College just sent a similar letter...I'm being held for review in January and February. Hey, 3 non-rejections...more stress, but I'm happy =)

CURRENT COUNT
2-2-3

They really should do away with ties and do a shootout or something.

-Sorry for the hockey reference...had to get one in there.

12/19

Accepted by USF via email!
Emery Scholarship offered by Santa Clara. Renewable if in the top quarter of the class.

12/20
USF Acceptance and Dean's Scholarship by mail. $26,000/year, renewable with a 3.2 GPA.

12/26
Woohoo...hopped out of the house to get the mail...and low and behold...

Accepted at Davis, Waitlisted at UCLA! Didn't expect to hear back from Davis so quickly!

1/05
In at Temple via Status Checker!

1/08
Letter from Temple. Nice red folder, scholarship info. I will be planning a trip around the country to visit schools soon, before I head off to Asia to teach and travel! This will be a great year!

1/12
Dinged at Michigan. Too bad, I hear great things about Ann Arbor! But more to come =)

1/15
Well, just wanted to say another good luck to everyone, and I hope you all get accepted to an awesome place for law school. As it stands for me, I plan to visit every place I get into and try to get a feel for everything. However, out of all my acceptances, I really like Davis. Close to my family, a laid back town with cool restaurants and bars (all 3 of them haha), and of course a great law school with nice students. But then again, liking adventure, I will definitely be anxiously awaiting some schools around the nation (DC looks pretty great rig20and there should be places).
I am looking forward to hearing back from all of the others, and there should be several more in the mail soon!

OK, enough rambling on this addicting website. Take care everyone.

1/16
Dinged at Chicago. Hmm...if only I got 10 more points on that funny test.

1/20
In at American! Out at Penn.

Getting excited about my trip around the country! Got a nice call this morning from a Mich. State professor to talk about the King's Scholarship. Now I get to visit DC as well!

Does anyone currently go or know anyone who has done the Mich State Kings Scholar program? Any comment on that or any other schools, such as American versus Davis?

As more schools come in this will become even more difficult to decide, but lets hope they do!

1/21
In at Hastings! Small envelope...

1/22
In at UIUC! Email. Wow this is getting tougher.

1/26
25K from UIUC! 32K from Syracuse with Tshirt!
Awesome! I think UIUC just too the lead... Time to celebrate =)

1/29
WL at Vandy and GW. Hmm, kind of expected that. I will go visit the schools, but Illinois seems like the best opportunity at the moment.

2/17
Well, in the time I've been gone I got into Cardozo with 18K, Emory, and Brooklyn, and Case Western. I also got Rejected from Duke. Hmm...other things have been on my mind lately, so the law school thoughts will have to be put off for a few weeks. I hope all of you cycles are going great!

3/1
All of my fee waiver schools have been getting back to me. Cycle is almost done, and I've narrowed my list to about 5 schools. Just completed a southern trip to Emory and Vandy (Unless Alabama offers money that is out). I will head to the midwest and NE soon to visit UIUC, Northwestern, the NY schools, BU, and the DC schools. Hopefully I will be very close to a decision once I get back, because I want to head to Asia!

And then if I get off of a waitlist...hmmm.

And c'mon Irvine!

Thank you timmy, and WOW congrats on the great offer from Michigan. Going to hold out for Cornell?

Wednesday, December 05 2007 at 07:00 PM

Thanks! I heard via email. I think letters only came today for people around BC, so you'd probably get it tomorrow.

Tuesday, November 25 2008 at 07:00 PM

Thanks timmy! Sweet offer from Michigan State, it looks like you'll have some difficult choices too. Good luck with the rest of your cycle!

thats a lot of gummi bears...
Sunday, November 30 2008 at 07:00 PM

Thanks! Congrats on SCU and Mich -with all that $$$ (2,526,041 gummi bears worth)! They clearly think being a nice guy counts for something.

Wednesday, November 26 2008 at 07:00 PM

congrats on your acceptances... and i'm def rooting for you for all the schools you're getting re-reviewed at! maybe we might even be classmates (cross your fingers that we get into at least one of our top choices!) thanks for the message and good luck to you!

Monday, December 01 2008 at 07:00 PM

hey, thanks for your comment! i'm very excited to go to a school that looks past "cold" numbers--i agree with you! i feel like i've been treated like a person in this process and not just a score+gpa combo. great good luck on ED!!!

Northeastern
Friday, November 23 2007 at 07:00 PM

$25,000 is the total amount for all three years. Based on the information on Northeastern's website, it is the largest amount of a Dean's Scholarship. It is conditional on remaining in good academic standing.

Congrats on your cycle too!
Thursday, November 20 2008 at 07:00 PM

Thanks! Yeah, it was such a rush when I got my first acceptance. I've tried to stay positive and upbeat no matter what happens and to not take any acceptance for granted! And congrats on American! I really want to be in DC next year, so I'm still keeping my fingers crossed for GW and Georgetown! Scholarships would be nice but I'd definitely pay full price for these places. :) (much to the chagrin of the parentals...) Also, I'm currently doing a Master's program in public health, so it's health law for me :) What about you? BTW, it's pretty awesome that you're doing all this teaching abroad. Take care, - Ally

thanks!
Tuesday, December 16 2008 at 07:00 PM

and congrats on hastings to you as well. where does it fall in your long list of acceptances (ie versus davis and the east coast)? im 75% sure ill end up there this fall, unless another school decides to surprise me. but im orginally from northern california and want to end up here, so its perfect. congratulations again and hope the good luck keeps up!

i appreciate your comments
Tuesday, December 16 2008 at 07:00 PM

i need all the advice i can get! good luck to you as those last few schools get their acts together and finally admit you. if by a miracle i get into ucla or bu, ill definitely see you there. if not, hopefully we will meet at hastings in the fall!

oh and in answer to your questions
Tuesday, December 16 2008 at 07:00 PM

i think i want to practice IP law(copyright/trademarks); im currently working in patent litigation. and i was all set to attend the santa clara thing next week until hastings showed up. but i will probably attend anyway just to get a better idea of this whole law school thing...perhaps ill see you there!

WOW!
Tuesday, July 22 2008 at 08:00 PM

GREAT money from UIUC! Where did that COME from!? Congrats man! I'll be visiting Hastings in two weeks!

Visiting..
Tuesday, July 22 2008 at 08:00 PM

Hopefully these visits will narrow it down a bit for us... Really though it will be tough to make a decision until those financial aid packages roll in... What did you think of Vanderbilt?

Emory...
Thursday, November 20 2008 at 07:00 PM

is the big frontrunner right now, especially with the money! I just got back from a trip to BU, but it didn't really have that "wow" factor. i'm heading to Atlanta this weekend, hoping to seal the deal. the waitlist just complicates matters.... what about you? any big decision yet? what were your thoughts and impressions about Emory?

UIUC
Friday, October 03 2008 at 08:00 PM

Looking forward to meeting up with some of our class this summer or fall! I just did a few years, but I did a green belt's worth of Judo, and a yellow belt (or equivalent) each in Karate, Kuk Sool Won, and Jiu Jitsu, plus a little fencing to round things out. It was really just to occupy myself during college, but I enjoyed it a great deal. I'm experiencing some minor back problems these days, so I'm a little more inactive, hoping I can heal up without stressing things further and get back to training!

Friday, January 23 2009 at 07:00 PM

Dude, I love how nice guy is included in your extras.. That is AWESOME. Nice cycle yourself, it looks like you applied all over. Any first choices yet?

Friday, January 23 2009 at 07:00 PM

I think I may be at Duke next semester, although jeez I do dig Illinois too...I think that's what it's going to be between, but Duke gave me a really good offer, so I'm thinking I'm inclined to take it...but damn, these are tough decisions!

YAY!
Thursday, November 20 2008 at 07:00 PM

That's awesome! You made the right decision :) I signed my lease for Campus Crossings, so I'll be there next year. What about you? I also loved my campus visit, and I'm a big fan of the Atlanta area too! When are you moving there? Take care!

WOW
Tuesday, July 22 2008 at 08:00 PM

Vandy? Well done, my friend. Congratulations! Looks like WM for me pending another miracle!
