Not Hall of Fame numbers, but happy with the way my cycle ended up.

Additional info & updates

Scholarship money listed for all three years.

Rankings:
1 - Reach/Target - based on geography and ranking. Schools I'm legitimitely excited about attending.
2 - Target Schools- would attend if hefty scholly
3 - Safety Schools - Would probably need a full-ride to attend.

Got a much-improved October LSAT score. Finishing up LORs, PS, and going to try to complete all applications by Dec 1.

Dec 1 came and went and I still don't have my apps complete. I'm securing my final LOR and polishing my personal statement. This is taking more time than I had hoped and it's tough to juggle while working Fulltime.

FInally got a couple of applications out. I'm excited about starting to hear from some of these schools.

1/9 - Unless something else pops up, I think I'm done applying. While most of my schools provided me merit fee waivers, the $12 adds up and I'm disinclined to apply to schools I have no interest in.

1/18 - Accepted into Toledo. Always good to start the cycle off with a win.

1/20 - Accepted into Akron via status checker. 2 for 2.

1/20 - Thought I was done applying, then realized I somehow had neglected applying to Arizona State. Late app submitted today.

1/22 - Scholly info arrived via snail mail today. Full tuition - ~$20k/yr

1/25 - Scholly info from Bama - $22,500/yr (around 80% of OOS tuition)

1/28 - Came home to an acceptance from Indiana - Bloomington with a 40k/yr scholarship.

1/31 - Accepted via email to Case Western. 6 for 6! Let's keep the streak alive, baby!

2/1 - Got scholarship information from Case - $15k/yr. I'll probably withdraw soon. It won't be enough when put up against Bama and Indiana, which are offering 80% and 95% tuition scholarships respectively.

2/3 - Got preliminary waitlisted from Iowa. There goes my perfect game I was pitching. I guess I can still go for a shutout #BadBaseballMetaphors

2/10 - got email from Michigan State telling me my file was on hold until I complete a 2-page "why MSU" essay. It's a transparent attempt to yield protect. If they had requested it at the beginning of the process, I would have happily filled it out, but it was not a required document. To change the rules now after my budgeted time for completing app materials has expired is ridiculous. Left a really bad taste in my mouth regarding MSU.

2/22 - Got my first rejection today from OSU. That works out fine, I suppose since I've always had a deep hatred for OSU athletics and reconciling that with my admittance would be difficult.

3/15 - Waitlisted from William & Mary, which I'm okay with. Withdrew from Case Western today.

4/7 - Deferred until 2012 at Indiana University - Bloomington

5/2 - Rejected from Arizona State. Had already deferred at Indiana for 2012 so wouldn't be able to attend, but wanted to get the value out of my $60 fee. Thus ends my cycle.

Thanks for the advice! I'm pretty sure most schools take the highest LSAT score nowadays because that is what the rankings are based on now...but I'm still going to cancel anyway. I know I did way lower than my potential and I'm taking it again in October regardless...Thanks for the advice though! Best of luck on your cycle!

How'd it Go?

So I decided not to go with a prep course. I got a friendly donation of TONS of LSAT tests from someone who went to KAPLAN so I am going to go with the self study method not to mention I already took a generic prep course that was pretty good. 15-20 a week? Honestly I have more than enough time considering I dont work and I am mature enough (28) to understand it will pay off but damn its hard to motivate myself to sit there and DO IT. Lol any advice there. As you can see I am applying to about 15 schools 5 dreams 5 hopefully and 5 last resorts and 1 wild card because when I apply (In September) I wont know my Oct score yet so yea I am planning for all score ranges lol. ANY ADVICE??? Thanks

Got it

I view it as my duty to do everything in my power to prevent you from being forced to eat that bug! Your LSAT should be released by next Friday. Good luck! I bet you did better than June's test. The games were definitely a killer on that one. From what I can tell, October was a more familiar test. I reckon OSU is probably your first choice since you're already in Dublin?

Thanks man!!! That offer is going to be tough to turn down. Good luck with your cycle!!!

Congratulations on the new LSAT! I think that just seriously changed your cycle! And thanks for the tip on Akron. They throw a lot of money around which is probably why their requirements are so high.

Monday, October 11 2010 at 08:00 PM

Good luck, I wouldn't be surprised if you got acceptances from every single one of those schools

Great point...
Tuesday, November 02 2010 at 08:00 PM

I completely agree with your point. I'm going to apply to NYU, Stanford, Columbia, and Harvard. I figure why not take a chance? Congrats on the 167! You and I have almost the same numbers. I spoke with an admission officer and they told me that they don't look at GPA that much once you've been out of school more than 7 years. What did you get on the LSAT the first time? I got a 162. I was nervous after the October test, but really happy with my new scores. Please stay in touch and let me know how your cycle goes. Good luck and hope you had a great Thanksgiving.

Have you heard from any schools yet?

Just got accepted at Loyola. Please let me know when you hear something.

Congrats to you too!!! I'll keep checking to see how your cycle is going. Thanks again for the kind message!

They're just rolling on in, now! Congrats on Case, too!

Saturday, June 26 2010 at 08:00 PM

I just updated my profile and saw that you must have been hit with the same Akron email. Congratulations! Sorry about OSU. For what it's worth, I was very unhappy there and left after my first year of UG.

Saturday, June 26 2010 at 08:00 PM

Looks like we were posting at the same time! Case isn't giving me any money and Cleveland hasn't even acknowledged my existence so Akron is looking very attractive now. I know that It's nearly impossible to retain their scholarship, but at least it's an opportunity for a nearly full ride on PT.

You didn't happen to be the other mascot who picked a fight with Brutus? Because right now I'm not so sure you're innocent!
