Additional info & updates

NB: Dollar amount from King Hall is first year of need-based grants multiplied by three, with assumption that first year amount does not lessen over 2nd or 3rd years.

Sending these babies off way late, so you know the saying about making your bed and sleeping in it.

Time to watch the horses run!

02/01: First acceptance arrives today! American University. Pretty darn fast! I am not at all expecting all schools to get back this quickly. Nice to see what that first law school acceptance packet looks like.
02/12: I HAVE to stop checking online status checkers like an addict! I'm going crazy. As David Carradine (RIP) said, "Patience, young grasshopper."
02/18: Boalt rejection, by email... expected, so it's good to get THAT out of the way.
02/19: "Letter of decision mailed," Washington & Lee. Interesting...
02/20: OUT at GW Law. : ( That stung a little, even though my numbers put me at maybe a 33% chance of acceptance.
02/22: OUT at Washington and Lee, snail mail. I am distinctly not enjoying this process right now. They weren't a top choice, but I am very surprised/bummed by this result.
02/26: Preferred Waitlist at GULC! Received via email. Did NOT expect that at all. I don't hold out too much hope, but it's nice to be put on the list all the same.
03/06: ZERO activity this past week. Not a fan of that...
03/09: UVA Waitlist! Amazing. Probably just a dangled carrot in the long run, but I'll bite! ( :
03/12: Waitlist at UC Davis. Status checker. It's a good thing I had already pushed them out of my top choices. Still, I'm not sure what to say to this... I'm guessing 21% boost in applications played a part.
03/19: Wailtist at W&M, by email. I am now officially a Waitlist collector. :(
03/20: BU rejects me, by mail. March is turning out to be a rough month!
03/23: Waitlisted at UC Hastings... exactly one hour after I had a class visit and a campus tour! I made a very good impression too. Impressive tact, Hastings.
I am dispirited, and am now considering delaying, and re-taking the LSAT in October. ) :
03/24: Accepted at Santa Clara, snail mail. That helps after the recent trend, even if they are far lower on my list of preferences.
04/08: Dinged at Duke. E-mail. That was expected.
04/15: Flying blind here. Withdrew from both of my acceptances. Feel good things coming down the road with Cardozo, UNC, BLS, and hopefully get off a waitlist or two!
04/24: BC rejection letter. This was expected. However, after 3 months of this, the trend is clear, and the combination of increased applications, my late application, and my borderline LSAT=waitlists and dings. I am preparing for, and researching, Plan B: re-apply, take a year off.
04/27: Fordham ding, via status checker. Classy. I will leave out my usual maudlin assessment. One gets used to it.
04/29: Waitlisted at UNC, via email. I am VERY close to re-taking in October, re-applying in October, working and living for 14 moths in DC. There's ALWAYS a Plan B.
05/11: "level of interest" email from Hastings. Very good chance I get a seat offer from them in coming days... : /
06/17: In at Davis!! Wow, that was a long time coming! :)
06/29: $25K in needs-based grants from UC Davis for the first year alone! I am floored. :)
What a great end to an otherwise completely lousy cycle!

Good luck with your cycle! We have really similar numbers and both worked our way through college. I also sent my apps out late haha. Here's to hoping!

thanks!

Yea I'm a little shocked about BC since I got into WUSTL but it wasn't a top choice and I'm hoping maybe BU will let me in.. good luck on your cycle!

I'm sorry to see all of your waitlists! It's a shock to me really. Great LSAT great GPA and great softs ! What went wrong? If you got waitlisted at Brooklyn then i'm definitely being rejected lol. What a bummer. I'm thinking about my plan B too. Retaking and/or reapplying early for next cycle and taking another year off and either sticking to my job or teaching abroad. But you're right - always a plan B! Good luck riding the waitlists though!

Thanks! I'm really looking forward to it. Davis will be a great change of pace I think. Hopefully you will get off the waitlist and join me! I would think you have a great shot at it.

why the bad cycle

To those of you wondering (dhg5004): I was arrested in 2003 for a drug charge. I also went through a deportation proceedings for 3 years after that. I have been more decent and law-abiding than many grandmothers since then, and I have a great GPA. I also turned my experience into a great story about where i cam from, and where I've been going forward since then. BUT: that explains most of the mystery behind BLS's incredible WL (!!), and also the ding at W&L, and all those other WLs too! Adcomms are rational, careful people, and this might give them pause, or at least tilt me juuust to the other side of the fence, you know. Plus, I had a first LSAT of 159... I didn't put that on this site. Plus, all the applicants this year! The take-away: if one of these 7 WLs don't give me a shot, I'm starting over in October. A 165 even on the LSAT would make DRAMATIC changes to so many of the above results.

I don't know what you mean, DF 05/3 or 05/06? At BLS?
