Additional info & updates

2/19/09: I submitted all my applications between October 18 and November 15.

I'm applying to other schools, obviously. These first few could all be completed using just the personal statement I iniitally wrote. GWU, why do you have to be difficult?

I'm praying that law schools don't just stop at my numbers and automatically reject me.

November 24: Faith is a good thing.

12/1: Decision at Gtown, according to the status checker. An early rejection? I'm nervous. I'm not optimistic? How am I supposed to concentrate on work? My mail didn't come until 7:00 PM today. Nothing from Gtown.

12/2: I received the blue package from Duke Law today. I checked a few times, but, alas, still no letter from Gtown.

12/3: Rejected at Gtown. With my numbers, I have to accept some/mostly rejections, right? It just hurts now, though.

12/18: Received email saying I'm "Under Committee Review" at Berkeley. I think that means the chances of getting in have fallen, as Dean Tom didn't want me that bad.

1/8: Went to decision at Michigan. My ID works in the admittted students site: http://cgi2.www.law.umich.edu/AdmitInfo/login.aspx ! It says my offer was mailed on Jan. 5. Barring any cruel jokes Michigan is playing, I'm in, I guess...but I'll wait for the package.

1/8: Just came home. I got the blue Mich package!

1/16: Went to decision on Cornell online status checker. There is a link to admitted students site. I hope this means good news. It's really ambiguous, though.

1/22: Wait list invitation email from UPenn.
1/22: Received the acceptance package from Cornell. I guess that answers that.
2/7: On hold at Chicago.

2/19: Weird, right? Berkeley was the only school that I sent a targeted recommendation to.

April 17, 2009: I got an email with a PDF from Columbia letting me know I was accepted. I've wanted Columbia since high school, and I defintely thought it wouldn't happen. The cycle is over, I believe. This site has been very helpful, actually, and I thank you all.

Hey man. I came across your profile and I was really impressed. I just wanted to say best of luck. Your school list is daunting, but I think you have a great shot, considering your diverse background. I'd send as many letters of recommendation as possible, though. These schools want to know that you have people willing to vouch for you. The more positive reinforcement, the better, even if they might just skim the letter.
