Well, I planned to pay it straight up because I was too lazy to apply for the scholarship at the time. Im starting to regret that decision after sending out my first deposit.

I'm just curious: what factors are you considering in your choice b/w tulane and howard? Pros/Cons?

Thank you and you too

I'll be at the William Mitchell location, you? If you go to Tulane, I'll most likely be right next door at Loyola :)

Thank you and you too

Me too...

That was one of the major factors in my decision to push Howard towards the top of my list. I go to a school w/about 10% AA and at my high school it was just about only me : ) . I always wanted the HBCU experience, but Tulane's $$$ is def. calling my name... I hope to see you there. Any other school on your list that would make you forget about the deposit you sent and run?

Hey

Well I'm originally from Vegas and then I did my undergrad at Alabama and I love the South and Vegas and New Orleans is a little bit of both which is why I'm excited to go to Loyola :) Well if you don't end up in Sunny San Diego, then I hope to see you in good ole Minnesota! Let me know how it turns out.

Nola housing...
Saturday, October 22 2005 at 08:00 PM

Yeah, I'm headed down this summer to find an apt. I've already been browsing craigslist and everything seems so expensive. I found this one place that was absolutely gorgeous, but so much $$$. I'm hoping I can get a job for a few months before school starts in Aug. I don't think there is on campus housing for grad students. I read somewhere that they're in the process of building a new residence hall, but they're not specifying it as grad or undergrad yet and it def. won't be finished by August. I spoke w/a student during my visit and she said that 3L's who are leaving the area are going to let the admissions office know where they're vacating apt.'s to allow new students to move in and take advantage of nicer apt.'s with possibly cheaper rent. Have you looked at the admitted students' website? There's a ton of good info on it about housing, Nola, academics, etc...

Congrats

Hey

I'm from Mississippi. I think that's why I'm so shocked about the rent. I'm used to living cheap! About $400-$800 is the normal price range for a nice one bedroom in my area.

Recruiting at Howard & Tulane...
Saturday, October 22 2005 at 08:00 PM

Yeah, that's one of the things that originally kept drawing me back to Howard. Howard has hundreds of recruiters! Still, I did a little research on the NALP directory. I searched for firms that recruited at Howard and then went to the firm websites to see how many actually hired Howard grads: there were only a few at each firm if any at all. I then did a search for Tulane grads and there were considerably more in the areas I'm interested in practicing in: GA, TX, CA. And the firms that hired more Tulane grads than Howard grads didn't even recruit at Tulane! Granted, Howard does have a considerably smaller class than Tulane, but it still makes me wonder if the firms that recruit at Howard are only there to be able to imply on the NALP directory and others like it that they are committed to diversity, not necessarily putting those ideas into practice. Also, the Howard grads at these firms were at the top of their classes: editors of journals, etc. While many hired Tulane grads were editors of journals, Order of the Coif, etc., there was a considerable number of others who weren't. This leads me to believe that firms are more apt to dig a little deeper into the class for hires at Tulane, while this may not be necessarily true at Howard. I don't know though, maybe I'm slightly biased b/c I love Tulane so much (and the $$$ they're offering). And this was a very unscientific study that I did on my own, but I guess I have to go with the tools at my disposal... What do you think?

Congrats again...

Response 2 the comment above

Clearly, the ditz that left the above comment regarding CLEO is ignorant, to say the least. Also, the person clearly does not have the balls to identify themselves while leaving such a nasty comment. atleast be bold enuff 2 leave a valid screename so we can respond 2 u...then again ur too focused on acing ur first yr of law school...to waste valuable time stoking the ego of a nonentity! so don't let it get 2 u sis!
