Thanks, GL to you too. I'm afraid applying late hurts me as well, but I committed to the cycle late and can't afford to waste a year either. Are you a VA resident, btw? UVa could be a great shot if so!
- gengarGood luck with your cycle! With your numbers I don't see you having much trouble :) What are your first choices?
- hbb123thanks, i certainly hope so! congrats on william & mary! i'm anxiously awaiting a response from them.
- lsnhut7083Super congrats on W&M. I applied late too - so who knows! Have to say the accept to WM makes me a happy camper. Thanks for your comment too. I'll keep an eye out. Glad to see someone else who went as application crazy as I did.
- encarnadineCongrats on the $$ from W&M, and good luck with the rest of the cycle.
- wzmundyThanks for the encouragement and congrats on your acceptances thus far! Nice $$ from W&M. Good luck and I hope you get into your top pick.
- cjcleaveand congrats on your acceptances so far. looks like you have a lot more coming! :) good luck!
- qoftheuOn bama
- logged userThat last comment was me. Congrats.
- folkysaintCongrats on Alabama...I'm surprised they didn't offer any money (or is that info on the way?). What's realistically your top choice? I could see you getting into USC. Best of luck this cycle, and thanks for droppin' by a while back.
- Blackjack19Nice work on U of M. Hopefully I'll see you there next fall.
- stinson327Hey, thank you. nope, no special connections at Penn... honestly Im still amazed and thank god that I got in. I dont know if i did anything particularly special in terms of my application... the only advice I can think of is is to make sure that you write a why Penn essay, they're pretty big on that. HTH and good luck with all your remaining schools!
- suicidallawyermany thanks. you should be money too. i don't think the late apps hurt too much as long as the submit date doesn't extend beyond march or so (with ASW's, tuition approaching, etc). even so, your #'s would be strong relative to other WL'ers
- rezipsaNo connection - just sent in extra material explaining my not so amazing LSAT. GMU seems to be more interested in numbers than the story, so I think that explains my rejection. You're doing so well! It must feel great to get so much good news so quickly!
- beanie13Congrats on all of your acceptances! Do you have any schools that you are leaning towards right now?
- lookingforanswersI still really like Wash U, Cornell, and UT Austin, but Indiana just moved to the top of my list with their scholarship offer! Are you still considering Indiana?
- lookingforanswers...that *I* applied to a lot of schools! You\'ve got me beat. Congrats on all the success so far.
- MissVirginiaAnd good luck with the rest of your cycle as well!!
- lookingforanswers-On number of applications -- that must have been a lot of work! P.S. Any scholarship offers from Miami?
- krogerFor your post. I'm honestly not that interested in going to DC. Emory was my top choice. I only applied to places I was interested in attending - I'd rather go to Miami and be happy than go to a 20-40 ranked school someplace I would hate. I realize that may seem sort of shallow, but from personal experience I just do better when I'm happy.
- etmerianBest of luck to you as well! We're pretty much in the same boat with late apps and numbers. Keeping my fingers crossed for us both, especially at the reach schools!
- hopefulinvirginiahahaha will do! anything for a fellow LSDer rite!
- suicidallawyerThanks for the update. I'm sure that means I'll be withdrawing myself.
- krogerAlas, we had the same fate on the same day! Wonder if that will happen at UVA and others. Where are you leaning? Will you have to make a deposit anywhere by April 1?
- hopefulinvirginiaIn exactly the same boat - W&M or W&L (pending other decisions). Completely agree on the new third year program at W&L and feeling a bit put off by the April 1st deadline to keep the scholarship. W&M also has course offerings and additional programs that better suit my interests. Not to mention the difference in cost! All that said, I was leaning towards W&L and can't make admit weekend at either school, so finding it difficult to make a decision. Still keeping my fingers crossed for another option!

- HopefulInVirginiaVery interesting. Do you mind my asking what you said to W&M to make that happen? I'm not sure how to go about that type of request. Sorry to see the NW decision - did you do an interview? Plenty of other options left!
- hopefulinvirginiaThat's very helpful - thank you! I've heard USC's office is extremely friendly, which is useful since they don't have an app status tracker. Too bad about NU, but as you pointed out, being straight out of UG is a disadvantage with them. Still, many good options on your plate and hopefully more to come!
- hopefulinvirginiaCongrats on the scholarship! Did you attend the ASW today? How did you get the increase?
- msjb95Yes, I was there. I was also very impressed! I sent an e-mail to Dean Shealy two weeks ago asking to be considered for money...but haven't received a response. Wondering if I should pick up the phone and call her.
- msjb95Thank you so much! I did send LOCI and am flying out to WM from Seattle for an interview. Taking bull by the horns - lol.
- encarnadineI think it's only because you aimed a bit higher than me... and I'm still pending at two so it's a little early to say that haha.
- limegreenSorry to see it - will you stay on the WL? How'd you find out so quickly? I went to decision last Friday and still haven't received a letter. Thanks for the other advice. I did not deposit at W&L. If I lose the scholarship while deciding, so be it. How was W&M ASW? They are really moving up on my list. Hang in there!
- hopefulinvirginiaThanks, that's the plan (interview and hope). Have you followed up with W&L? They pushed my deposit deadline (with scholarship) back to April 16 - nice to have an extra two weeks! I'm finally visiting this weekend and trying to find a time to visit W&M. Really need to make a decision between those two! Will you attend W&M over Minnesota? How would a USC admission factor in for you? The worst part of applying so late is the extended waiting game and constant deposit deadlines!
- hopefulinvirginiaFeeling the same way about USC - what a wild card that would be! Giving the W&L visit a little time to sink in. Have had great contact with W&M students and alumni and leaning the same way as you - a positive visit next weekend will seal the deal. Haven't paid any attention to Michigan since being cut loose (trying not to make myself too crazy via LSN, though it's tough!). Thought I'd be a great fit at Michigan, but it appears they felt differently. Oh well - can't lose sleep over it! The UVA decision is a nice consolation (though I'm trying not to get my hopes up too much). Sorry to see the G'town decision - did you apply full time only?
- hopefulinvirginiaApplied both full and part time at GULC, thinking I might continue working or use it as a way into a top 14 if no others work out. Definitely changed my mind on that now, though suspecting a part time decision is coming my way. Thanks for the congrats re: UVA. I was pleasantly surprised by the priority status, but trying to keep reasonable expectations. Getting very anxious for other decisions!
- hopefulinvirginiaHope you're doing well! Have you made a decision yet on where you'll be this fall?
- lookingforanswersCongrats on making your decision! Based on visits and contacts, I'm holding on to W&M as well. Genuinely think W&M will be a good fit and realizing that if it's not top-14, it's probably not worth $60k/year. If only those top-14 schools would get back to us!
- hopefulinvirginiaCongrats on making a decision! I'm on the waitlist at W&M....maybe I'll see you there =)
- beanie13on your decision! I guess I will be seeing you there. Are you doing the GradPlex?
- msjb95I am not really excited about the GradPlex, I have been out of dorm type living for over a year now. There seems to be alot of great apartments close by. As for Fordham... not really. I didn\'t want to be in NY city, and the no $ thing would be rough.
- msjb95I really admire your attitude/approach! As hopeful as I remain that one or more of my pending schools will work out, I'm resigned to the fact that they're all long shots this late in the cycle. Perhaps we'll be classmates this fall at W&M!
- hopefulinvirginiaWhere were you thinking , as far as an apartment? I've scoped out a few places on the web. It just seems to make more sense than the GradPlex. It kind of expensive for a dorm room. I figure if I take on roommate it would cost about the same for a much nicer place.
- msjb95LOL - You said to tell you. Hahaha. Guess we are going to be classmates! I just got back from WM, it was gorgeous. Have you been there yet?
- encarnadinethanks, i'm really excited. i've known that i want to be back in nyc and that's where i want to work, so fordham is pretty ideal. good choice with w&m. that is a nice scholarship!
- lsnhut7083Haha I know about the miracle thing, but it looks like you've had a very nice cycle yourself, you should be very proud!
- SevenTimes22So you've withdrawn from Penn and Duke? There is something to be said for ending the waiting game (other than USC). I had the same fate at Vandy - is it me, or did they waitlist TONS of people this year? C'est la vie.
- hopefulinvirginiaSo you've withdrawn from Penn and Duke? There is something to be said for ending the waiting game (other than USC). I had the same fate at Vandy - is it me, or did they waitlist TONS of people this year? C'est la vie.
- hopefulinvirginiaI am always impressed by people like you who have great LSAT scores and take the time to encourage those of us who don't. For some, a very daunting process becomes that much more discouraging without support. Thanks for your positive feedback and kind thoughts. :)
- crissylawyer2beHaha yeah, we are practically cycle twins! Did the UVA interview yesterday and now want it more badly than ever! Time will tell... Why did you withdraw from Duke and Penn? Just ready to be done with it?
- hopefulinvirginiaI don;t know where you got your stat but the correlation between lsat and predictive success alone is much higher than 40%. <a href="http://www.lsacnet.org/research/Predictive-Validity-LSAT-National-Summary-2003-2004-Correlation-Studies.pdf" title="http://www.lsacnet.org/research/Predictive-Validity-LSAT-National-Summary-2003-2004-Correlation-Studies.pdf" class="data">http://www.lsacnet.org/research/Predictive-Validity-LSAT-National-Summary-2003-2004-Correlation-Studies.pdf</a>
- etaomega14From your own report ".48 for 2003 and .47 for 2004." The considering the margin of error accounting for by the test, I feel rather safe saying there's a 40% correlation. Considering it's done by large percentiles it's even less refined. It's not an exact science, but the best tool available at the moment . It's also making the rather inane assumption that all UG instutitons and majors are equal.
- alltimelowAt some places, it's obvious my late applications hurt (WUSTL's "overcommitted" hold list is case in point). At the same time, higher-ranked schools accepting me are LSAT-biased (Illinois, Minn), and lower-ranked schools WL/rejecting me did the same to some applicants with similar GPA/LSAT. You're going to wait out UVA, right? ;)
- gengarYeah, no way I can make a decision at this point. My priority is pretty much T14 > USC/UCLA (close to home - prefer USC based on visit but like both) > everything else, which I'd decide based on geography and where I want to be longer-term. Anyway, thanks for the good luck wishes - just day by day for me. Hope you get off that UVA waitlist, I really wanted to go myself!
- gengarI don't think there is much of a correlation between a person's LSAT score and their law school performance. The LSAT is a learned test. If there was such a correlation than there would not be classes on how to improve a person's score.
- CriminalawHeck yeah this is eaxtcly what I needed.
