Additional info & updates

*Scholarships are per yr.

1/4/08 - Sweet, in at Houston, small white envelope. It'll be tough to decide between them and AU. Feel free to leave suggestions.

2/8/08- In at CU, large white envelope.

2/28/08 - Rejected at Duke, small white envelope. Can't say I didn't see that coming.

3/1/08 - Rejected by Wis. small white envelope. I thought I had a good shot at them, but I would've gone to UH over them anyway.

3/15/08 - WL at Utah, small white envelope. I have a feeling it's going to be like OU. They WL me to see if I respond and then accept me. Again, UH is my choice over them especially with UH's boost in the rankings.

3/23/08 - Rejected by Emory, small white envelope.
3/23/08 - Wait-listed by Iowa, small white envelope. Hopefully; I got a shot.

3/29/08 - WL at BYU, small white envelope. Houston here I come. I'm pretty excited about that.

5/25/08 -Another WL offer from BYU in the form of an email.

5/28/08 - WL email from UMN. I would really like to go there, but who knows.

Sorry to hear about UT. How did they inform you of their decision?

Just happened

...to be online too. Thanks for the response. On UH -- you and me both. I think your chances are definitely pretty good with 160/URM. What's your first choice?

congrats...

Yeah, they did send a letter asking for new grades when available, but I've been out of school for a bit, so it wasn't really applicable to me. It came about 2 weeks before the accept email.

Hard to say right now

Congrats!

Congrats on the "deferral" - its not the waiting list, they are just putting the apps on "hold" until they get a better idea of what the class looks like. Good luck on the rest of your cycle!

Hey moogs15, Been following your profile for awhile as you are applying to a few of the same schools as me. Congrats on Houston, from what I can tell, it is a great school to get into. Question for you, have you noticed any changes on your status checker for BYU? Mine changed Friday and am wondering if it has changed for anyone else. I would tell you "good luck" on your cycle, but your numbers are serving you well.

Status Checker woes...
Tuesday, December 26 2006 at 07:00 PM

Hey Moogs, Sorry to bother you again, but my status changed again. Here is what is says on the status checker: Current Status: Under Review Current Status Date: 2/7/2008 Decision Status: Pending Decision Status Date: 2/7/2008 The "decision status" portion is new today. Does your status checker say the same? (and has it shown "decision status" since early Jan?) If so, then I know I have a while to go before I get a decision. Sorry to see the rejection from GWU. You still have quite a few good schools to hear from.

It's a REALLY hard decision. I was so prepared to just pick UB. I don't know if I can really turn down free tuition though...

Emory

Actually no, I never checked the status checker lol. I was STUNNED by how fast the turn around was. Everywhere else is dragging sooo slow. Best of luck! And well done at American!

MN

Howdy. I got a voicemail message from the asst. director of admission asking me what my plans were, and when i called back, he offered me a spot. i asked specifically about scholarships because tuition deposits were due 11 days after the initial notification and was finally notified by voicemail today (2 days before deposit). Good luck! Out of curiosity and if you don\'t mind my asking, why\'d you turn down CU and AU over UH?

UH
Thursday, January 24 2008 at 07:00 PM

Ah, that makes perfect sense then. And like you mentioned, it looks like UH is moving on up the rankings. Not that rankings matter as much when you have a specific market already lined up, but still nice. And don\'t give up quite yet on MN if it\'s somewhere you\'d really like to go...their second round of tuition deposits are due postmarked June 15...so I\'m thinking they\'re probably doing to do a few pulls off their deferral list afterward. They had gone almost completely off my radar since I hadn\'t heard anything from them since December, but then out of the blue they get in touch. So it\'s not over until it\'s over. In any case, congrats -- it looks like you\'ve had a great cycle and have a really nice option in the bag. :)

UMN WL

To tell you the truth, I haven\'t got a clue what the odds of getting in off the UMN waitlist are. Looking at other people on LSN, there are folks who were deferred and just got rejected, so the fact that you were kept on the list instead of being rejected indicates that you\'re likely still in the running. As I mentioned earlier, the second seat deposit there is supposed to be postmarked by June 20, so I\'m thinking that they might be be making some pulls once they cull non-payers from the list of admitted students. Last year they were pulling off the waitlist through late July, and I read that applications to law schools were down 17% nationwide from last year. All of this is a long-winded way of saying that the odds are good that a lot of schools this year likely overestimated the size of their application pool and are now winding up with fewer students coming in than they had initially planned for, all of which translates into good news for us waitlisters. If UMN is your top choice but you\'re not in a situation where you could change plans at the drop of a hat if you get a phonecall from them sometime in mid-July, you could always write them and explain how they are your top choice, and you\'d go if you were given the chance, but you\'re planning on signing a lease in Houston on July XX, and you were hoping they might be able to give you a better idea of how their class is shaping up and if they anticipate being able to offer you a seat. Perfectly reasonable question to ask, and it might bump you up on the list if they know that you\'ll go if they give you a chance. This is a good read for waitlisters: http://www.annaivey.com/iveyfiles/2008/03/waitlists-and-t.html good luck!
