Additional info & updates

Very involved in the community
Have a master's -4.0 GPA
Married
Hoping my stellar "softs" and addendums will help!
Yes, my numbers are legit

12/24/09-Got an early nice Christmas gift with my acceptance to Maryland. The turnaround was very quick so I was pretty confident it was good news. I am a finalist for their Leadership Scholars program. Have interview in April. With instate residency hopefully the scholarship would knock out most of the tuition costs.

01/20/10-Received my rejection letter to George Mason last night. A little surprised especially given that my application status checker is still blank. I hate schools that don't update!! Wasn't really interested in the school anyways so I am not too disappointed. I am refusing to allow this setback to cloud my expectation of decisions, especially at the top-tier programs I applied to.

01/21/10-Very delighted and surprised to receive my admittance to George Washington today. Put my fears at ease and solidified what I said above. :)

1/27/10-Got an email saying I was waitlisted at UVA. I am okay with the decision because it means that a top school seriously considered me in spite of my weak scores. Very glad it wasn't a rejection! The door is still cracked....

02/03/10-Surprised to receive a Priority box from Vanderbilt. Cried when I opened my acceptance letter. It's very bittersweet. Vandy had always been my top choice because of my interest in sport and entertainment law. However, know it looks like I can't go unless my husband doesn't match for residency. SIGH :(

02/05/10-Received a congratulations email stating my acceptance to NW. A nice way to end the week, although I definitely prefer acceptances by snail mail. NW would be a great choice considering my non-traditional status and age.

02/12/10-Just received a call from the BU admissions office telling me I was accepted and that my admissions package was on the way. A great way to end the week. Now if I could just here back from Duke...

2/14/10/-Contacted Duke, UNC, Emory, and Howard's admissions offices. Hoping to get some information regaring my application status because my husband's rank list is due at the end of the month. Wouldn't want him ranking a place if I don't get into a school in that city. Heard back from everyone except Howard. Hopefully should receive decision from these school this week or early next. Keeping the prayers going up (for Duke especially!)

2/19/10-Just received a call from the Dean at Penn. I am totally blown, I was not expecting that call at all. God is good! I also received a call from Howard saying my admission looked favorable and that my letter was on the way. I appreciate them helping me make my husband's rank deadline.

2/21/10-Was not expecting to hear back from Duke on Sunday, but what a pleasant surprise and such a relief! Praising God!

2/25/10-Received the congratulations call from Dean States at UNC Chapel Hill. My packet is on the way. In the meantime, I am stressing filling out all these financial aid and scholarship forms. It's a lot of work, hoping it pays off.

3/1/10-Got my scholarship letter from Vandy. I received the Dean's Scholarship worth $15,000 a year. This was without my need access info which I submitted last week. Very pleased, I really love Vandy sigh....

3/6/10-Finally got my acceptance letter from Howard. Received a merit scholarship of $15, 000/year. That's a little more than half considering Howard's tuition is only $24K/year. I wish other schools were that inexpensive!

3/9/10-Withdrew from BU.

3/16/10-Held at Harvard. Apparently it's not the same as waitlisted so I'm considering submitting an additional essay.

3/18/10-Waitlisted at Emory after an incredibly long wait! Ha-freaking-larious.

4/21/10-Waitlisted at Harvard today via email. Can't say I'm surprised. Kinda nice not to be rejected.

Cycle complete. Moved to Philly and headed to UPENN in the fall. I feel so blessed to have had such a great cycle. I hope my success shows others on LSN that you can still have a great cycle even without the best numbers. To God be the glory. Best of luck to everyone.

Applying to GW as Well

I also got rejected from Mason. I have a feeling that they just look at GPA and LSAC score. At first I thought that if I got rejected from Mason there is not way GW would accept/waitlist me so I didn't even apply - but I think I am going to!

Upon looking at your profile, I am EXTREMELY suprised you were rejected from Mason! Your GPA and LSAT score still make you a competitive applicant, I have a friend that is NOT a URM that got a 154 and has a 3.5 that was accepted...anyhow, congratulations on Vandy, I don't know what your reaches are but you will defenitly get into a T14!!

Brilliant cycle!

Congrats on your great acceptances!! Where are you thinking of going? I got into NU, too, but with no scholarship. You thinking of going there?

Where are you headed?

WOW! What a great batch of acceptances! Are you going to attend Penn? If not, any chance you'd withdraw to up the chances of people with similar #s such as myself? You had an amazing cycle and I wish you all the best.

Congrats - you're inspiring me

I am new to LSN, and I came across your profile and saw that your numbers are similar to mine (152 LSAT and 3.3 GPA; retaking LSAT this October). I just wanted to say congrats and that you're giving me hope. It's great to see that you got into such great schools, and it gives me hope that schools look at more just the numbers. I too have a lot of professional and life experiences to offer, so I hope the schools will see that when I apply this year. If you have any advice as I apply, please do offer. Good luck at Penn!
