Extra Curricular Information

Club Sports : Judo and Wrestling
Work : I worked between 30 and 40 hours per week for most of my college career .
I have worked for several large companies since graduation in their IT departments .

Bilingual : English and French .
Also a little older then the most applicants ; almost 28

MY GPA is pretty bad due to the fact that I never withdrew properly from my first college almost 10 years ago and the fact that I worked full time and went to school full time almost my entire college career.......Lets hope a good lsat and some work experience helps me overcome it !

02-05-08 - All apps are sent out..and now begins the waiting game . Im realistic not expecting to get into most of these schools with my stats , but all I need is 1 !

02-05-08 - Rejected at St. Johns...small envelope today . Not really surprised .

02-08-08 - Rejected NYLS . Small envelope .

02-08-08 - Accepted at Albany !!! WooHooo....its a huge relief to know that im in somewhere . I received an email today letting me know I had been accepted .

02-09-08 - Waitlisted at Chapman U and placed on an "admission pending " list at Valpo.....I think thats their fancy way of saying waitlist but ill take it !

02-13-08 - Waitlisted at Hofstra . Its better then no .

02-20-08 - Rejected at Rutgers Newark via snail mail . Im a little bummed but not surprised really , it was a reach .

02-21-08 - Rejected at University of Baltimore via the small white envelope . I dont really care about this one because I considered UB as a backup...I am however a little confused . I have been accepted or waitlisted to schools with way better reputations than UB , yet I was rejected there !? This kind of goes to show that this whole process is more or less a crapshoot and you never know what might happen

02-25-08 - The start of a new week ! The anticipation is all but killing me at this stage.....if I can get 1 acceptance letter this week , I will consider it an excellent week !!

03-03-08 - Ding at Syracuse

03-06-08 - Ding at Pace

03-08-08 - Dinged at Buffalo and Michigan State . Im bummed about it but not all to surprised .

03-13-08 - Ding at Cal Western . Pretty indifferent about this one

03-14-08 - Ding at Loyola New Orleans - The rejection letter sucks but whatever .

04 -07 -08 - Ding at JMLS, Quinnipiac and DePaul via snail mail . Sucks !!

04 -09 - 07 - Ding at CUNY Law WTF !?

sooo..a little update since its been a while ;

05-06-08 - Withdrew from the waitlist at Suffolk

0 -09 -08 - Withdrew from waitlist at St. Marys and Valpo

06-24-08 - Phone call offering me admission into Hofstras full time day program . Politely declined .

08-08-08 - Rejection letter from Touro ?? Im glad it took them the better part of 8 months to figure it out

If anyone in subsequent years with similar circumstances reads this....the best advice I can offer you after having gone through this whole thing is APPLY TO AS MANY SCHOOLS AS YOU CAN REGARDLESS OS YOUR NUMBERS !!! I got into a T2 and a T3 yet I was dinged at arguably some of the worst schools in the country numbers were low for the places I got in and my numbers were right in the middle of the pack for a lot of the places i got rejected ....... The whole thing makes no sense !! So apply apply apply to places no matter what US news tells you or people on discussion boards......the whole process is somewhat irrational and you have a chance no matter what !

Hey Pauly, Congrats on getting into Albany! We have very similar numbers, so it's very encouraging to see someone else get accepted. I'm hoping to post a "woo hoo" myself soon...

Really I have no idea, I like the fact that I have been accepted to a 3rd tier, and I really just want to go to the highest rated school that I can get in to.

Hey Pauly, How are you feeling about your chances at DePaul? I'm 2.25/155, would love to go there, but don't think I have a snowball's chance in hell. Not to say you don't, but just curious as to what your opinion is...

Are you considering Albany? I visited in the summer and it's really a great school; the staff is really amazing!

  • JMLS
  • Sunday, February 17 2008 at 09:57 AM

I'd say JMLS is obviously the lowest of the 4 schools in Chicago, but it still has an upside. The location is very helpful for internships, and if you're interested in clerking for a judge. I'm really hoping to get accepted, b/c I think my chances at the other 3 (DePaul, Loyola, Kent) are slim to none.

It's a beautiful school and San Antonio is a cool city- close to Austin and Houston, a big selling point for me. Anyway, I took my LSAT there and it seemed like a calm, quiet place. Pretty nice and they let anyone in it seems. Maybe the above average lsat score will get us some scholarships. :)

Hey congrats on Albany! Nice school with good opportunities. I'm from NC but have been to Albany about 10 times for work in the last year. There seem to be some many opportunities within exp. in the govt sector. If your other choices don't pan out, I wish you the best...looks like you have a good shot at JM in Chicago. Good luck.

I really do not know... I will be going up to albany next week, as it is my spring break, so I will get a chance to see it before first deposits are due... I hope I see something that can help make my decision, because I really don't have a clue where I am going to end up...
