i'm gonna go ahead and first explain the LSAT average. i'm one of those few people who actually took the LSAT three times. first time i took it, i got a 148 on it (this couldn't be fit into LSN), which is what pulled my average down to 157. this is CLEARLY not a score that reflects my skill, but an accurate measure how stupied i am sometimes. there was this girl who was taking the test and needed a study buddy, along with someone to take the test with her to "calm her nerves". so i kinda just watched her study and took the test blind, and ended up with this piece of ish score. the things one does for love. so yea...take my advice and do NOT take it if you aren't ready. thus far i don't think it's really hurt me though, as that would easily put me far, FAR below the lower 25% of any school i've been admitted to, but i did explain in an addendum that i was not ready for the first test and ask that they please place more weight on the last two. moving on...

my major has been left blank because i believe that if you do major in something, you should at least have a firm grasp of the material. sadly, i could tell you nothing about economics (that's my major, congratulations for finding out) and so it's as good as useless.

the top of this section says "extracurricular info", but sadly, you will find none of that here. all i did in college was sleep until 5 pm, wake up, eat my "breakfast", play video games until around midnite, eat my "lunch", then continue playing until i passed out around 5 am. deadly cycle but somehow or another i managed to graduate with a fairly respectable gpa. just wish i had the extra .06 to make it a lovely 3.0 though. i can tell you how to land a sick head shot though, if that's considered a skill.

so you come here and see this monstrous list of schools and wonder "wtf is this guy thinking?!" trust me...if i saw this, i'd think you're nuts as well but truth of the matter is that i know a good amount of people who had numbers around mine who were able to squeeze themselves into a good school. i know this won't apply to harvard or any of the top 20 (those are for the parents...just so they can say i tried), but it's possible after the top 20. i just hope that my personal essay was enough to make schools overlook my crap of a gpa...

quick glance up top and you can see that i've been accepted by a few schools, so at least i know i'm going to law school. what should REALLY catch your eye is the monstrous list of rejections. i consider waiting lists as good as rejections since face it, the only time anyone should ever have to look twice is if you can't believe what you saw the first time, ie when a hot girl passes me by who winks at me or something. gotta look twice just to make sure she was doin it towards me. anyway...at first i thought i might have had a shot at a top 30 school but those rejections seem to be coming in the fastest. just makes me wonder why harvard and yale didn't just look at my file and say uh...no. could've done what UC hastings did and send me a letter telling me that i'm a huge dumbass for even thinking they'd consider me.

so with the schools that i've received admissions from, i've received scholarships to three schools; rutgers, syracuse, brooklyn, and indiana-indy. the rutgers scholarship was funny cuz it's a $7k a yr "academic merit" scholarship. you and i both know that there is nothing academic about me. i don't study, and my numbers are a prime example of this being true. whatever though, money's money. syracuse gave me $8k a yr but considering that they're private...that's chump change. be nice if they threw in some free luxury boxes or something so i could see them orangemen play (i refuse to call them orange...sounds so stupid cheering for a citrus fruit). also, brooklyn offered me a 8.5k scholarship granted i remain in the top 3rd of my class. i ranked in the bottom 3rd in undergrad so uh...i dono about that. same gripe as syracuse though, too little money for a private school. IUPUI offered a scholarship for 5k a year for a "nonresident". sounds a little like they rewarded me for not spending my life in indiana. i dono about you but i found that humorous.

if you actually read through this, show me some love and support! i need it...bad...

since some have wondered, i am an asian male. the silent yet model minority...the ones who continue to struggle the most in america (who the hell has heard of banks with signs that say "chinese spoken here" whereas they're EVERYWHERE for spanish speakers while i refuse to believe that african americans are "minorities" anymore if you got young white kids bobbin their heads to hip hop) yet have nothing but hills to climb in every way imaginable. that, and my women keep going for people of other races! telling you, it's a sad, lonely life. not racist, not bitter (actually, maybe a little), just this way whenever it comes to affirmative action with school admissions. oh hi, you're a minority? oh wait...you're asian! good luck competing with everyone else without any special perks! then at the end of the day, we'll treat you as a minority again! blah

taking too much space to the right so i'll post older entries here to "balance" things out:

2/17: i can't friggin believe i got waitlisted by howard. guess a historically black college really tries hard to stay that way...

2:19: dang...first rejection...damn you bill gates! let me get some of that money!

2/22: wow...what a crappy day. ended up with 2 waiting list letters. think i'd rather just get flat out rejected.

2/23: god damn...i started off all strong with acceptance letters coming by the dozens and the past few days have been a huge drought. found out that fordham rejected me via their online status checker, and so there goes my application fee...applying to law schools sure does suck.

2/24: received my fordham rejection in the mail (originally found out i was "denied" by going on their status checker). also received a scholarship from syracuse for 8k a year, but considering that they're private and easily more expensive than rutgers, i highly doubt i'd take the offer.

2/25: add another rejection to the list...boulder doesn't want me either! i need a hug.

2/26: baylor university decides that they, too, don't need a student of my abilities. rejection after rejection...i miss how my mailbox was only 2 weeks ago...

2/28: emory university sent me a letter resembling a breakup letter while uc hastings straight up said "you are dumb...why'd you apply here". i also received a letter from loyola LA that i thought should've been a rejection letter but instead, it was just a letter indicating i should apply for financial aid. what a fakeout (in a good way). did, however, receive admission from new york law school but that's practically worthless to me as i doubt i'd choose that place over any of my previous acceptances. must reemphasize how much i hate law school admissions. hear me roar *meow* also, what else sucks is that northwestern, who i totally forgot that i had applied to, sent me some email saying there was a problem with my lsac report. i applied over a month ago and it turns out they never requested it! ugh...damn these people...damn them all

3/2: received a small white envelope from duke saying thanks but no thanks. btw, duke sucks.

3/3: received rejection letters from both boston college and wake forest. both were in their little dinky envelopes that just scream out rejection. figured i wouldn't get into boston college but thought i had a legitimate shot at wake...kinda bums me out. however, i did find a nice big envelope from san diego that turned out to be...

wtf, it was another rejection. call it a breakup letter that still wants to be friends, claiming i'm not good enough but she'll settle for somethin a little less. they offered me instead a spot in their evening program. so now i have 3 options...i can either take it now and transfer later, take it now and be placed on a waiting list for the fulltime program, or just ask to be placed on the fulltime waiting list. sucks too cuz i really wanted to go to somewhere warm and there is no way in hell i'll get into a UC. ah well...broken dreams. you know how it is...can't be friends when you break up, it doesn't work that way.

3/4: slow day in terms of mail...received nothing other than some unsolicited crap. did however receive an email from pittsburgh who decided, like seemingly everyone else, PUT ME ON THEIR DAMN WAITLIST. ugh...it's as though these schools derive pleasure from allowing people to not know their futures. it did say i was "competitive" (yea right) and that 10-25 percent of the waitlist get accepted. i predict that i will fall in the other 75-90 percent who get shafted. just watch...

3/5: surprise surprise...gtown is "unable to approve my application". who the hell wants your approval...i just want a damn spot in your 1L class. i hope you sink into the potomac.

3/7: this entry's gonna be a huuuuge gripe about how law school admissions is causing unnecessary stress. but first...let me announce that yes, i have received yet ANOTHER rejection letter, this time from the lovely folks at notre dame. didn't expect to get in and after reading about them on princeton review, not very enthusiastic about a school that prefers the majorities instead of supporting minorities. with that said...i hope each member of the adcomm gets alcohol poisoning on saint patties day. moving on...it has been brought to my attention by mwitterone that utah has gone through a massive update on their website. sounds bad, as most of the people who have updated in the last few days were ALL rejections. so...i'm assuming that i am just another statistic instead of being someone special. sucks too cuz i really wanted to go there...great skiing and it's nice to go back to where i lived a good portion of my life. too bad that seems ever so unlikely now. and no, i'm not mormon. moving on to the final topic would be why loyola LA sucks. these people keep sending me little envelopes that would make anyone assume that they're rejection letters, yet each time it's something stupid like "apply for financial aid" or "minority day is coming up". well...today i again received one of these dreadful thin envelopes, which instead had information required to check my status online. checking on this...i find that they processed my application only this past wednesday AND are missing stuff still. wtf man...no other school but them and i thought i was doing well with everything considering all the crap they've sent me. so yes...this is my gripe of the day...expecting utah's rejection any day now (and then watch me get put on their waiting list...those bastards!).

3/7 (part 2): speak of the devil...couple hours after writing this whole spiel about how utah's gonna reject me, i get a phone call from the dean of admissions saying that i'm in! eat that notre dame! them mormons got more love for me than you catholics (sorry if you belong to any of these religious sects...meant no disrespect)!

3/9: boring 2 days...yesterday i had nothing. you'd think with all the schools i've applied to, i'd get somethin each day but noooo. today i received an acceptance from pennstate. i don't know why i applied there...figured i'd go watch some football but AFTER applying, found out it was at some other campus. that, and from what i hear, they're closing down the law school to open a new one at university park soon. that's crap...and no money from them too. they gotta be outta their little nittany minds.

3/10: big day on the rejection front. UF was "not able to act affirmatively"...which is the oddest way i've been rejected so far. fancy word for gtown's equivalent of approvable. rutgers-newark, on the other hand, delivered a much harsher statement, rubbing it in that "all decisions are final and there is no appeal." to me, this is just odd, considering the other rutgers took like, a week to say we want you, whereas these guys took their sweet ass time and still said no. just seems odd to get an acceptance and a rejection from essentially the same school. on a side note, i got an acceptance from baltimore (not gonna take it), along with a scholarship offer from brooklyn for 8.5k, which just seems too damn little...

Additional Information

day by day play by play

3/12: i would like to raise my middle finger up for UCLA, but for maryland, i'll give them somethin extra, by relieving that smirking turtle of it's skin to be made into a charming handbag. and now you're out of the ncaa tourney...ha!

3/16: bah to george mason. i get a 4.0 there goin to summer school and they refuse to even put me on a waiting list. they too must have no respect for their undergrad division.

3/17: friggin a...another goddamn waitlist. don't these schools realize that it's already taken them forever to make a decision?! wisconsin has joined the ranks of the other schools who choose to "badger" me so....blaaaaaah. it does please me that such a highly ranked school didn't just decide to reject me though. and don't go thinkin i forgot notre dame...tonite's the nite you all get piss drunk and never wake up.

3/18: *sigh* my name has been put on yet another waiting list, this time from the folks at cardozo. first a string of acceptances, then rejections, now a small streak of waiting lists...here's hoping that i restart the cycle and get more acceptances. on a side note, yale is playing a sick joke on me or something, sending me an email saying my application is still under consideration. who the hell are they trying to kid?! admissions suck.

3/19: streak continues...now waitlisted by seton hall. seton hall?! argh matey...damn you stupid pirates...plundered my app fee to gimme this crap of a letter. maaan.

3/21: the streak is going in the wrong direction! ugh...two rejection letters today...michigan and W&L. damnit...damn damn damn.

3/22: the email, the email...wut wut, the email. no mail today but i did receive an email from IUPUI about a "non-resident" scholarship for 5k a year. needless to say, i think it's crap...but they're still showin me love. funny too cuz it's like they reward me for not living in indiana like it's a good thing. i dono, i found it funny. this was followed by an email from every other school i got accepted to, clogging my inbox with a massive influx of spam asking me to visit. only one is worth mentioning though. penn state offered to reimburse me up to $200 to check them out. anythin to do up in carlisle? if so, i might just go to play around. otherwise...slow ass day today...

3/23: fuck. fuck fuck fuck. rejection from ohio state, and then a "hold" from case western. add the fact that i was waitlisted at cincinnati a while ago and it's clear to see that that damn state just hates me...

3/25: yesterday was rejected by GW and W&M. GW was expected...but i figured that having 2 relatives graduate from W&M would help out somewhat. NOPE. oh well...rejection mania continues to the next day, where i received a letter of rejection from both UC davis and UIUC. the illinois one was interesting though, and the most unique one i've seen thus far. said they encouraged me to attempt to transfer and if i did get in, they'd give me a small stipend to pay for books and crap. guess my gpa scared them off or something. also got waitlisted from st johns, which was extremely shocking to me. is there somethin special about this school that i just don't know about? bleh...now it's a string of like 5 rejections per waitlist with no acceptances in sight. such crap.

3/28: wow...fuck me.

3/29: nooooo...now my own state's turned on me as well. damn you cavaliers.

3/30: yay, a rejection from northwestern. looks like the top schools are finally getting underway with sending me mountains of rejections. took them damn long...one look at my file should be enough to toss it in the rejection bin but they decided to wait this long. cruel ass mofos.

4/1: call me mr. rejection. on a side note...i shall be visiting rutgers this weekend. good times.

4/2: and let the rejection letters continue. nyu and chicago FINALLY stated the obvious, but just when i was assuming that all letters would be rejections from here on out, i get this letter from richmond putting me on some priority wait list. thus, it's marked as "deferred". letter was kinda thick though...so i was disappointed. who writes 2 pages just to say that we have you on hold...damn. and then, to make my day more colorful, i get a nice letter from arizona state, accepting me. letter was dated the 31st...man they know how to keep their promises of "informing you by april 1st". nothin special though...they said all that other good stuff would come in another package. so today i went to rutgers for dean's day. shitty ass day outside with a ton of rain but overall...i like the school. i just can't believe that camden's such a piece of trash. i thought DC had its slums but camden's just a landfill. guess time will only tell where i go...making a decision is impossible now. on a somber note, pope john paul II, you will be missed...may you rest in peace.

4/12: this one's for you asnetlenov! been meaning to update but all it would've been was constant bitching...so let the bitching begin! stupid ass schools with their stupid ass rejection letters. yale sure as hell took their sweet ass time...same with vanderbilt. but i did get a few interesting waitlist offers. i was a "volunteer" on tennessee's waitlist and surprisingly, byu offered me a spot on the waitlist as well. i honestly think it's one of those complimentary things though...where they know you suck but they just don't wanna crush your spirits. all the schools i have left are almost guaranteed rejections, as the two loyolas have incomplete applications. they let me know that they were missing stuff almost 2 months after i submitted it so screw that, i'm done with apps. harvard doesn't even require an explanation. i am, however, looking forward to the georgia schools. those fools keep sippin their sweet tea without flippin through my application. no southern hospitality. oh, and i was somewhat shocked my catholics refusal to even offer me a spot on the waitlist. i hoped that the holy father would rest in peace! that should count for at least something...and on a side note, i got a very VERY interesting letter from the folks at "the national dean's list". for one, i'm not even in school, and second, just LOOK at my gpa. yet for some reason, to quote them, i have received a nomination that "2,500 of our nation's finest colleges and universities use...as a special award to honor their best students." best student?! if that was the case...i wouldn't be struggling to crack into the top 20 law schools. such crap...now i know they're a scam. that's my tidbit of the day...now back to tryin to figure out where the hell i'm goin for school...

4/14: and then there were 11. rejection from the condom boys out west, and yet another waitlist offer from arizona. still hoping that a miracle occurs. and fuck...deadline for rutgers is tomorrow...to go or not to go?! i hate how schools have all these different deadlines and to those that are taking their sweet ass times, shame on you. i didn't drop 80 bucks for you to sit on your asses all day long. but yes...narrowed down my current choices to utah, rutgers, and arizona state. only visited rutgers though so i can't choose. if anyone visited any of those other schools...do tell about your experience. thaaaaaaanks.

4/18: i think all these other schools just lost my application...either that or they (especially you harvard!) just like torturing poor souls like me into thinking i still have a shot. maaaan...i need some mail...soon.

4/19: another day, another...NOTHING! wtf...where's my friggin mail. at least drop me a line...send me somethin like "we're still looking over your application"...ANYTHING. ugh...this blows. only word all day i got was that i managed to get off the waitlist for rutgers for their summer program. with that said...that again puts it up top as i was heavily considering arizona state for a while. damn these schools...they keep confusing me. now if arizona or utah drops some money my way...i'll be back at square one. and where you at georgia?! much like ray charles, i got georgia on my mind. i hope that acceptance "comes as sweet and clear as moonlight through the pines." mofrick. and yay to the new pope...awfully old...but i'm sure he feels years younger WITHOUT ALL THIS WAITING! bah to all you stupid schools.

4/20: yay...mail, albeit bad news, but yay, mail.

4/21: no surprise...but a rejection from loyola chicago. kinda got lazy and didn't finish the application after they informed me of somethin missing. oh well.

4/23: damnit...only 7 more to go...hopefully 7 truly is heaven.

4/25: well...i guess all the remaining schools are bound to be rejections. shocking to get rejected by gsu in my opinion, as is with houston. i personally thought i had a legitimate shot but apparently that's far from the case in their eyes. much like garfield...I HATE MONDAYS. here's to a fat tuesday.

4/29: all hope is finally lost...

5/3: now to decide where the hell i'm going...at least cinco de mayo's in 2 days! time to drink like a fish!

5/4: just when i thought that utah was gonna get struck off my list, they offer me a scholarship. damn adcomms...just keep makin decisions harder to make.

5/6: got a weekend to decide if i wanna go to richmond...so much pressure!

5/28: been a while since i been back on this...but yes, this past week has been interesting. wisconsin jabbed a dagger into the heart saying they had no spots (shame too...i was hoping not to have to take a bar exam) but my mood was slightly elevated by invitations for acceptances to both FSU and howard (yay, black school wants the little asian boy). i still can't decide where to go though...

6/27: harvard finally gave me the boot...sure took their sweet time...

Hey Squirt,
did you really send your application out jan. 18th and heard back that quickly from fordham. i sent my app. in the beg. of jan. and haven't heard anything from them yet!
good luck with everything.... star
Holy something! Wednesday, December 31st, 1969 at 7:00 pm
You applied to 74 schools! Why man? The effort you put in must have been amazing, as well as the cost ($3700 assuming $50 bucks per school). You should end up with a fistful of acceptances from all that. Good luck. – LordofLight
ha Wednesday, December 31st, 1969 at 7:00 pm
thanks for the kind words (i think?). applying to all those schools was quite a task in itself...but i didn't really go through with that much effort in molding each essay to each school's liking. it was definitely up there in terms of cost though...figure who knows...law school admissions seems like a crapshoot...might as well try and see if somehow or another i can get in somewhere higher ranked. thus far it hasn't worked that way... squirt
Hillarious Wednesday, December 31st, 1969 at 7:00 pm
Your profile made my day. You are hillarious. You should create a blog...I would pay to read it. Good luck in law school. stevesv
rutgers camden? Wednesday, December 31st, 1969 at 7:00 pm
how seriously are you considering rutgers camden? i am excited about your san diego acceptance. its such a great city... ahhh! i want to live there! good luck with the rest of your apps. kitakatt
reponse Wednesday, December 31st, 1969 at 7:00 pm
stevesv - glad you enjoyed the profile...i kind of NEED to spice things up cuz this wait for responses is killing me.

kitakatt - i'm actually strongly considering rutgers since it IS a state school, and with the money...it looks pretty good. definitely tryin to leave law school with as little debt as possible squirt
Pitt WL Wednesday, December 31st, 1969 at 7:00 pm
I'm also a "minority with no minority benefits" and just got WL'd at Pitt too. Best of luck to you! cubby25
A breath of fresh air.... Wednesday, December 31st, 1969 at 7:00 pm
very much needed. I'm feeling 'choked' with all this waiting and your profile is very HONEST. Nice to come across something like that here. I have to applaud you for your intense efforts with the applications. Good Luck to you!! JackieOMarty

what does being a minority with no minority benefits mean? love91
minority w. no mb Wednesday, December 31st, 1969 at 7:00 pm
I didn't rank my schools b/c I don't really have a preference, but I'm starting to think American is where I really want to go. If faced with AU and a pretty good top tier, I don't know what I'll do though.

Where are you at in DC? I spent quite a bit of time there myself. Gave you my e-mail, but I don't check it that often, so let me know if you send me a msg. cubby25
What about you? Wednesday, December 31st, 1969 at 7:00 pm
Which school do you have your eye on? I think we both need to hear back from a lot more schools before we can start to make some serious decisions. cubby25
minority w/o benefits Wednesday, December 31st, 1969 at 7:00 pm
love 91 - i'm asian...kinda expanded further on it in the profile.

jackieomarty - good to know someone appreciates my "hard work" in applying...though definitely should've applied myself earlier and STUDIED instead.

cubby25 - as of now i wanna go to brooklyn but too expensive...rutgers has grown increasingly appealing but yea...with all that money blown on app fees, i gotta hear back from everyone before my decision. squirt

Hey Squrit,
Yea i'm not gonna let Chicago ruin my bday...it was a given I wouldn't get in w/ my numbers anyways....I just think it's funny how long it took to hear from them- today of all days. Now if I get rejected from any other schools today, I might give up on law altogether- what a heartless profession. star

Squirt - Your profile has made my day. Thank you for the laugh. For this very reason I hope you don't get a rejection from Utah! That is where I'll be, this year or next, and you seem great.

If Utah doesn't work out, I'm guessing you'll have PLENTY of other choices.

Good luck!

I am trying to see just how many consecutive messages I can leave you. I'm not stalking you, I promise.

Congrats again on Utah!! I just got your message. I'm very happy for you!

Utah is definitely my #1 choice. I live in Salt Lake City and love it here. Utah is a great law school with a diverse student body. I've heard only good things from those I know who have attended the U. Unfortunately, I may need to defer a year. But I will end up there eventually!

Maybe I will see you there, either this year or next.

Congrats again!

re: i feel ya Wednesday, December 31st, 1969 at 7:00 pm
Hi.. fellow asian.. I am a female asian ... in the same boat as ya.. i havent taken my lsat.. but I do have alow gpa.. had to take time off from school for two years and went back... my last year and half at UCI was pretty good.. getting 3.9 gpa..but cumulative gpa is only 2.94 or so because of lots of problems in my life.. i really should be a minority with minority benefits... right before I went to college.. my parent store burned down by the LA riots... then my bilogical died in my 3 rd year.. I had to work 30 hours a week all thruout college just to support myself thru school.. plus had to help out my parents with legal issues and financial issues... on top of that.. the time i took time off from school to help my parents out.. i helped them with business and saved up money to support them... they invest 30K into a business proposition and couple of weeks later.. the supposedly friend of the family declared bankruptcy.. we were in the hole again... yeah.. bitter stories that makes me cringe at seeing URM's with 2.7's and 150 LSATs get into top 50 schools... I feel ya.. i havent taken my lsat but I am gonna study my ass off this summer... polan on taking it in october 2005... i hope ur essay was kick ass... cuz i plan on making my personal statement the best part of my app. I thik i deserve that much..well good luck to ya.. sorry for venting my anger... ur comments got me thinking.... good luck! – tcho

that's why affirmative action should go the way of dinosaurs and instead, have something based around income brackets. squirt
some thoughts Wednesday, December 31st, 1969 at 7:00 pm
I really empathize with you; I've also had a rough application cycle. Having been through the cycle twice - yeah, twice because I wasn't pleased with the results the first time around - I can understand your frustrations with affirmative action. Some of my friends with similar numbers, but are minorities with benefits, got into Yale, Stanford, and Columbia. Me? I'm choosing between Notre Dame and Brooklyn (w/$15K in the bag). Go figure. And even now I can't decide between the two. Ugh.

In any case, given your results, I'd say Brooklyn's an excellent option! I personally know several associates at "BigLaw" firms in NY and they are trying to get me to choose Brooklyn over ND! Apparently, Brooklyn places better there. I don't know if NY is your scene, and whether it's where you want to work But if it is, Brooklyn's great! Congratulations! Remember, if you work at firms for even just a few years after graduation, you'll quickly pay off the loans you would have to take out. So, in other words, don't let money be the primary factor. Easier said than done, perhaps. Good luck! :) – LawSchoolLimbo
one other thing Wednesday, December 31st, 1969 at 7:00 pm
Don't despair. I realize that you have a lot of rejections on your table. But they're not reflections of how you are as a person or how you will be as an attorney. First of all, you applied relatively late in the application cycle. It makes a big difference in the application results. Additionally, even you had noted that you could have worked harder in college. Well, you have a second chance at redemption: law school!

Lastly, I'd like to add that if you're not completely happy with your results, take the year off and reapply next year. You can apply to fewer schools (more target schools and a few reach here and there) so that you can personalize each application. Additionally, you'll have the opportunity to send in the apps earlier.

Good luck! – LawSchoolLimbo

Rejected from Hastings? Wednesday, December 31st, 1969 at 7:00 pm
while uc hastings straight up said "you are dumb...why'd you apply here"

haha... is that really what they said? Sheesh...

Did you apply under LEOP? I'm just curious b/c I've seen that they allow asians to be considered "disadvantaged" if you can write an essay about it... and judging from your profile, you have a lot of passion about being a minority with no benefits... :D

From one asian law applicant to another, good luck on the rest of your apps! :) And have fun riding out the rest of the decisions...

about utah Wednesday, December 31st, 1969 at 7:00 pm
I had a friend go to Utah. She's Hispanic and Utah needs diversity badly so they her a full ride. She said the students were awful to her. Well it's a predominately white, conservative Mormon school. But she said the most of the professors and adminstration were nice to her. She got a free ride for law school. But she packed everything up and got the hell out of Utah right after the ceremony. Good luke if you go to Utah.
Haha Wednesday, December 31st, 1969 at 7:00 pm
By far the best entry I've seen on LSN.

Goodluck on the rest of your apps, keep at it brotha.

Rutgers Camden is a good school with a really nice avg. starting salary if you go private after graduation. – MSUDuster
Utah Wednesday, December 31st, 1969 at 7:00 pm
That surprises me about the poor treatment of the hispanic girl mentioned a couple posts above. That is too bad. The University of Utah itself is actually not predominantly Mormon and is thought of (especially by Mormons) as quite liberal. In fact Utah has been accused of being anti-Mormon, which they are definitely not.
Recovery from laziness Wednesday, December 31st, 1969 at 7:00 pm
I applaud the lazy college experience. I spent 5.5 years from start to finish in college (though I took a semester off and was suspended for a year) and loved every minute of it. Good to see that you are receiving some nice acceptances. You do realize that you applied to 40% of all law schools in this country, which is impressive. Best of luck and don't stop spreading the vitriol to the schools that reject you. ASNetlenov
Rutgers Wednesday, December 31st, 1969 at 7:00 pm
Hey,
I live only 35 minutes from the Camden campus and the train is like 2 minutes from my house so it is very easy for me. Newark is abut an hour and a half from me before you facotr in traffic. Also I have no desire to work in NY I hope to stay local to South Jersey and Camden has a great local reputation. Where in DC do you Live? I used to me a metro transit cop. robocop1840

Sorry to see that your streak is doing in the non-favorable direction. Look on the brightside...you still have A LOT of apps pending. That's gotta be kind of good right? I'm as surprised as you are that Yale is just sitting on your app. Maybe they'll let you slip by?

Re: Rejections Wednesday, December 31st, 1969 at 7:00 pm
They are coming soon enough. I am still waiting to hear from the schools that will be less impressed with a good LSAT score. And I can see that you still have a slew of schools from which to hear.

If this takes much longer, I will become the proverbial girl waiting by the phone (mailbox) for a school to call me. asnetlenov

mr. rejection Wednesday, December 31st, 1969 at 7:00 pm
i was glad to hear that the top schools are sending out rejections finally. for a good laugh, view my numbers and then look and see what schools i applied to.
i think i am worse off than you -- i'm half-asian and half-honky. i put "other" on all my apps, but i think that the mystique that the "other" category once was has long worn off. i considered putting "latino," "native american" or "pacific rim" since i have been confused for all of those, but i decided that the days of dna testing being part of the law school admissions process or the bar (if i EVER get that far, ha) might not be too far off. better to come clean about my quasi-minority status with neither minority nor majority benefits! – midori

yo Wednesday, December 31st, 1969 at 7:00 pm
just wanted to say hi squirt. youve written so much, i cant bring myself to skim through it to determine whats new. by this time in the app process, i think we all should be feeling good about having gotten into some schools, and looking at where we've been accepted, and start seriously considering where to put down deposits. instead of wondering if im good enough, now im focusing on if my "yes" schools are going to give me what i want. so out of your "yes" schools - is Utah #1? And isnt the Villanova acceptance a great oen?! kitakatt

Just had to say, your entries above have re-humanized this whole process. I was beginning to think that the law school application process sucked the life out of every person who dared attempt it, and you have quite wonderfully changed that opinion. Best wishes for success in your quest! (I think you may be the only person I'm not jealous of on this whole site.)

Good to have you back Wednesday, December 31st, 1969 at 7:00 pm
It looks like this process is coming to a close for you finally. How are you going to choose at this point?

Mason was disappointing. They showcased the PT students as much as the FT students, which did not impress me because it gave the impression that there are two kinds of Mason grads. It looks like I am going to Wash U. I really liked the school, so I'm off to the Midwest in August. Maybe I can take my winter break in Delaware, I mean, Delaware. ASNetlenov

Squirt, this is the first time that I've come across your post, and can I just say, you give me hope! I didn't study during school and barely studied for the LSAT, so my scores reflect that. I think you need an intervention regarding the mail. Fear not, I am sure Harvard is just trying to figure out how much money they should offer you!

I will be attending WUSTL unless W&M takes me from the waiting list, which I hope does not happen.

Do you even care about the remaining schools? Just wondering because you applied to, well, all of them. ASNetlenov
ASU Wednesday, December 31st, 1969 at 7:00 pm
First, I don't have a profile setup here so that's why you prolly couldn't find me.

Second, she liked ASU because she's from MI (like me) and absolutely loved the weather, the campus, and the students/profs she met. She said she felt like she would love to spend 3 years at ASU. I don't know much about their placement rate, but I'm assuming it must be decent. – MSUDuster
Still considering Rutgers? Wednesday, December 31st, 1969 at 7:00 pm
Hi Squirt,

Last time I tried to post a message to you a couple days ago, my computer froze in the middle of it, I was typing so much. LMAO!!!

Sorry about Loyola. I was waitlisted there. They supposedly have the best family law program in Chicago, but...

As far as Rutgers, I was accepted there, too, but I just can't see myself going because of the dangers. They only offered me $3K anyway, and that's not very much at all. As a young female, I was victimized several times and I'm quite scared of the thought of living or going to school somewhere where I can't feel safe. Have you been to the 1L discussion board of theirs and actually read it? There's a lot of people saying they're going to live in the Victor. I wonder if they're going to carpool or something.

Out of curiosity, I know you're busy, but how many of the schools you've been accepted to have you visited? Have you seen Rutgers? I'd like to go, but I don't have much finances. I e-mailed them about hotels and discount places to stay at, but I haven't heard back yet.

It's too bad you got rejected from IU Bloomington. That's my top choice, but seeing as no one with my LSAT average (150) has even gotten in there, the best I can hope for is a waitlist.

So....one last thing I've been meaning to ask...which minorities do you consider have the benefits and which don't? I'm portuguese, just so you know. – Rachelle
Rutgers Visit Wednesday, December 31st, 1969 at 7:00 pm
Well, I guess I must have skipped the fact that you already visited there. Did Rutgers agree to reimburse you at all? What hotel did you stay at? Or did you have friends who already go there that let you stay with them? Like I said, I'd like to visit, maybe I would change my mind about the school if I did, but...no such luck yet. – Rachelle
wow Wednesday, December 31st, 1969 at 7:00 pm
i just read your entire profile in one sitting, and you're hilarious.

man, and i thought i was bad for applying to 23 schools! but i pretty much had the same logic...my numbers are crappier than yours so i applied to a bunch of places just praying i'd get in somewhere. good luck to you. sixminsped
All hope is lost? Wednesday, December 31st, 1969 at 7:00 pm
Why? What happened? I have been following your progress. Gosh what is going on? I am an unfortunate Asian female :-( nah, not really, only bad for school admissions, I hope. No letters for me for a month now. Today is Apr 30th. The US postal system must be to blame, I wish.... Thanks for putting this process into prospective. Good luck! I need a ton of luck, too. I am trying to get into SMU, still nothing yet. – cybergirl

Grad School? Wednesday, December 31st, 1969 at 7:00 pm
Geez with 74 schools and the effort of all those applications adn close to $4000 in applicaitions and postage you should've gone to grad school for a year. I don't get a degree in Eduation for a year and have a 4.0 master's degree while applying to all those schools. It would minimize your GPA. Just a suggestion. Sorry about being an asian male with a below 3.0 GPA I know that must be really tough. I am an Finanical Economics major (just graduated) and ALL my asian friends were really bright. But I could hang eventhough I was a brother. 74 schools WOW! Let me know what you think. uvablackguy05
