Extra Curricular Information

My numbers are now the real deal as my cycle is basically done.

Here are my Soft Factors in no particular order.

I worked full time in undergrad.
My degree is in a hard science and I have an MS and a PhD from UPenn
I finished my PhD 2yrs ahead of schedule.
I speak fluent Serbian/Croatian.
I lived in Post war Yugoslavia (~2yrs)
Worked as a technology manager
I've played Guitar (Jazz) for 20yrs and payed for undergrad playing in a jazz quartet. I also play a half dozen other instruments, most with decent proficiency.
I've also taught at the college and graduate level.

My list is a bit random but I'm part of a two body move. My wife will out earn me by a long ways when we are done so I don't mind not going T14 if it comes to that. I likely won't apply to all of these schools. My list will change as my wife's list narrows.

I'll prognosticate my cycle:

Duke- Accept
UCLA- Accept
Boalt- WL/denied
Stanford- Late cycle Reject (my softs make this a tough one)
Penn - Accept
Columbia - Accept
NYU - Accept
Harvard - Deferred/denied
UMinn - Accept
11/2 UMinn got a call from Associate Dean Howland with offer + 45k scholarship
11/13- Big packet from UMich
11/20- Email telling me I'm in at Berkeley which given my GPA is a bit surprising
12-08 - Got the purple envelope from NYU and My wife got into her top choice program (columbia) so it looks like I'll be heading to NYC in the fall.
12-15-07 Got a big envelope from UPenn
1-25-08 Came home from vail to find Columbia acceptance and a Dean's scholarship offer from UMich (ie 20k/yr), which hurts because I would love to live in AA not to mention take the money but it looks like we are going to NYC.
1-31-08 The W just got an interview at Penn, so things may get interesting!!
2-19-08 Apparently I'm a semi-finalist for the IP scholars scholarship at NYU.
3-14-08 finalist email from NYU for IP scholarship
4-22-08 NYU offered a 20/20/10 IP scholarship
4-24-08 Columbia which originally offered $0 gave me 12-12-6 which is enough to sway me based on my living/commuting situation.

I'm very happy everytime I see someone apply simultaneously with their SO and it ending successfully. I hope my fiance and I can do the same. By the way i saw an LSD post, and I'm wondering why you're set on Columbia over NYU? Or do you just want NYC choices?
