Additional info & updates

Good luck to everyone applying!

11-25: My financial aid package for W&M includes a scholarship ($3,000/year), stipend ($4,000/year), and waiver of out-of-state tuition. I was surprised (and excited!) by how fast I heard from the school, considering I received an email informing me I wouldn't hear anything until March. The scholarship info came with the acceptance letter.

12-1: E-mail received from Baylor with acceptance and full scholarship offer.

12-17: Full scholarship from Iowa, with a research assistant component in the second and third years. Scholarship info came a little over a week after acceptance letter.

12-22: $75,000 scholarship from Illinois, which came with the acceptance letter. Acceptance and full scholarship plus $10,000/year living stipend from Valparaiso.

1-10: Nomination for full tuition scholarship at St. Louis; have to submit an essay to receive further consideration. (I plan to withdraw).

1-12: Full nonresident tuition scholarship from Indiana University- Bloomington.

1-28: Email from Wake Forest to let me know that I received a full tuition scholarship.

2-1: Named an Opperman Scholar at Drake-- full tuition plus $10,000/year stipend.

Inquired at Marquette about scholarships and was told that the process of awarding scholarships would likely begin early February, and would continue through mid-April.

2-16: Full-tuition scholarship from Marquette.

3-20: Named a Wisconsin Idea Scholar, with a $10,000/year scholarship.

Hey there, congrats on Marquette! When did you get your notice? Best of luck this cycle! We applied to many of the same schools so keep me posted and I'll do the same!

Nothing yet. I got the official acceptance stuff yesterday with information regarding seat deposit and what not. From what I could gather from previous cycles, they send out scholarship information in the early January.

thanks

Congrats on everything so far. How come you only applied to one bubble school? You have legit chances at all T14s outside of the top 5.

I'm sorry that you are having such bad luck! J/K obviously! Congrats so far and here's to the sweep!

That full ride is tough to pass up. Sort of throws a dagger in things....a good dagger, though. Congrats!

Congrats!

Congratulations on all your acceptances! Which school is your top choice? Which one are you leaning towards?

they are all good schools, just make sure that you're happy with it. A lot of the schools you were accepted to are high up in the rankings, so I'm a bit surprised you liked Valparaiso so much. Good luck with everything.

Top choice

my top choice is UCLA

:)

I'm only applying at four: Minnesota, Iowa, Wisconsin and Michigan. If I got in to Michigan, I would attend but I'm having serious doubts given my numbers. I'm hesitant to even apply (I still haven't). In-State tuition + Scholarship from Minnesota is looking pretty good right now. Did you do your UG at Marquette?

Valparaiso
Monday, November 26 2007 at 07:00 PM

I thought Valparaiso was the top choice? Which is your new top choice?

Still no word? Sucks waiting!

congrats

glad to see you have choices. Marquette is a good school. Do you know what kind of law you want to practice?

Nope
Thursday, April 26 2007 at 08:00 PM

No word from UW on scholarships yet. Did I need to fill out those scholarship forms? If so, then I won't be getting anything from them, which is fine... Marquette's offer seemed nice, didn't list any minimum grades or anything of that nature. I'm sure if that's where you end up you'll love it. The campus is so nice!

Iowa
Thursday, April 26 2007 at 08:00 PM

Oh yeah...would you really turn down a full ride at Iowa? That's still fairly close to most of WI, plus it's a great school!

Opperman
Wednesday, December 06 2006 at 07:00 PM

Did you hear about being named an Opperman scholar after the initial acceptance mailing or was it with that?

Drake
Wednesday, December 06 2006 at 07:00 PM

Yeah, I live in Iowa so Drake is more of a realistic possibility for me. Did you send in the separate scholarship form with your application? I didn't even know there was one until I found it on the website, although the info on it was pretty standard. I'm guessing I won't be offered an Opperman anyways, considering the scholarship I was offered along with my admittance package was even't up to what they could have offered, but if they did offer me one I think I'd have to go there.
