I did not apply for the summer institute. I am graduating in the summer from my undergrad and won't be able to attend if offered. Good luck to you on your app to SLU. How do you like living in SLU?
From what I've heard/been told that it helps but not really that much. A grad degree is a strong "soft" factor and won't tie into your GPA at all. It might help to say in your PS about how and why your GPA has improved. You have a lot of soft factors working for you, you should be in good shape. Just make sure your LOR are good. I do know at this point if I don't do well enough on my LSAT I am applying to PhD programs because they care more about your Grad GPA. So you may want to keep that in mind. Good luck with your cycle!
Just work hard in studying for your LSAT. You'll end up where you want to be.
With your GPA and grad degree, if you can pull off even a 154 you should get in eh? Look at lsac's page and pull up the gpa/lsat spread for SLU.
I will likely be staying on the east coast, but I like SLU. :) Good luck!!!!
Hey! Good luck with SLU. I'm applying there as well. We have a few schools in common.
SLU seems to be taking their time this year. I have not heard anything. I looked at last years stats and they already had a lot of acceptances at this point. The waiting game continues. Good Luck.
Hey! I just received my acceptance to SLU today! I have my fingers crossed for you!!!!
I'm still waiting to hear from UW-Madison. I love Madison and paying in state tuition there would be nice. I'm happy I got in at SLU, but I was a little unhappy with how the admission process there worked. Until I got my acceptance today, I didn't get a single email, letter, or phone call saying that they had received my application or that it was complete. I had to call to make sure they had everything. Nonetheless, I really like St. Louis and SLU seems like a great place. If I don't get in at UW, there is a chance I'll end up there. But, if I do get in at UW, I'll make sure and withdraw my application ASAP. Good luck to you!
I really am not sure which school I am leaning towards (of my acceptances so far). If I do end up in the midwest, it would probably be at Mizzou though. I feel like it would give me a better opportunity to choose where I work (KC vs. StL), and I used to live in KC. Also, I would get in-state tuition after the first year. But right now that is pretty much just speculation though, as I really would like to visit the campuses first, and also see if any school gives me any scholarship money.
Congrats! Hang in for SLU. It will come!
I called last week and was told that I was complete, but was not given any other information. Keep me posted if you hear anything...
I am iffy on it, waiting for scholarship information to come in. But I will probably send a withdrawal letter in within the next week or so.
You're welcome! Good luck, I'm sure you'll get in!
they said i should hear back from them next week...i'm really hoping for an acceptance, but i wouldn't be unhappy having to choose between SLU, Loyola, or Marquette. have you heard from SLU? are you going to hear soon? i'm pulling for ya!
Indeed, Also, I am part-time so that I can use my master's degree I just got and teach either high school or undergrad classes during the day, so that helps since my LSAT's were just not earth-shattering. Luckily my UGPA does suck but I am graduating with 'highest distinction' with my master's so hopefully that rising trend thing could help lubricate the possibilities... I have family who just moved there for the first time and I have never been there so if SLU says 'yes' I am there as well. Its your home I presume? Good luck and while SIU is not a perfect parallel indicator, the scholarship + admissions should equate an SLU admissions... Good luck and keep me posted.
So far my top choices are UF and Case Western. I'm not leaning towards SLU too much, just because I haven't received any scholarship money. Good luck to you and hopefully you will get in! It seems like you should considering we have almost the same statistics (my GPA is now updated). I will try to help your cause and withdraw my acceptance if I get into one of my top choices soon haha :-)
Hmm...top choice is Temple because it is a great school, close to home and really affordable, BUT I've been getting some money elsewhere so the choice is getting more complicated. Drexel is also really appealing because it has a leading health law professor, Barry Furrow....I'll have to see what the other outcomes are...SLU is also appealing because of it's health law reputation
Nah, my boss took a month of that time getting his LOR together. So it took them maybe 2 weeks tops, and the delay was b/c it was around the holidays, i think. I think you're in at SLU.. I know a lot of people who go there, and if you plug away at it (like my roommate), you can line up a posh job at the end of your first year. You're in especially good shape if you want to stick around in St. L, from what I can tell. Let me know how it goes, I feel like part of the SLU law family at this point haha.. and keep your eyes open for the free pen they send you when you get in.
I applied to their FT program. I've also spoken to a few of the professors at SLU so I'm hoping that should help me out as well...
really sure yet. I'm really hoping to get into Loyola Marymount or Hastings, but SLU is also up there cuz I've got family in the STL.
I'll strongly consider SLU if I get the 1843 scholarship...if not UW-Madison looks like the top choice thus far. You'll get into SLU for sure with a 158 and a graduate degree. You shouldn't have any problems being a Billiken in the Fall!
I got waitlisted at SLU. I am pretty annoyed as this is my 4th deferral or waitlist out of my top 7 schools. Hopefully you will fair a bit better.
BDeauman, Received a packet today from SLU (with a pen as well) and if it were not for an acceptance from Utah (my local school), SLU would be a serious contender. I am withdrawing, with the hopes that my spot goes to you! I wish you well on this cycle and hope you get in soon. Let me know what happens.
yea I took a peak at that the other day. I appreciate the outlook. I'm going to keep my fingers crossed....let me know how your app goes!
Out of curiosity, what was the breakdown on the UMKC package? Thx.
I'm still waiting to hear from 3 schools and my 2 waitlists for that matter. Of the 3 I've been accepted to, all our definite possibilities, so I haven't made my mind up at all. Good luck at SLU!
I applied to SLU's Summer institute. I am highly considering it. Do you know anything about the program? I wish you the best of luck in this process. Look forward to hear from you BDeauman.
Thanks for the kind words. Congrats to you as well on all of your acceptences! Just out of curiousity, how long did it take UMKC to get back to you on scholarship info?
Just withdrew. Good luck.
summer program starts may 22/26 and goes until mid july. Rather intensive of only 25 students per year and only (according to my letter) 50% make it, but I'm going to inquire to see if those are just scare stats. I am considering it but would prefer to see IUI, John Marshall, or MSU offer me something in full to compare..... beggars cannot be choosers thus far for me.
My acceptance was to the full time program... But I think I will be withdrawing. Too expensive to attend without a scholarship.
Hi B: You wrote me a bit ago about SLU and I thought I would share my acceptance with you. I know it is one of your top choices, can I ask what you like most about it or why it is one of your top choices? I know I was told about it because of its health law reputation and I am now really considering it because I was given a scholarship that definately makes it a possible option. Look forward to hearing from you....
sorry bud, didnt see your note until today..so far I havent decided yet...i am waiting to hear from few schools...but if i dont get in anywhere else than I am def. going to slu...goodluck to u....this waiting game is killing me..
Hey BDeauman, I hope that SLU accepts you. Go Billikens
Hi B: Good luck with SLU.
Congrats on SLU!
CONGRATS!!!
Hey! I went to the SLU ASW last week. It was great. I've narrowed my choices to SLU and Cincy.
Are you going to SLU or are you still undecided? I'm really leaning toward going there, so we'll see what happens

hi, just wondering how you like it at SLU. I was rejected, but intend to re-apply.
St. Louis is home. I wouldn't/couldn't imagine myself anywhere else. Best of luck to you!
