Treasurer of a student organization, play 4 intramural sports, and worked at two different law firms over the past two summers. Have experience working on civil and criminal cases, being a process server, and doing various filing and runner work. Also, am a certified notary public in Ohio. My LSAT was bad, and is definitely the weakest part of my application. I'm definitely a poor standardized test taker.

Additional info & updates

I'm looking to get into sports and entertainment law, hence the California schools. There's just not a ton of schools with these programs, so my applications are a little scattered. If anyone knows any other schools with these programs, please let me know!

Ughh its been a month since I even heard from a school I care about going to (Marquette). Still waiting to hear from my top 5, and its really killing me....AHHH

3/16/09
Today, checked my mail after getting back from Spring Break. Rejected from Loyola, UCLA, Pepperdine and waitlisted at Willamette and Southwestern (How the f*** did I get WL'd by my safety schools, can anyone explain this to me please?). FML

Well I'm still waiting to hear from Oregon, Chapman, and Tulane. But I'm guessing it's gonna be a rejection from Tulane and Oregon and a WL from Chapman, oh well. I'll be paying my deposit to Miami tomorrow and it looks as if I'm Miami-bound. If I somehow get into Tulane, I'll probably go there but I'm happy to be going to nice weather and a good school.

Got rejected from Tulane, expected. I put in my deposit at Miami so I'll be heading there in the fall unless I get accepted to Oregon, which I probably wouldn't even go if I was. So maybe I'll see some people in Aug in Miami!

For southwestern, I sent in the optional two essays they allowed. What happened with them is I was sure they didn't know much about my school (Miami of Ohio) and it being the 17th best business program in the country. In my essay I mentioned that I was graduating cum laude from Miami with a b.s. in marketing from the 17th best business program in the country. A week later, I get a call guaging my interest in the school. I say I want to go there, and they say I'm in. Miami waitlisted me then accepted me 4 days later without me doing a thing. Hope this helps, best of luck with the cycle.

Thanks everyone for the comments! I'm officially going to Miami, hope to see some of you there.

Thank you, congrats on your acceptances also. The scholarship offer from Thomas Jefferson came about 2 weeks after the acceptance in a regular letter size envelope. I am sure you will be receiving one soon yourself! Good luck on the rest of your cycle.

Loyola and safety waitlists

Sorry about the Loyola rejection. I'm still waiting to hear from them, but I'm not getting my hopes up, since we have similar numbers and you were rejected. And as for getting waitlisted by your safeties, I feel your pain. I got waitlisted by Suffolk, my safety that I had a 75% chance of getting into. Such is life, I guess. We are both still waiting to hear from Tulane, so here's to good news for both of us! Good luck with the rest of your cycle!

I will be hopefully visiting there soon to take a look. There's a lot of considerations to take into play. Bar passage, job employment, networking etc...

Congrats on getting into Miami. How come you didn't apply to Case Western? I talked to a lady from the Career Services Dept. and she told me that they have gotten interns into the Browns organization for the past couple of years... and I believe an alumnus is GC for the Indians and then there is IMG. Regardlesss, Miami is a good school so good luck to you.

I think Miami is a great school with some caveats. Had I not gotten into Loyola and Chicago-Kent, I was heading to Miami. The Vice-President of the NFL Management Council is also an alumnus. Plus I believe the LPGA is headquartered in Daytona. With only Florida and Florida State ranked higher, I think there is a good chance of being successful in South Florida. However, I have heard that it is initially hard to get out of South Florida because of the big names elsewhere in states such as California. But a few years at Miami can't be too bad. I would definitely go there over Chapman. The founding of UCI is only going to make it harder to be successful with a degree from there. Good Luck.

Waitlist Question
Sunday, May 10 2009 at 08:00 PM

Did you submit any additional information with your waitlist reply form? If you did, what did you submit? I was waitlisted and was wondering if you had any suggestions as to what to send in to increase my chances of getting picked off the waitlist

Hi there, congrats on Miami. Here's to low LSAT'ers getting in to top 71. Haha. I too was on hold then admitted. I agree with your decision to take Miami over Southwestern. Miami has a lot to offer and unrivalled competition in that region among law schools. See you there!
