Extra Curricular Information

I deleted my softs because they haven't helped me AT ALL this cycle.

If you want to know more, just send me a message.

Additional info & updates

My record: 1 - 8 - 5 (withdrew from the one waitlist though)

Now that my cycle is over, here is what I have learned:
No matter how high of a GPA you may have, it won't mean sh*t if you don't have a decent LSAT score to go along with it. I thought I'd be okay with a high GPA and a not so great LSAT score, but as you can see, that was just not the case. This entire process is very emotionally draining, and nothing is harder than going on a crazy roller coaster ride only to have it end badly.

As for my future, I plan on riding out all four of the waitlists I am still on, and hopefully I can get off of at least one of them. If not, I have two back-up plans: I will be applying to grad schools that have the program that I am interested in that don't require the GRE and I will also be applying for jobs. I am convinced that if law school doesn't work out for me this year, it just wasn't meant to be. I will get to law school eventually, it just may not be as soon as I would like.

I would like to thank everyone who has supported me and said such kind things throughout this entire process. All the support has definitely made this trying time a bit easier.

For everyone who is attending law school this fall, I wish you all the best of luck!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
5/4/09: Rejected at UNC. And with that, my horrific cycle is finally over. Final tally? A dismal 1-8-5. Unless I get off of one of the four waitlists I am on, I will not be attending law school this fall.
5/1/09: Waitlisted at Santa Clara. I kind of expected a waitlist at this point, but was still hoping for an acceptance. Will be riding it out, along with my 3 other waitlists. Now all I'm waiting on is my UNC rejection letter to arrive, and then my cycle will finally be over (minus the waitlists, of course). I'm not thinking that I'm going to get off of any waitlists, what with my oh-so-wonderful LSAT score. I've spent the entire day today looking at jobs, anyways. To be totally honest, I don't even care anymore.
4/23/09: Officially decided to withdraw from IU-I today. I just cannot reason paying just shy of $39,000 a year for a school that I'm not crazy about. Their tuition is more expensive than all three of the schools that I am on waitlists for, and I would much rather go to any of those three schools over IU-I. I'm still waiting on UNC (which I'm not holding my breath for) and Santa Clara (C'MON SANTA CLARA!), but if those don't work out, hopefully I can get off of one of my three waitlists. And if not, well, that's what back-up plans are for.
Thanks for the congrats! Incidentally, Tulane's one of my top choices as well, although Wisconsin's at the very top. Good luck with your apps!
Suffolk
Monday, June 16 2008 at 08:00 PM
Suffolk told me relatively quickly that my app was complete (whereas DePaul never told me) but it took a long time to hear...I'm not really sure why.
Thanks!
Sunday, March 09 2008 at 08:00 PM
Thanks for the good wishes! I've always thought that schools should consider GPA over LSAT, since it's a bit more reflective of your work ethic. Best of luck on your cycle, and I'll add you to my watch list!
Thanks!
GL to you also. It has been a very interesting cycle so far. I am expecting the next two months to be busy!
good luck
we have tulane (my super reach) and UF in common...good luck to you, ill be on the lookout for you during the continued app process!
follow up
Friday, December 12 2008 at 07:00 PM
can i ask you some questions? what do you think about university of florida since you're an undergrad there? i really like them, but partly because i want to practice in florida, and they're the best school in florida to go to. i actually, on the lsac's ugpa/lsat calculator, i have a 45-50% shot (which i think is really good for how good tulane's ranked). and my second question is, why dont you want to practice in florida? specific reasons? id really like to hear!
thank you
Friday, December 12 2008 at 07:00 PM
no honestly, i really appreciate you writing me back such a nice response. i was excited to read it as soon as i saw it lol. im from michigan, where we have 4 seasons, which i have really enjoyed. except, michigan's economy is in the dump, and other than umich, there really is nothing good left here. i love the great lakes in the summertime though! i have been to florida many times and really enjoy it. i have never seen UF or any other campus really. i also applied to stetson, which i find like a little paradise lol, but im nervous about their job prospects since UF, FSU, and Miami all are (considered) better. what do you think about stetson? that also sucks about UF admitting less people...especially for people with low lsats like me, but i heard they like high gpa's, which mine is good, so that's good, but disappointing to hear they are admitting less :-( what do you think about UM/FSU's law schools too if you dont mind me asking
thanks
Friday, December 12 2008 at 07:00 PM
thanks again for all the great detail you've given me in your posts back to me. i have heard really really good things about stetson, and im hoping to maybe see some $$ thrown at me. might make the decision easier! i love miami, but the expense of living there is obscene which is irritating to me. FSU, im not super crazy about the area of location in florida. i really like UF, and id love to get in there, but i dont know. ive down research and people in past cycles have gotten in (non-urm's too like me) with my index number, but you never know. i'm just gonna "hopeforthebest" haha thanks again
Thanks for the congrats
Sunday, November 23 2008 at 07:00 PM
Hey, thanks for the congrats. Good luck to you with all your apps!
Tuesday, December 02 2008 at 07:00 PM
Thanks and good luck to you as well! You're on my watch list too. :)
similar numbers!
Thursday, January 08 2009 at 07:00 PM
Hi there! We have such similar numbers as well as extracurriculars, so let's cross our fingers for each other! I'm applying to U of South Carolina as well. Good luck!
hey
Friday, December 12 2008 at 07:00 PM
i see you went complete at santa clara...i dont get why my status checker for them still says "pending dec lsat score" i sent it in originally in october with a 151, but i see that they requested my new score around the same day you sent your app in there, so idk wtf is going on!
iu
Friday, December 12 2008 at 07:00 PM
i actually got a fee waiver for iu-bloomington today. i was going to apply, but then i was like why even waste the money...if i got in there would i even go? would i ever even want to live in/work in indiana? i saw you applied to iu-indy...maybe you should try to get a fee waiver from bloomington since we have similar numbers.
ya
Friday, December 12 2008 at 07:00 PM
im gonna call santa clara tomorrow, but im guessing that they'll probably just tell me that it takes 10 days to get the report from lsac blah blah that it'll be changed this week blah blah haha. oh and reading on TLS makes me pretty sure im gonna get rejected for sure at UF...damn.
UF
Friday, December 12 2008 at 07:00 PM
because in all honesty, i like florida the best. i hate to say it...but stetson is coming in close second. i love their location better than miami and FSU, they do really well in florida which is where i want to stay anyways, and other than just their beautiful campus, they have a great rep in florida. im just scared if i have to leave florida, id be much easier to get a job if i went to FSU because people know that name rather than stetson. i have a lot to think about as i wait i guess! im gay with a killer personal statement so im hoping both will help me at UF too but we'll see i guess.
Sunday, March 09 2008 at 08:00 PM
Yeah, it's unfortunate, but I actually think I'm in the same boat as you with this-- as long as I get into Pitt, I'm thrilled. I would love to go to any of my top choices, but besides that, Pitt is an awesome city with a great law school!
tulane
Friday, December 12 2008 at 07:00 PM
i did the rankings awhile ago, but im gonna change them right now to more accurately reflect how i feel now. i really would love to go to UF...if they'll have me of course! lol. btw, please let me know as soon as you hear from tulane/UF because ill be dying to know for you.
sc
Friday, December 12 2008 at 07:00 PM
i just called santa clara, i guess they just got back from break today, so that's why there has been a big deal on the speed in which they're getting apps together, which makes sense. they said i should go complete this week sooo whoopy!
ya
Friday, December 12 2008 at 07:00 PM
knowing you went complete over their "supposed" break makes me question my source...maybe the secretary there just BS'd me lol
hell ya
Friday, December 12 2008 at 07:00 PM
just got an email from santa clara at 730 tonight lol...just went complete!
Sunday, March 09 2008 at 08:00 PM
Thanks for the 'condolences'. I actually have a pretty big-ass list of schools I'd love to attend, starting with Pitt and ending with Tulane (with 4 schools in the middle). I want more responses lol, just... positive ones!
NE, Loyola, SC
Saturday, June 07 2008 at 08:00 PM
Good luck! Those are my top choices. I hope I get in..
UM
Friday, December 12 2008 at 07:00 PM
got into miami today, pretty excited. at least i have a fall back if UF/tulane decide to reject me
tulane
Friday, December 12 2008 at 07:00 PM
i went complete at tulane today...let's hope for the best!
NE and FL
Wednesday, December 03 2008 at 07:00 PM
I'm not too bummed. UM was higher on my list and NE had become irrelevant. Although its always nice to get in somewhere just for sport. I'm from south florida and worked for Rep. Ed Jennings Jr in the capitol. good luck with your cycle.
Friday, October 24 2008 at 08:00 PM
Definitely a bummer that my first decision was a rejection! However, Northeastern wasn't a top choice... I do want to be in the Boston area though and if I didn't get into Northeastern I likely won't get into BC or BU either... Anyway, good luck!
Hey, thanks
Sunday, November 23 2008 at 07:00 PM
Hey, Um, kind of depends on if they give me any scholarship money. Both are fine law schools, but as of right now, SCU is still in first place.
Sunday, March 09 2008 at 08:00 PM
Thanks, I'm going to need all the luck I can get with Wisconsin! Anyways, if others' cycles mean anything, I should be expecting a decision from Pitt soon, too...
thanks
Friday, December 12 2008 at 07:00 PM
thanks! MSU is towards the bottom of my list. after 4 great years of undergrad here, id like to go somewhere else for law school. i got accepted to stetson and creighton today too, so its been a good day. still haven't heard from anything i see. im worried about these seat deposits due mid april if i'm being waitlisted at better schools and the decision to hold out or not. scary thoughts! i hope ill hear from everyone by then.
Sunday, March 09 2008 at 08:00 PM
I certainly hope so. I'm going all out for Pitt though...I'll be sending out a LOCI tomorrow, and then driving down to visit the school and talk with admissions in two weeks. Hopefully they accept me!
Pitt
Wednesday, December 17 2008 at 07:00 PM
I am not a URM and I was not actually waitlisted, my application was "put on hold" so I had to send them a letter of continued interest and now just wait for the best, good luck!
Sunday, March 09 2008 at 08:00 PM
Thanks! As of right now, UIUC is ahead only because I'm accepted there. I just set up a visit with Pitt today and will be there in two weeks. I'm still shocked I got into such a highly-ranked school, but I need to visit everywhere before making my decision.
Sunday, March 09 2008 at 08:00 PM
I can't make any decisions without visiting the schools first. I'll definitely be staying on the WL at GW and will be writing a strong LOCI for Wisconsin. I can't possibly pick a favorite, though, until I've gotten decisions from everyone
hey
Friday, December 12 2008 at 07:00 PM
uconn ill give, because #'s wise my lsat is waaay below even their 25%, but they gave me a fee waiver. i THOUGHT that meant i might have a better chance, but now i hear from TLS they just do that to up their selectivity rating and get hopes up to applicants :-( LSU i do NOT understand. really i dont get it at all. even though i wouldn't go there over miami, i dont understand why i was rejected there. oh well. i check your LSN profile everyday hoping to see some movement just a stalker-ish FYI lol. thank you for your condolences though! it just makes me worried like if im gonna get rejected everywhere else too...
Wednesday, December 03 2008 at 07:00 PM
Miami, I'm from there. good luck.
psu
Friday, December 12 2008 at 07:00 PM
i heard penn state is being ridiculous this year...should be interesting. i think im gonna end up at miami if i get rejected at illinois/fsu/uf/tulane
ya
Friday, December 12 2008 at 07:00 PM
ya im having a rough stretch, now with my 3rd rejection in 2 days. yikes. i know im going to have some more, but i am still praying i get into 1 of my reaches between tulane/fsu/uf, but i dont know....sucks.
Colorado
Friday, December 26 2008 at 07:00 PM
To be honest, I applied on a whim; I was happy to be waitlisted though. If I get in off the list, then it's probably a real possibility that I'll attend. Best of luck to you!
Thank you
Friday, October 24 2008 at 08:00 PM
For the comment. I was hoping for more positive news, but I've moved on. L&C is a pricey choice (this is me trying to get over it, haha). I hope you have better results!
CU
Friday, June 13 2008 at 08:00 PM
Thanks for the nice comment! As far as Boulder goes, it's hard to say. It seems as if they are really emphasizing a wholistic approach, accepting those not just with great numbers, but who seem to be a good fit, perhaps with personal ties to Colorado or Boulder the city. Given your myriad soft factors, you could still get in somewhere unexpected! Best of luck!
Thanks!
Monday, January 26 2009 at 07:00 PM
No, I'm not a URM. Good luck on your cycle. I'm surprised by your Suffolk wait list! Getting wait listed sorta sucks-but at least it isn't a flat out rejection. I'm so bummed about my Northeastern wait list! I'll cross my fingers for you!
suffolk
Friday, December 12 2008 at 07:00 PM
when i went home last weekend i got this HUGE package from suffolk "inviting" me to apply...i was like F that if they WL my homegirl hope! haha dont worry i threw it in the trash (i hadn't ever even heard of the university til i saw it on your profile to be 100% honest)
Thanks for the congrats
Sunday, November 23 2008 at 07:00 PM
I think you definetly have a shot at Loyola. You have a lot of good softs. I really think you'll get in somewhere you'll want to be. You never know...that first acceptance could be on the way right now.
RE: CU
Sunday, July 06 2008 at 08:00 PM
Thanks! I was really surprised to see the acceptance. I love the state of CO so CU will be almost impossible to turn down. I hope the rest of the cycle goes well for you!
uop
Friday, December 12 2008 at 07:00 PM
well, as tempting as 5k is, i still dont think i could see myself going there over miami. i think id much rather live in florida than that part of cali. dont get me wrong, uop is a great school, but it will come down more for me location wise. plus miami is "higher ranked" i guess.
Thanks
Sunday, November 23 2008 at 07:00 PM
Hey, Thanks a lot. Yeah, I'd definetly be down to go to UIUC. Is there a way I can actively pursue it? I thought once they put me on the waitlist that it was all in their hands.
SCU
Friday, December 12 2008 at 07:00 PM
my status checker for santa clara went from "in committee 1/12" to "in committee 1/22" uh oh
Thanks for the good advice
Sunday, November 23 2008 at 07:00 PM
Hey, Thanks for the good advice. I definetly want to pursue it, and now I have a better idea of how to do it. =)
Yeah
Sunday, November 23 2008 at 07:00 PM
It was a bit bizarre that Indy only waitlisted me. Perhaps they really disliked my personal statement or something. Or, maybe they gave my seat to you.
You're welcome...
Sunday, November 23 2008 at 07:00 PM
you sounded like you could use a little bit of it. I wouldn't throw in the law school towel just yet. If law schools weren't considering seriously you, they would have just rejected you right away.
Monday, January 26 2009 at 07:00 PM
Yeah, I'm very interested in Environmental Law so I'm excited about this one. You will hear good things soon enough! Don't worry.
UF
Friday, December 12 2008 at 07:00 PM
went into committee today at UF...we'll see what happens! i'm hoping for the best obviously! please let me in UF!!
Sunday, March 09 2008 at 08:00 PM
Hey, check your mailbox for an absurdly lengthy suggestion. Good luck on the rest of your apps!
Thursday, September 18 2008 at 08:00 PM
huge sigh of relief. i can now get back to sleeping like a normal person. gl
UF
Friday, December 12 2008 at 07:00 PM
ya, i'm still "under review by committee...3/2" which i hope is still a good thing. looks like they're getting rid of people with low gpa's, so that's good for us as well. although i looked and a lot of the people just getting rejections went complete months before i did, so i dont know. im still hoping to at least get on a WL, so i can hit them up with a LOCI with new info about me to add to my resume. keep me posted.
Thanks
Tuesday, January 13 2009 at 07:00 PM
thanks for the kind words....good luck on your cycle too...i cant help but notice that FIU isnt one of your safety schools...I visited and was extremely impressed (besides ranking, i prefered it over FSU)....if you havent considered FIU I would suggest giving it a look
Sunday, March 09 2008 at 08:00 PM
Thanks! With the scholarship, UIUC is going to be incredibly difficult to turn down. It's going to be an interesting next month.
Sunday, March 09 2008 at 08:00 PM
I'm still eligible. And, quite frankly, it's annoying the shit out of me. My cycle should be finishing up, and I've heard nothing from them. I would think they'd at least have the courtesy to look at my file by now...
Wednesday, January 28 2009 at 07:00 PM
I feel your pain believe me. So far I've been accepted to one school (of course it was my LAST choice school) and so far rejected from BU and Northeastern. Suffolk took TWO months just to tell me my application was complete. I E-mailed them to ask them why it took so long (maybe I was missing something) and got no response. NOW I have to wait probably till April to hear from them. Meanwhile I only have till April 15th to let the other school know if I am taking the seat. You are right, this is totally emotionally draining. LOL
UF
Friday, December 12 2008 at 07:00 PM
went to "reviewed by committee, decision pending" today at UF. since that's basically their WL or/rejection so we'll see i guess.
I just wanted to say good luck!
Sunday, January 25 2009 at 07:00 PM
I ran across your profile and I saw that you did not have any acceptances yet. You have very strong numbers and I am sure you will get into a great school. Just keep happy thoughts in your head! Best of luck to you!
UF
Friday, December 12 2008 at 07:00 PM
ya well on TLS we went into the same grouping with someone that's said like 10x over their numbers are "auto-reject" so i dont know how are chances are, lookin a tad bleek. :-(
thanks!
Thursday, February 12 2009 at 07:00 PM
Hey thanks for the message! It's definitely been an interesting cycle so far (read disappointing). I was kind of counting on Southwestern for my ticket to LA, but we'll see if the WL has any hope for me. Best of luck too on Tulane, I'm not holding my breath for me personally, but we'll see.
SCU
Friday, December 12 2008 at 07:00 PM
went to decision mailed on 3/20 for santa clara. did yours move as well?
UF
Friday, December 12 2008 at 07:00 PM
nope, still no news from UF other than when i went to "reviewed by committee, decision rendered." i'm hoping to get on a WL not a flat out rejection so i can at least get a LOCI in, but honestly it looks like im gonna get rejected at UF, and maybe WL at fsu so ya, it's a bummer.
tulane
Friday, December 12 2008 at 07:00 PM
and tulane rejected someone with my exact lsat/gpa, so i know they're going to be probably basically out of the question as well.
hey there! Do you happen to be a gator??
Gator alumna :)
Friday, January 30 2009 at 07:00 PM
I assumed you could be, I bleed orange and blue and I wondered as I see you did your degree in three years. I graduated May 08 in three years too but got cold feet and decided to wait a year. I wish you the best on SC and UF of course (you will get in no doubt, impressive numbers). My status just changed to decision mailed :).
Tulane
Tuesday, December 02 2008 at 07:00 PM
I'm not sure when I went complete because they never sent me the official email, but I sent my application in mid-November and just heard from them last week. Best of luck.
UF
Friday, December 12 2008 at 07:00 PM
oh ya you do live ridiculous close...ehhh im going to keep obsessively thinking about you hitting me up then. when you do find out, shoot me a PM on TLS. ill get it faster that way then to look at the bottom of my LSN wall :-)
Thank you!
Friday, December 12 2008 at 07:00 PM
i'm going to UM unless i get into FSU. ive pretty much decided against going to tulane...not that theres anything wrong with the school, but i dont want to spend 60k a year when i KNOW i want to live/practice in florida. it just makes more sense to go to a florida school if i want to practice in florida. BUT ive waited so f'n long for tulane im going to wait to see what happens haha (most likely a rejection however). im gonna send in my seat deposit to miami this week. maybe you'll sneak into SCU!
FYI
Friday, October 24 2008 at 08:00 PM
I got my WL letter today. I hope you have some positive news coming!
GOOD LUCK
Saturday, February 14 2009 at 07:00 PM
on SCU! I received the same e-mail. It's so annoying. I just want this process to be over. I was so set on SCU in the beginning of the cycle. After this wait though, I am really feeling L&C. I hope we can become classmates at SCU though. Good luck!
South Carolina
Monday, October 06 2008 at 08:00 PM
I went complete on November 11th.
Sunday, March 09 2008 at 08:00 PM
Thanks! Yeah, that's exactly what my decision is coming down to (pending the Wisco WL). I'm sending out an email to Pitt asking about it, and then hoping for the best!
On the waitlists! I also think you have a chance at a few other schools that you are pending at, especially IU-I. Anyway, congratulations and good luck!
Hey!
I did decide on Creighton. They were the best option out of the schools I had in the running. I am more than interested in the three schools that remain. USD is top of my list and Pacific would be great, too. I would like to stay or return to CA. So, that means Loyola is high on my list, also. I feel like my LSAT is too low to get off of the WL though. I am considering asking for PT consideration. I think my fav. WLs are ND, Loyola, PSU and Denver. Haha, that doesn't really narrow it down. I would love any of them, I really hope I get one! What are you doing to try and get into Loyola. I live in San Diego, so I am thinking about visiting. I don't know how much that helps though. I am going to work out a LOCI to send by the end of the week. Maybe we will be classmates next year! Good Luck
I'm big into being the top dog in a little pond (say UC or pitt or IU-I) than being a decent sized dog in a huge market (say kent or depaul). I've heard great things about the alumni network in Indianapolis for IU-I and the only real competition you would have is IU-B. Anyway, good luck!
good luck
I got an email saying I was waitlisted. Very unfortunate.
Really sorry to hear about Tulane, I know they were your first choice. I think they've been pretty unprofessional this entire cycle, taking 4.5 months just to get to our applications. I'm really pulling for you! I'm positive you'll get off one of those WLs, hopefully it's Loyola
I am really pulling for you
This is going to sound semi-stalkerish haha, but I literally check you profile every other day. You have solid numbers and I am sure you will get in somewhere, but your dilemma is stressing me out... so I can't imagine how it has been for you. I see that youre from Florida. Have you thought about FIU? I know they take applications through May. It could be an option for you if you really want to go to law school... Best of luck though!
HANG IN THERE
I understand how you feel, you seem angry, upset, or just plainly annoyed at the decisions the schools have made. BUT you have good numbers and you will be fine. This will seem cheesy but DON"T give up hope. There is a quote that I think of every time I feel bummed out about this cycle. "Never give up on something you can't go day without thinking about." If law is what you want, just be patient and try to enjoy this stressful ride :). I will keep you in my prayers!!
Hey congrats on IU-Indy. I've been watching your cycle for awhile, pulling for you. That first acceptance is such a relief. In my opinion visiting the school is so important. I initially disliked Loyola and loved DePaul. But when I visited DePaul, it plummeted to the bottom of my list. I just couldn't see myself being there for 3 years, let alone the time it takes to get a name for yourself. You have to remember that at regional schools, you'll probably be spending at least 5 years there. I hope it helps. Good Luck. Loyola is great. Hopefully they accept you.
A lot of the people I talked to really liked Loyola but they were waiting to hear from a few other schools. So there is definitely a possibility. That's cool that you want to get into sports. There are a few GCs involved in sports, so that door has initially been broken down. Kim Ng might be the next general manager of the Dodgers, the Tampa Bucs have a Southwestern Grad, the Miami Heat and I think the Texans. Wherever you go, make the best of the situation and make connections. Take a year off if it doesn't feel right. I know there are a lot of sports management degrees available. But let's hope Loyola gives you a chance too. Keep me posted.
Congrats on IU-I! They're a really good school, so I wouldn't discount them yet. What's your gameplan from here?
Hey there!
Sunday, January 25 2009 at 07:00 PM
I saw that you got into Indy... and now I see you probably wont end up there. The good news is that you were accepted to a top 100 school, so even if you decide not to go to law school you can always feel good about that! I am not sure what I would do if I were to be pulled off a few of my wait lists. The thought of Villanova is extremely exciting to me. I was also born and raised in Miami... so I am a Hurricane at heart. I just worry about the cost of the two schools. In the end I hope it won't be finances that make my final decision.
what are your plans for grad school? and i will be sending you a website you might wanna check out.
Don't give up...
I had to take a year off last year for having a cycle like yours with a lower lsat. I studied for the lsat for a few months and did a lot better (still not as good as I was practicing) but I ended up alright and in a school I'm happy with. If you want to go to law school you can make it happen, even if it doesn't happen this fall. Good Luck!
yaaa still waiting on fsu. they're taking awhile so probably not good news. i heard they're going to give decisions to everyone that hasn't gotten a word yet at the end of next week. im about to 4.0 this semester and bump my gpa up to 3.8, so maybe that'll help but you know how that goes :-\
i just wrote you a long message and it got deleted. But to make it short and sweet, i started off as a sports management major at UF, I also wanna break into sports law at some point. Totally study for the test again and im sure you can get 159+. :) Good luck on south carolina, I really hope it comes through for you. If not, then there's next yr. Patience is virtue!!
I just gave notice to SCU that I will not be attending. I hope they give you my spot. =)
