Additional info & updates

4-28-2008: Will be attending UC Berkeley.

Withdrew from all schools, including Columbia waitlist.

Received approximately $20k in need-based financial aid for next year from Boalt. This makes my NYU vs. Boalt decision.

Scholarship numbers detail:
$20k total from UChicago
$30k/yr and free first year housing from GW
$12k/yr from U of Michigan
$15k/yr from Fordham
$25k/yr from USF
$16k/yr from UC Hastings

Went complete at Stanford on 1/31 due to my flaky dean.

I've seen you post on TSL, best of luck. We applied at basically the same time, so I'll be following your timeline pretty closely.

good luck

totally, you too. maybe we'll both get in and can sing it up.

Congrats!

Haha yeah, we have very similar dates, although you have better numbers. hopefully we'll both get into the school of our dreams! I'd take a stab and say Stanford, haha

congrats!

on berkeley! I got deferred to faculty admissions committee or whatever. oh well, hopefully i'll hear some better news soon.

Congrats

on Boalt! I guess that makes everything else easier for you.

Thanks!

I feel like our latest decisions have taken a lot of stress out of the cycle for both of us.

Not quite...
Thursday, July 12 2007 at 08:00 PM

Harvard isn't my first choice, but I would be very happy there. There are a few more places I would love to get in, but if I don't my decision will just be easier.

Congrats!

Hey - congrats on all your acceptances. Any idea where you're going to end up?

Have you noticed any change in the wording of your status checker? Thanks!

Sup Babs! I just noticed your comment, good to see you on here :)

Hastings

So you haven't heard from Hastings either? I know you probably don't care because you got into Boalt (congrats, btw), but do you have any idea what might be going on over there?

Good point
Saturday, October 27 2007 at 08:00 PM

Thanks for the injection of rational thought. I guess I'll just be waiting a bit longer.

Chicago

Nope, not a word since I went complete. I'm in quite a dry spell. $15k/yr from Michigan has to be pretty tempting! Could that going to sway you from Berkeley?

Thanks

Thanks for the note. I love you babs!

Sup!

Sup babs! We miss you on TLS already :( Thanks for the note, I am pretty happy with how the cycle is going. I'd be happier if I were kicking A$$ and taking names like you but... hey you know ;)

Thursday, January 17 2008 at 07:00 PM

Most likely NYU. It was my top choice to begin with. An acceptance from Harvard might change that but not really banking on it... we shall see. Might be going to the 18th ASD, what about you?

Hastings
Saturday, October 27 2007 at 08:00 PM

Yeah, I've been toying with the idea of calling them. It's hard to decide what I can say without sounding presumptious. I think I might just ask for a status check even though they say not to. Any other suggestions of what to do without sending a full-blown LOCI?

Hey
Saturday, October 27 2007 at 08:00 PM

Just wanted to let you know that I e-mailed Hastings about my app status. They sent a short but friendly response that said they are reviewing my app now and will give me a decision soon. Thanks for your advice. Good luck on Stanford and whatever else you might be hoping for.

Thanks, babs,

And congrats to you as well! Boalt is definitely a top choice at the moment. I'm going to the Admitted Students Day on April 4. Will you be there? Which other schools are you leaning towards?

Congrats!
Monday, October 01 2007 at 08:00 PM

On Chicago!

Thanks
Saturday, October 27 2007 at 08:00 PM

Although I think the worry made a difference, since I e-mailed them to ask about my app and got a call from the dean 2 days later. It could have been a coincidence, but...probably not. Anyway, thanks for being the voice of reason.
