Additional info & updates

07-01 - 178 - Missed both questions in a single RC passage

12-17 - Vandy decision mailed.

12-26 - Big package from Vandy - Admitted student info

12-27 - Standard sized letter from Vandy saying I am in.

1-3 - HLS interview email.

1-8 - I emailed UM because I still didn't have a status check number, and they replied to tell me I am complete.

1-10 - Complete at HLS before the TS1. Mine was short, ~5 minutes. I feel like it was fine. I didn't stutter, but I probably didn't sell myself as well as I should have either.

1-14 - TS2, in at Harvard!!!

1-16 - UVA status check change

1-17 - Email from Columbia asking for last semester's grades.

1-18 - UM status check change

1-18 - In at UVA - standard sized white letter. Dean's Scholarship!!!

1-20 - In at Michigan!! I just logged into the admitted students site, but my package isn't here yet. (No "Why Michigan" essay)

1-22 - Finally complete at Penn, HLS and Michigan binders arrived.

1-28 - Tiny letter offering a Dean's scholarship to Michigan.

2-11 - In at Columbia!

2-16 - Columbia binder arrived.

2-23 - I withdrew from Michigan today.

2-28 - $90,000 offer from Vandy!

3-17 - Rejected from Yale and WL at Penn. I expected both. I rushed out my Yale application with a different and admittedly worse personal statement (long story) and I didn't take enough time to answer the activities question. I knew it was a mistake as soon as I submitted it, but I couldn't think about it any longer. I didn't write a "Why Penn". I had an incredible time at the HLS ASW though, so it is not really a concern at this point. The YLS option would have been nice, but I wasn't even sad when I found out. I have a few more visits to make and obviously a few more schools to hear from before I make any final decisions though.

3-26 - $90K offer from UVA makes them a legit contender again.

I should really be saying that to you! :-) I'm a little nervous about HYS, but I feel good about the rest. Should I assume your preferences resemble the rankings?

Still

planning on applying this cycle, or no?

Yeah
Thursday, July 12 2007 at 08:00 PM

Yeah, it just took me 20 additional drafts to create a personal statement I was happy with. Now that I am content, my applications are moving out.

thanks

for the congrats! i would wish you luck with your cycle, but you absolutely don't need it. get those yale & sls apps out! :)

you have no idea how happy i was to see i wasn't the only one lagging on the yls and sls apps :) although i'm thinking of not applying to sls after all - mainly because i want to live/work in the bay area post-law school, and i think i'd like some geographic diversity before then

Thanks and good luck

Thank you for the congratulations. Your numbers are spectacular; I'd say you're guaranteed a spot at the school of your choice. Good luck with your cycle. Happy holidays!

thanks!

you'll definitely be having a great cycle too, based on those numbers!

Great numbers! I hope they don't read your applications before mine. lol. Good luck this cycle.

makes me want to defenestrate myself... my goal is to send it in during the first week of the new year.

Congrats!

On Harvard!

Oh my god!
Thursday, October 25 2007 at 08:00 PM

Congrats on Harvard!!!

Seriously
Thursday, October 25 2007 at 08:00 PM

I am assuming Harvard was your first choice, and the only school I would consider over Boalt is Stanford (very unlikely). It's almost a little anticlimactic. lol.

Not exactly... I'd be incredibly happy there though

Hi there
Thursday, October 25 2007 at 08:00 PM

We seem to be waiting on a bunch of the same schools. Good luck!

yeah
Monday, June 11 2007 at 08:00 PM

i'm really happy with my cycle so far, though stanford is a big contender for me. what's your first choice? maybe we'll be classmates next year!

Congrats!
Monday, October 01 2007 at 08:00 PM

On Columbia!

Could be...
Monday, January 07 2008 at 07:00 PM

But I really want a scholarship somewhere, and hopefully Berkeley could match it... I very well may take Berkeley with $$$ over Stanford without

Columbia
Saturday, October 20 2007 at 08:00 PM

Congrats! No, no idea what I did to get put on hold...had a good cycle so far maybe? LSN snooping, CLS?? :) It's obviously their choice who to admit; numbers aren't everything, but I'd hope that my ECs/soft factors that got me into a bunch of other great schools would have been good enough for Columbia. Oh well. I guess I could write a LOCI and keep in the race?

To be honest...
Saturday, October 20 2007 at 08:00 PM

...I haven't visited Columbia's LS yet, but I've only heard fantastic things. So yeah, I would definitely consider them. Money would help, of course, and being put on hold probably makes that less likely...but it's a fantastic school and I'd be lucky to be admitted. I'm not counting out any school at this point.

Thanks
Saturday, October 20 2007 at 08:00 PM

for the well wishes. No worries...stalking is perfectly acceptable. I'll get around to writing a LOCI some time after I dig out of these financial aid forms...geez. [Whoa, two of my roommates just came into my room and started singing "We Didn't Start the Fire" to me...but with my name inserted every time the word 'Fire' is in the song. Weird.]

Thanks. . .

For the congrats -- I'm pleasantly suprised with how the cycle has gone so far. Right now I'm most considering H/S and the schools I've gotten significant cash from -- NU, UCLA, and possibly Penn (levy scholars invite). I haven't made any concrete decisions yet, and probably wont until after visits. CONGRATS on a great cycle. Are you leaning anywhere?

Thank you!
Saturday, October 20 2007 at 08:00 PM

For the congrats...it really has been a dream of a cycle. And you're right - now the hard part begins: visiting/deciding. Best of luck with the rest of your cycle!

yeah
Monday, January 07 2008 at 07:00 PM

Yeah the choice is getting a little rediculous... honestly though, i just want some money from a t14. i'm really broke and don't want to be a biglaw slave.

Chicago?
Thursday, October 25 2007 at 08:00 PM

Have you heard from them yet?

Michigan
Thursday, October 25 2007 at 08:00 PM

UMich is a great school but too far out for me, plus the $15k only brings it about equal to Boalt instate. It's still NYU or Boalt for me unless Stanford somehow comes through. Here's hoping we hear from Chicago soon!
