Extra Curricular Information

Posting more info for all the haters.

The usual:
Fairly mundane extracurriculars in college. Played intramural sports and studied abroad just like most other students. Interested in IP law.

The not so usual (not that it matters since law school admissions are based almost solely on your numbers):
Four years work experience in the semi-conductor industry which includes about six months working abroad in east Asia.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

I visited NYU/Chicago/Boalt/Texas and decided on NYU.

Turned down Texas because other schools are ranked higher.

Turned down Boalt because they gave no $$$ and their facilities are lacking.

Turned down Chicago because it's in Chicago.

Chose NYU because they gave $$ and it's in NYC.

Additional info & updates

Sent Diversity statements to schools that required an 'optional' essay. Didn't interview at Northwestern. All scholarships listed are Merit-Based

12/16 - Georgetown acceptance in small envelope.
12/21 - UVA acceptance via phone call with Dean's Scholarship.
12/21 - Northwestern acceptance via email.
12/23 - NYU acceptance in big envelope.
1/13 - UMich acceptance in big envelope.
1/20 - Stanford rejection in small envelope.
1/20 - Duke acceptance in big envelope.
1/28 - UT acceptance in small envelope.
1/30 - "Held" at Columbia in small envelope.
1/31 - GW acceptance via email.
2/2 - Penn acceptance via email.
2/2 - Chi acceptance via phone call.
2/2 - UT 21k scholarship over three years via letter
2/3 - Georgetown invitation to apply for full scholarship.
2/6 - Yale - thanks for the 70 dollars - via small envelope.
2/9 - Penn invitation to apply for 20k/yr scholarship
2/11 - Harvard rejection via small envelope. I got pwn3d at Harvard. I thought I'd at least get on the waitlist based on the LSN graph. That's what I get for attending a TTT undergrad state school.
2/12 - Dook 42k over three years via letter.
2/12 - GW 60k over three years via letter.
2/14 - Boalt acceptance via email.
2/?? - Chicago 46k over three years via letter.
3/13 - Cornell requests interview. The letter was dated Feb 17th, and I didn't receive it until March 13th! Anyways I'm considering this a deferral and I'm withdrawing from Cornell.
3/?? - UVA 63k over three years,
4/1 - NYU 25k over three years.
4/11 - Columbia - Second deferral letter putting me in the 'reserve' catergory. Somewhat miffed about this one. My softs and PS couldn't have been that bad given that I was admitted to Boalt and Chicago, schools which typically ding high-numbers applicats. I chalk this one up to Ivy prestige-whoring and their dislike of most state schools.
4/11 - No Money from Berkeley via letter :(
4/19 - Withdrawing from Mich, Penn, NW, Texas. It's down to NYU/Chicago/UVA/Boalt
4/24 - NYU-bound. I wonder what school I would have selected if the USNWR rankings didn't exist.
4/27 - NYU 25k -> 37.5k
6/12 - Third Columbia Deferral/WL until July via letter

your page is a little empty, but with all those great acceptances you def need some grats on here! Where do you plan to go, or areyou still holding out for the biggies ( i.e Yale Harvard)

Scholarship money is going to play a big factor in my decision. Of course it would be great to get into HYS regardless of scholarship money.

I'm sorry about the Stanford rejection--both as a rejection, and because it makes your ultimate decision that much harder. Best of luck.

Surprised they dinged you as well - take heart in the fact that they're planning on only having a class of about 20 this year (lol, or that's how it appears from LSN). Good luck with Berkeley - you'd think they would be impressed with high GPAs in engineering, I don't know why they are holding out on us.

What did your letter from Columbia say? Were they putting you on "reserve?" Just curious, because that's what my letter said, and I took that to mean waitlisted.

I was "Held" at Columbia and they are supposed to make a decision on my app by April 30th. I sent in a diversity statement to supplement my app.

I do have great options, but of course it stings my EGO to be rejected from any schools. Not like I wanted to live in New Haven for three years anyways :)

Congrats!! You give me hope, I have heard nothing after going complete in early January, and it's nice to see that there's a chance this could turn into good news.

Congrats on your newest acceptances. Quite the list! Good luck with your Penn invite. (Condolences for H/Y, but you have some damn fine options...be proud.)

I was straight up rejected at Harvard without a phone call.

Only better! Same LSAT (only I had to retake...), similar GPA, TTT school, EE... and you got WLed at CLS? Well, I hope you still check this from time to time, because I'd really like to hear how you like NYU!!
