Additional info & updates

01/25/07: It would be really nice to hear from a few more schools, especially to hear some more complete's. Not sleeping very well lately.....so I can't wait to get just ONE acceptance. I want to know that I will actually be going to law school.

01/29/07: Yessir! In at USD! Big white envelope. I sense sleepful nights ahead. I'd love to hear from anyone else accepted.....are they high on your list?......are you going to a visit day?....etc

02/02/07: Scholarship offer from USD today....regular white envelope. $22k renewable over 3 years, provided I stay in the top 1/3 of my class. Very nice to see that $$$, because USD is crazy expensive. This $$$ will certainly put USD very high on my list.

02/15/07: The drought is over......waitlisted at UCLA. Not bad for a top 15 school; at least it beats a rejection. Accepted at Pacific, and selected as a Legal Scholar (apparently just means that I get free books for the first year and paid travel expenses for a visit).

02/16/07: The good news is rolling in now! Accepted at USF via e-mail. Hopefully there's more good news from them.

02/20/07: Accepted at Pepperdine w/$17k scholarship (renewable provided I stay in the top 1/3 of my class)......what a gorgeous campus! Also accepted at Loyola, hopefully they can sweeten the pot. Lastly, received $15k scholarship from Pacific (again, renewable if I stay in the top 1/3). Decisions, decisions......I need my SB lawyer crew to gather a small symposium over a tasty beverage.

02/26/07: Accepted at Santa Clara (big white envelope).

02/28/07: Had to come sometime.....first ding, courtesy of Stanford.....trees are overrated anyhow.

03/08/07: And dinged AGAIN! Not the way I wanted my dry spell to end.

03/09/07: Withdrew from Pacific by email. I hate to turn down money, but I have more attractive offers, and someone else can have my spot and scholarship.

03/12/07: Ding numero tres! I played college football, so they'd probably try to buy my family a house anyway, and I don't need that trouble. Accepted at UNLV (big white envelope) w/$10k scholarship renewable for $5k in 2nd and 3rd years.

03/14/07: Waitlisted at Hastings by email. Very disappointing, and very unexpected. Ludicrous.

03/22/07: Visiting USD on 03/30 for a campus tour and sit in on a class, and then enjoy San Diego for the weekend! This is definitely where I'm leaning, and this trip may all but seal the deal.

04/09/07: Well, the campus was even more gorgeous than I imagined, and the students and faculty were extremely helpful and friendly. I'm going to go ahead and check attending, because it would take something extraordinary to change my mind at this point. Who else is joining the USD family?

05/22/07: I can't believe this entire wild admissions ride is finally over......but it is. Officially withdrew from everywhere except USD.....in no small part due to USD's generous scholarship addition. I will see all of you Torero's down in San Diego soon.

You seem to have your sights set on California. Any particular reason? I grew up in Los Angeles. Good luck throughout.

CA/MI
Tuesday, January 09 2007 at 07:00 PM

You want to come to CA, and I want to go to MI. Let's just switch.

CA games
Tuesday, January 09 2007 at 07:00 PM

Yea, usually games are my best section...maybe I got too cocky...entirely possible. Santa Barbara, huh? Beautiful place isn't it? I love it. And I definitely have NOT spent a winter in any kind of winter weather. I grew up in San Luis Obispo/Pismo Beach, and now live in SB, actually. I have seen the snow 3 times in my life. Pathetic, I knonw, and I definitely will miss the beach wherever I go.

shell beach too?
Tuesday, January 09 2007 at 07:00 PM

That is crazy! small little world this is, isn't it. but yea, drinks could be cool...one of these weekends coming up! i'm sure i could drag my boyfriend...you could tell him how cool michigan is for me...make him want to go too. i finally went comlete at michigan today...i was getting all panicked.

Hello
Tuesday, December 12 2006 at 07:00 PM

The only two people I know on this website have written you so I thought I should say hi. Good luck with the cycle!

Hell Yeah!
Tuesday, December 12 2006 at 07:00 PM

Just tell me when and where and I will totally be there. I think we all need a little decompression.

thank you!
Tuesday, January 09 2007 at 07:00 PM

It is a huge relief. Looks like we're ALL getting drinks. YAY! Climbingstars KNOWS and has SEEN how freaked out I get! Hahaha.

Pepperdine
Thursday, November 09 2006 at 07:00 PM

No, I have not been to pepperdine. I have to doubt that it is a beautiful school, but for someone who wants to eventually go back to Minnesota to pratice law, im worried that they will not have a strong mid-west placement, and thats why I have pretty much decided against them. You have some good numbers, what is your first choice?

No No...
Wednesday, January 03 2007 at 07:00 PM

It just means that concealing one's identity seems to be the trend around here, and I'm a function of my surroundings. I see you live in SB nowadays? I'm actually an SB kid myself. Beautiful aint it?

Thanks!
Tuesday, November 14 2006 at 07:00 PM

Thanks for the words of congratulations. I'm sure you'll hear back from USF and Pacific any day now. As far as my short list, Davis and Hastings are at the top of schools I think I have a realistic shot of getting into. UCLA, USC, and Berkeley are all reach schools for me. But you never know, right? Good luck, and I hope you hear back soon!

Rankings
Tuesday, November 14 2006 at 07:00 PM

My order of preferences is pretty closely tied to the school rankings, though I had to put Hastings above Davis because of the location issue. Still, it could definitely be worse. As for USF, the scholarship is all first year. Still not a bad chunk of change.

rankings...
Thursday, October 19 2006 at 08:00 PM

whats up with your personal rankings mirroring us news? i mean you applied to 13 schools, so it seems the rankings should just be 1-13? or are you just communicating that the us news is all you consider in ranking the schools you applied to? does location or specific programs not play any part in your preferences? truly i am jut curious to know your thoughts behind this, i do not mean ANY disrespect. good luck, but with that lsat i doubt you'll need it!

Fuck Yea!
Tuesday, December 12 2006 at 07:00 PM

I'm way excited for you. Now you will for sure be calebjanthony ESQ. one day. It's on for drinks, let's do it soon.

nice on the usd admit!
Saturday, December 23 2006 at 07:00 PM

im hoping to see one soon as well as i sent my apps a few days before you! good luck semi numbers twin...btw...dont massive jumps on the lsat kick ass?

yay!
Tuesday, January 09 2007 at 07:00 PM

yay! that is so exciting! i don't know where we should go, but we definitely should go. yea, i sleep like crap like every night now; i have terrible law school rejection/i forgot something important to send in nightmares! let's just keep the acceptances rolling in and we'll be good.

date received.
Saturday, December 23 2006 at 07:00 PM

hey bro...does your "decision date" of 1/29/07 pertain to the date you received the letter or what is dated on the actual letter? thanks for the info man...

Congrats on USD
Wednesday, January 03 2007 at 07:00 PM

You're officially going to law school.

Congrats
Saturday, November 18 2006 at 07:00 PM

Thanks for the well wishes. I'm definitely looking to go to school in Cali.. I'm interested in entertainment law but knew my numbers wouldn't hold up at either UCLA or USC. I'd be happy at either Loyola or UCDavis. Good luck to you!

USD
Tuesday, October 10 2006 at 08:00 PM

Thanks :) USD gave me the scholarship along w/the acceptance letter, no extra paper work. I see you got one too, congrats!

Re:
Tuesday, October 10 2006 at 08:00 PM

yeah I think pepperdine has an amazing location, but I'm actually leaning towards loyola... better LA rep and the differance betw. scholarships is not very much (well at least in comparison to the cost of law school). Haven't looked into increasing tutions yet, I just assumed they'll all go up a bit, but hopefully not too much :)

?
Tuesday, December 12 2006 at 07:00 PM

When are we getting those drinks?

congrats
Wednesday, July 19 2006 at 08:00 PM

hey - i haven't logged on in a while, but i see that your question was answered by the money! :) congrats and best of luck w/ the rest.

Monday, November 27 2006 at 07:00 PM

Thursday, October 19 2006 at 08:00 PM

Thursday, October 19 2006 at 08:00 PM

i think your def in at usc. tell me your thoughts on preferring hastings and usd over usc? i think you should come to usd :)

woo!
Tuesday, January 09 2007 at 07:00 PM

Look at you! Yes, I'm totally down for some drinks. I had to have one by myself last night I'm so stressed out! Pathetic I know. But filling out that needaccess form was just too much for me! Thursday or Friday might be good!

Yes
Tuesday, December 12 2006 at 07:00 PM

Thursday sounds fabulous. I'm free after 8:00.

Tuesday, January 09 2007 at 07:00 PM

=(
Tuesday, January 09 2007 at 07:00 PM

that is all.

nice job!
Wednesday, July 19 2006 at 08:00 PM

wow, keep those acceptances coming, and good job on getting w/led at UCLA! that's awesome. to answer your question, i'm leaning towards staying in southern california, esp. the LA area, so i'm really crossing my fingers for USC and UCLA.

SERIOUSLY!
Tuesday, January 09 2007 at 07:00 PM

I'm definitely in a dry spell too. I haven't heard anything since the Mich rejection! It's STUPID! I need to hear SOMETHING! My deposit at Hastings is due the 1st and I'm still waiting on a butt-load of schools. It is stressing me out!

sorry to
Tuesday, January 09 2007 at 07:00 PM

hear about those rejections...but at least the dry spell is over! i haven't heard CRAP in a long time! i'm getting antsy because hastings deposit is due april 1st! i think it will all be coming at once. what if we all ended up there...wouldn't that be special?

soooooo
Thursday, October 19 2006 at 08:00 PM

u going to usd? i am.

hastings!!!
Tuesday, January 09 2007 at 07:00 PM

i can't believe it! hopefully they'll change their minds fast! that's crazy though. so far it looks like that's where i'm going!

to:Hastings wailistee
Friday, December 22 2006 at 07:00 PM

What's a "ttt"? Or does anyone else know?

ttt
Thursday, October 19 2006 at 08:00 PM

she means third tier, which isn't even true at all, hastings is first tier (top 50) usd is in the second tier(50-100) and then there's third and 4th tiers that don't have any particuar rankings

daygo
Thursday, October 19 2006 at 08:00 PM

san diego is freaking gorgeous. its warmer, cheaper, and friendlier than san fran too. although i have gotten a few comments about my skewed perception of hastings being unfriendly/competitive yadda yadda is totally wrong. i just don't know...

fortuita cannot follow directions.
Thursday, October 19 2006 at 08:00 PM

what the fuck is taking davis so long? i don't think i would ever go there but i'm so sick of looking up that stupid status checker is driving me crazy. are you going to any admitted student days? i'm trying to decide when.

caleb!!!
Tuesday, January 09 2007 at 07:00 PM

DRINKS!!!! i've had a few today myself. it is st. patty's day, you know. but another date would be fun! i'm going to hastings in a couple days. i got my award letter today. i'm lukewarm.

CALEB!
Tuesday, January 09 2007 at 07:00 PM

I think you should call anyway...just in case. They just gave me another 6K a year, so I'm not feeling so bad. We need to get some drinks again! That was so fun.

that's awesome
Tuesday, January 09 2007 at 07:00 PM

that you made your decision. That must feel amazing! I'm more stressed out right now, at this point in the game than I have been all along. Before it was just like hmmm, "I'd like to go here, or I'd like to go there." Now it is "I'm moving somewhere for the next three years of my life, this is real and this is where I'm going." It is so stressful! Especially with a significant other. This affects his life too! If it were just me alone, I'd be on the next plane to Boston, but it's not. Oh man!! But about the drinks, yes, we most definitely DO need to get together. This Friday or Saturday perhaps?

usd
Thursday, October 19 2006 at 08:00 PM

god you made me feel so much better. i got so freaking worried when i saw the rankings and was thinking: is someone trying to tell me to go to hastings? i seriously started doubting my decision, but i think you're right about the rankings going back up. look me up on facebook: jessica mackaness university of florida. you're moving from michigan? god you're going to love the weather, but for me SD is actually colder than where i live now and thats no fun. fuck it, i don't want to worry about law school anymore. i am at peace with going to san diego.

facebook
Thursday, October 19 2006 at 08:00 PM

wait i think i just found you on facebook, you live in santa barbara now? then you know all about the weather. my sister just graduated from brookes in ventura so i've visited santa barbara a lot, love it. i hope its you or i've just friend requested some random.

Why so strong on USD?
Monday, November 27 2006 at 07:00 PM

I have not visited yet, but put a deposit down anyway because everyone says it is so wonderful. I am sure that it is a beautiful place, but what else can you tell me about the school (what the students seemed like, the atmosphere, the faculty). I would appreciate any info you have.

oh but it is
Saturday, February 24 2007 at 07:00 PM

I can totally see how SD seems cheaper than LA or SF by looking at online data, but having lived in all three I'm speaking from experience when I say that it really is no cheaper.

UCLA/Hastings Waitlists
Monday, November 27 2006 at 07:00 PM

If you get in off the waitlist at either of those schools, would you change your mind about USD?

Drinks
Tuesday, January 09 2007 at 07:00 PM

tomorrow night?

USD
Tuesday, August 15 2006 at 08:00 PM

I'll be in SD come the end of June. I am ready for some fun.

USD!
Monday, November 27 2006 at 07:00 PM

I just came back from visiting and absolutely loved it. I don't think I could go to Loyola or Hastings if I got in off the waitlist after seeing USD. All of the other schools seem depressing in comparison. See you in the fall.

i made a decision...
Tuesday, January 09 2007 at 07:00 PM

I'm going to BC!!
