Additional info & updates

I am born and raised in Little Rock, AR. I come from a less than privledged background. Growing up was tough but I made it. I went to a small school in Arkansas for my undergrad and I am now pursing my MBA at PITT. I give all praise to God for every opportunity I have received and now looking for a blessing in the form of a great cycle. Oh and a little money would be nice :-).

5/24- studyin for the June LSAT. It is not looking to promising but hopefully I do decent. If not there is always next time.

6/7- took the LSAT yesterday now im playing the waiting game.

6/27- LSAT scores are in and with only a month to study I am ok with this score. It will be too difficult to study for it while getting my Masters. I am going to apply and hope for great things.

7/5- I applied for an LSAC Fee Waiver. I was conditionally approved. Faxing information in tomorrow. Hope this can make the application process less costly.

7/8- LSAC approved my fee waiver today. Not sure how many wave fees once the LSAC approves a fee waiver but im sure there are a hand full. My application list will definitely grow. $16 for a application sounds WAAAAY better then a $50-70.

7/14- Im ready for the application process to get started. Kinda nervous because of the weak LSAT score but hopefully I pick up points in other areas of my application

8/3- I am finalizing my personal statement and strategically planning on which schools to apply to. I have been reading post from past cycles and there are a lot of "interesting" comments to say the least. I hope to get into a great school so my page can gain some excitement. Come on September :-)

9/27- It has been a while since I have been on here. I have been receiving emails with fee waivers from schools that I know I wont get in. I guess they want me to apply so I can up their rejection rate LOL!! Oh well. Hopefully I will be done applying in 2 weeks. Grad school is slowing me down as it is starting to consume my life

10/15- I have completed a couple of applications. People on here have started to report whether they were accepted or rejected to a couple of the schools I have applied to. I am getting nervous.

10/21- Waitlisted at Miami- not a rejection but not an acceptance. Oh well I will stay positive. Man I have to finish applying to schools.

10/31- Happy Halloween all. 23 apps down 5 or so to go. I am taking full advantage of the LSAC fee waiver. :-)

11/1- In at the University of Arkansas. First acceptance :-)

11/15- Another acceptance. Accepted to Michigan State with a 75% scholarship.

11/17- I am just now receiving emails that from schools that I applied to in September saying that my application is just now completed. That's weird but maybe I will start to hear back from a couple more schools now. On a brighter note I am I got another acceptance. Cincinnati!!!!

11/18- Woke up feeling a certain type of way after rereading my personal statement. In most of the ones I submitted the grammar wasn't perfect. I forgot to change became to become while writing it. Oh well I am in at a school now. Hopefully everyone else overlooks the minor error

12/3- Submitted my last application today. 26 applications in and so far four responses none of which are rejections. This is a good sign. I am ready to hear back from the others. I hate the waiting game.

12/7- Question- Should I be actively checking the status checkers or will they send out an email/direct mail when a decision has been made?

12/9- Accepted to Wake Forest. First Tier 1 school. I got a 40% scholarship. I am sooooo excited.

12/18- Went to Seattle to visit a friend. I stopped to see the University of Washington Law School and I think I'm in love. That campus and law school is AMAZING!!!

12/23- Accepted to Chicago-Kent. Waiting on the financial package to come in to mail. That will start the new year off right.

12/28- Got two more acceptance letters last night via snail mail, Colorado and Arizona. The decision is getting harder and harder with each acceptance. Still waiting on the financial package from these two and Chicago-Kent. I wonder do law schools negotiate scholarship money.

1/3- Ready to start hearing from the top 30 schools. I feel like they are playing me because of my low LSAT score. Sigh.

1/5- Well this was not a great day. I got rejected from UCLA and waitlisted at Minnesota. Still waiting on a lot of schools to respond.

1/6- Today was better. Accepted into Illinois with a 25% scholarship.

1/9- Rejected at Berkeley

1/10- I guess the west coast doesn't like me. I was rejected from Washington today

1/25- Accepted into Penn State. Received 20k scholarship from Chicago-Kent. This is a good day!

1/27- I applied to Pepperdine today lol

2/1- Accepted into Pitt Law :-) the rest of these decision letters should be rolling in here soon.

2/6- Accepted into Loyola. Got a fee waiver to Northwestern.....They are a little late now

2/15- Waitlisted at California Irvine. I am not really worried about any of the other schools outside of the top 40.

2/17- what is taking these other schools so long?

2/20- Waitlisted at UGA. I should have applied earlier

2/21- In at Ohio State. I am SOOOOOO excited!!!

3/20- My cycle is just about over. I am very pleased with my cycle thus far. If anyone has any questions, is seeking guidance, or wants me to tell what I did to have a successful cycle let me know.

No 151 was my score after my third attempt on the LSAT, my first score was a 145 and my second a 146, good luck on the test next month hope your studying is going well!

Yeah there's hope! The LSAT is hard but if u keep at it I'm sure u will do good, I was pretty scared that no school was going to even take me after my third attempt haha, if u have any questions about applying send me a message and hopefully I can help

Just to let you know I didn't score a 156 until my third attempt. I was really down about my scores but I transferred that energy into writing the best ps I possibly could n I honestly believe thats what ultimately got me in. Stay focus and determined and I am sure you'll do fine

Good Luck

Thank you! Definitely a good start to the cycle, hoping the best for you as well and some similar acceptances! Gl with your cycle I'll be watching :)

SERIOUSLY!!!!!!
Sunday, July 24 2011 at 08:00 PM

I need you to STOP with the negativity madness! Your numbers are fine! 151 is the average LSAT score and frankly, I know some people with worse LSAT/GPAs than you have that have gotten into good schools. Someone decent WILL accept you and I don't mean a crappy place like Cooley! LOL! Good luck with your cycle...I'm watching! :)

#1 choice...
Sunday, July 24 2011 at 08:00 PM

My #1 choice is Georgia State Law. That in-state tuition would be awesome, not to mention the plentiful opportunities for externships in a larger city like Atlanta.

Good luck

Your GPA is a lot better than mine so you'll fare better than I will. Good luck to you!

Have you thought about...
Sunday, July 24 2011 at 08:00 PM

applying to Florida Coastal School of Law? I see it's not on your list, but I think you'd have a good chance of getting into that school as well. :)

Monday, December 13 2010 at 07:00 PM

while my LSAT is higher than yours, your GPA is well within most medians. When it comes to getting an URM boost, schools are more forgiving of low LSAT scores than low GPAs, ceteris paribus. I'm sure someone has already asked you this but have you considered retaking the LSAT? I scored a 151 on my first attempt.

You are on my watch list. Excited for you! Did you do the optional statements for the schools you applied to?

Congratulations!

Thursday, November 10 2011 at 07:00 PM

did you get waitlisted or put on hold at um?

Thursday, November 10 2011 at 07:00 PM

I think it is because you will get a decision prior to any movement from those on the waitlist.

:-)
Sunday, July 24 2011 at 08:00 PM

Thanks...I appreciate your kind, encouraging words. I know it's far from over. It's just my patience isn't passing the "wait and see" test.

Good luck! You and I are sorta in the same boat. Though you already have some pretty good acceptances on your bag. Any schools you're considering so far?

Status Checkers
Thursday, June 30 2011 at 08:00 PM

I only skimmed the comments already on here, so maybe someone else already answered this: but I would definitely check the status checkers and not wait for an email or snail mail notification, necessarily. IDK about the other schools you are waiting on, bc I didn't apply to them, but check on here if other applicants received notifications on status checker first. I know one of my schools said "congrats" on status checker 2-3 days before they sent me an email about it. GL on the rest of your cycle!

Thursday, June 30 2011 at 08:00 PM

I don't really know yet. Money is a big factor, of course, but my fiance is applying to physics grad schools. When he starts getting his decision letters, I'll probably start paring down, then. I'm not too keen on the Colorado or Virginia cost of living; the scholarship to L&C makes Oregon do-able; and I wish I had gotten more $ from Az, but at least their cost of living is low. I am anxious to see if/what FL, Ohio State, and Cinci give me.

Same boat. Do you think you'll withdraw or are you going to stick it out?
