Additional info & updates

1/11/12: Due to new circumstances, I'm withdrawing from the 2011-2012 cycle.

12/13/11: I probably won't update my profile for a while. That is all.

12/11/11: After some pumping and priming from a friend who attends W&L, I submitted my application there. No expectations honestly, though.

12/9/11: Decided to torture myself and check all my status checkers. Nothing really new except for the fact that Samford's status checker still has the same status (Application Complete), but the date changed from 10/31/11 to 12/9/11. *Shrug* That is all my LSN people.

12/7/11: Decided to check my status checkers since I've been trying NOT to get caught in the "checking it every 2 minutes" trap...lol...and the only one that has changed is Georgia State's. Status updated to "Complete and ready for review" as of 11/30/11. More waiting. *Sigh*

12/5/11: All is quiet over here. *Blank stare* This may be bad to say, but I don't feel as badly about my cycle anymore. I saw someone's profile that has a 167 LSAT score and they've been rejected by schools they should've easily gotten into. I know now that it's not "just me." Still wishing everyone good luck!

11/29/11: Interesting. I got accepted to U of M last year and then withdrew. I got flat out rejected this year. *Shrug* Whatever...lol. I'm a die hard Seminole fan anyhow. Lol.

11/22/11: Huh??? I called Alabama and they told me that a decision had NOT been made yet, but the reason they sent me the MyBama info is in case they, or any other department, wanted to contact me (i.e. financial aid sends me info). Okkkkkkkk. I don't get it. Maybe I'm slow, but why would any other departments contact me if I'm not accepted to the school and why wouldn't admissions just email me at the address included with my application as opposed to having me set up a @crimson.au.edu address??? What an emotional roller coaster ride...*blank stare*

11/21/11: TOTALLY CONFUSED! So...this evening I got an email from Alabama sending me instructions on how to set up a MyBama account. Mind you, I have not gotten any letter (snail mail or email) stating that I was accepted...and of course their status checker doesn't work. When I created my account, I expected something to be in the account stating a decision, but nothing! Everything LOOKS like I got in (I can log into their Banner system and register for classes, if I wanted to), but I want to be cautious and NOT get my hopes up, after all it's a LONG, lonely drop to the bottom if I wasn't accepted. (Lol).

11/18/11: Trying to figure out what the HECK is going on with my cycle!?!?!?!?! End of week 4. *sigh*

11/17/11: Excited. I got a decision...well, if you can call it that. Lol. Waitlisted at Barry. Checked the status checker a few mins ago and the status was "applicant waitlisted." Kinda didn't expect that, but oh well. At least they moved a little faster considering that I submitted the app on 11/9/11. Now let's see if we can get some other schools moving! :)

11/9/11: We've got movement people! Lol. Decision from Stetson via email. Rejection. I'm surprised that it didn't sting or anything. I expected to be kind of down when I got the first rejection. *Shrug*. Optimistically awaiting the next decision letter/email. :) (Oh. I decided to apply to more "safety" schools, as they're called. Just widening the net!)

11/2/11: All I can do is shake my head at the way some people carry on on this website. I wonder do they know that that's not a good look and that law schools know about this website. Just like employers investigate who you really are before hiring you by checking out your facebook/twitter pages, I wonder if law schools do the same. *Shrug* Just a thought.

10/25/11: Interesting article in USA Today. Title: Law schools are pressed to tell the truth. Link: http://www.usatoday.com/news/education/story/2011-10-24/ABA-law-schools-student-debt/50898362/1

10/24/11: Wanted to say that my GPA is so low because my freshman year in college I was faced with a lot of adversity, therefore, I have 27 hours (9 classes) worth of F's on my transcript. After sitting out (because of academic suspension and in order to get things in my life together) I went back to school at 23 and had an upward swing in grades. I never made anything below a B upon returning to school. Without the F's on my transcripts, my GPA would be around a 3.4. The thing that drives me crazy is that I discovered had I stayed out of school for 1 more year, I could've applied for my college's academic forgiveness program, which essentially deletes all your grades (not just F's) and you start fresh with a new transcript. That would have been fine with me since I had to retake ALL the classes I took that 1st year anyhow! It's hard to recover from 27 academic hours of F's, no matter how many A's you make. *Shrug* Oh well. All I can do is go forward with what I have.

8/12/11: *Criminal record info: One bounced check in 2001 (misdemeanor in my state). No additional criminal charges OR traffic tickets of any kind since 2001. I added this information because I'm sure there are others that are seeking admission into law school with criminal records and I wanted people to see that it is possible to get into law school with a criminal record, provided your criminal record does not show a callous disregard for the law!

7/25/11: May 2011, Master of Science in Criminal Justice
Graduate GPA: 3.75

Hello fellow Georgian. Good luck on your apps! Is Georgia State your first choice? Can't beat that in state tuition haha! :)

Thanks!

Beth, Thanks for the kinds words and good luck on the LSAT. Waiting the three weeks to receive the results was awful. However, applying for several schools and waiting for months is even worse :-) Take care. Chris

Just wanted to say good luck. You'll probably be fine because of your master's. I know people say it doesn't mater, but it does. Trust me. My sister got into a T1 with similar scores. Anyways, good luck

Thanks

Monday, September 19 2011 at 08:00 PM

Thanks a lot Beth I have to admit I'm not conceited, but convinced that I wrote a wonderful personal statement. I have applied to 12 schools in total.

Thursday, October 13 2011 at 08:00 PM

I don't know what you meant by "smh the way some people carry on this website" from your 11/2 comment, but as long as someone is polite, I don't think there is anything wrong with being honest. can you clarify further?

Thursday, October 13 2011 at 08:00 PM

I understand where you're coming from. Maybe some adcom do look at LSN, maybe some don't. Instead of taking the cursing and the ranting too seriously, these adcoms should look at them as more of a motivation coming from a student. I'm sure anytime someone is rejected, all that person wants to do is prove them that they're wrong for rejecting him/her. That's how I would look at it if I was an adcom, but obviously I am not and perhaps slightly biased. Inner fire is a good thing.

Thursday, November 03 2011 at 08:00 PM

Thanks for the encouragement!! My bad GPA is for EXACTLY the same reason as your bad GPA. I'm really hoping that my personal statement is going to help explain and smooth that over, and I'm really hoping that they appreciate upward trends as much as they say! You are definitely situated to do just fine - URM status will help, and your masters degree will be a great asset for you in proving to them you can move past a rough start! Where in GA did you go to school? I'll keep my fingers crossed for you and good luck getting into your first choice!

thanks for the kind words, you are too nice, looking forward to see your first acceptance, as well as mine of course

Good Point
Wednesday, June 22 2011 at 08:00 PM

Good point regarding Stetson - changed the status back to pending. Also, I like your comment about the schools having access to this website. Pretty easy to match the GPA/LSAT to the application...

Wednesday, June 22 2011 at 08:00 PM

You were right.

Amen
Thursday, October 27 2011 at 08:00 PM

Thank you and i will be watching you too. Amen to everything you wrote. And i know by his grace and mercy you will be getting acceptances too soon. God bless

Thursday, November 03 2011 at 08:00 PM

The LSN e-mails didn't go to my junk folder, I was checking that, too. They just never sent any. I had to e-mail them four times before they decided to fix the issue. Awesome. By e-mail #4, I wasn't that nice lol. Good luck with Barry! Orlando is so awesome, so I wouldn't mind Barry at all if they offer some money to lower the price a bit. That sucks about Stetson, but, don't get discouraged! You've got lots of decisions left to come in and I'm sure good news is coming!

Tuesday, June 28 2011 at 08:00 PM

ugh! My friend told me she didn't find out about most schools she applied to until APRIL last cycle. APRIL?!! I don't think I have the mental strength to wait that long lol. BTW, bummer about Stetson but remember when God closes one door he opens another!! YOU GOT THIS! :)

Thursday, November 03 2011 at 08:00 PM

I was so shocked about the amount offered at Florida Coastal. A nearly full tuition scholarship is going to be really hard to pass up. I really do like Jacksonville, too, you're right about it being a nice city. It's four hours from where I'm at now, and I drive there for Chicago-style pizza and the beach occasionally lol. Since your GPA and my GPA have the same reasoning behind them, I bet you will have a really good offer too!

Thursday, October 13 2011 at 08:00 PM

bethbeth, we really need to get you that acceptance soon!

Saturday, October 08 2011 at 08:00 PM

Tomorrow is ur lucky day I feel it ! Lol I cant wait till u get In somewhere!

I'm with ^ them ^ up there!
Thursday, November 03 2011 at 08:00 PM

We need to get you some acceptances! It is so strange that your apps and mine were sent within a day or two and you haven't heard anything. I'm crossing my fingers for you, maybe today will be the day!

Saturday, October 08 2011 at 08:00 PM

Lol well I was off a day or two !

Re: That's What I'm Talking About
Monday, October 24 2011 at 08:00 PM

Hey. Thank you for the support. Just like you said. I think it's great to have some positive people out here to go against so much of the negativity present. I wish you the best of luck, and cannot wait to see your acceptances start rolling in.

Wednesday, June 15 2011 at 08:00 PM

Thanks for the help! Good luck with all your applications!!!!!

Thursday, October 13 2011 at 08:00 PM

relaxxxx lol. all the schools you applied to were late october the earliest...it's going to take over a month till decisions start rolling in. :P

Thursday, October 13 2011 at 08:00 PM

well true but if u look at my dates of sending and decision date, they were all a lil over a month. but im really waiting for the Hofstra and Toledo decisions, those are the ones that really count to me.

Saturday, October 08 2011 at 08:00 PM

Hey Beth you know what I think it is with you application . You have a low GPA but a good LSAT score for a minority. I went to the black preLaw conference this weekend and they told me they put applications in three piles , yes , no and maybe . The maybes get reviews by the admissions committe and they decide by taking a closer look at ur application "personal statement addedums, letters or recommendation ...." I think this is what is happening to your application at alot of the schools ... So it will take them a little while longer to get back to you. Bc it's hard to get everyone together .

Saturday, October 08 2011 at 08:00 PM

Sorry for all spelling and grammatical errors was typing on phone ... Lol

Good luck on Bama!
Thursday, August 04 2011 at 08:00 PM

It would be pretty rude of them to let you register for classes but not accept you. :)

:)
Tuesday, April 19 2011 at 08:00 PM

I've seen many of your kind comments on lsn. hope your cycle is great! :)

Saturday, October 08 2011 at 08:00 PM

Lol that's soo strange!

You have a point
Tuesday, June 28 2011 at 08:00 PM

Yes you're right! I will admit, maybe the blog post scared me more than it should have however with the high tuition of the school and them probably not offereing me money coupled with the cost of living in the area..I didn't want to risk it you know?

thanks!
Thursday, November 03 2011 at 08:00 PM

Thanks for that info about FIU - I'm actually really happy to know that because I was really afraid it meant I had instantly gone in the "hell no!" pile. We need to get you some of those acceptances rolling in ASAP! It can't be long!

About uga
Tuesday, June 28 2011 at 08:00 PM

Thank you so much beth beth! You are always so kind! :):)

don't give up!
Thursday, November 03 2011 at 08:00 PM

Awwww, no! Don't say you're in the hell no pile. One of my professors who wrote a letter of recommendation for me kept telling me when I was freaking out, "It only takes one!" She's right - it just takes one acceptance, just the right school to appreciate what you've gone! It will happen for you, the universe is just testing your patience right now! :)

Monday, October 03 2011 at 08:00 PM

I have been watching your profile. I just want to wish you good luck. This cycle is far from over.

Exhaustive list
Tuesday, August 02 2005 at 08:00 PM

So are the schools listed the only schools that you're applying to or will you add more to the mix? If not, then it really is just a waiting game for you now. :)

Turn around
Saturday, May 21 2011 at 08:00 PM

things wil turn around soon :-)

Waiting
Saturday, May 21 2011 at 08:00 PM

I know the feeling. If i didnt have school to keep my mind busy, the wait would be drivin me crazy

Hey!
Sunday, March 15 2009 at 08:00 PM

Stay encouraged bethbeth519. There WILL be schools that recognize your talent and ability..:)

Tuesday, June 28 2011 at 08:00 PM

Thank you so much!! And Emory would be amazing but unless I get adopted by Daddy Warbucks in the next few weeks I doubt I would even be able to attend lol! As always, I am sending good vibes your way! I've got my fingers and toes crossed for you! :) :)

good vibes your way!
Thursday, November 03 2011 at 08:00 PM

I'm still sending good vibes your way! Can't wait to hear about those acceptances!

Sunday, December 11 2011 at 07:00 PM

I saw you're also waitlisted at Barry University. Do you know how likely it is to get in from their list or how may people it consists of?

Thursday, October 13 2011 at 08:00 PM

Beth, if you do plan on applying in the future again, then best of luck to you!
