Scholarships for all three years

10/05/09 Got in at Cooley, excited to be officially going to law school next year, even if it is just Cooley so far. Also got a 75% tuition waiver. Hopefully the first of a few acceptances.

12/25/09 Finally getting most of my apps in, had to wait due to letters of recommendation writers dragging their feet.

01/04/10 Got in at Roger Williams via phone call, and 50% tuition waiver.

01/09/10 All done with applications, now the stressful wait...

01/16/10 In at Arkansas, small white envelope. Also received a $10,000 scholarship for the first year (to keep it must stay in the top 20% of class for 2nd and 3rd years and it reverts to 5,000 a year), and a helpful explanation of the process to apply for instate tuition which sounds like it would be easy to do.

01/23/10 Received a phone call early this morning letting me know that I had been accepted at Hamline. A packet should follow this week.

01/30/10 Large white packet from Hamline, 60% tution waiver.

02/05/10 Received a small white envelope from Marquette, so thin I thought it might be my first rejection, but I was relieved to find a brief acceptance letter with the promise of more information to come.

02/08/10 Waitlisted at LSU via small white letter. Kind of bummed but at least its not a rejection. It says that they will get back to me in May! I don't think I will wait that long to decide so I hope they are exaggerating a bit.

02/09/10 In at Hofstra via Email. Letter to follow.

02/10/10 Got a large envelope from Valparaiso today, accepted but no mention of scholarship. Will probably start withdrawing from some of these schools soon.

02/16/2010 Two large envelopes today, one with scholarship info for Marquette, $4,000 a year, and the other an acceptance to Drake with $12,500 a year scholarship.

02/22/2010 Recieved two envelopes in the mail today, one weird one from WVU saying that I wasn't admitted or rejected. The other was from Hofstra with a $20,000 a year scholarship renewable if I stay in the top 40% of my class.

03/01/2010 Got my first rejection today from Lewis and Clark. Oh well I have more or less decided I want to leave the pacific northwest anyways, still it was the highest ranked school I applied to and it would have been nice to have been admitted.

03/02/2010 Ouch two rejections in a row! Penn State informed me via email today. I knew it was a bit of a stretch so I am not really that disappointed.

03/06/2010 In at Northern Illinois, no mention of a scholarship. At this point I am greatly leaning towards Arkansas. It recently rose to tier two status, its cheap, and from what Ive read dominates the legal market of Arkansas.

03/09/2010 In at Albany via status checker. I recieved a packet a few days later. Large envelope.

03/20/2010 Rejected at Seton Hall. Small white envelope.

03/26/2010 Got into WVU finally, small white envelope.

03/29/2010 Recieved an email from St. Louis, I'm in with a 24,000 scholarship over three years. Packet to follow in the mail.

05/172010 I am now all signed up to attend the University of Arkansas.

William Mitchell? William Mitchell seems to be a much stronger school in the region judging by the fact that almost every judge in the state is a WM alum and WM alums make up the bulk of most law firms. Just curious on your reasoning.

Sorry I screwed up a cut and paste... just curious of your reasoning for hamline over WM

Actually a friend of mine went to Hamline and said she really liked it, and that they give generous scholarships. So I applied. Not one of my top schools though.

Nice $$$

how were you notified of wait list at LSU?

LSU

I wonder how long we will have to wait too! Is it high on your list?

Wednesday, February 17 2010 at 07:00 PM

We have similar stats. Congrats on the acceptances thus far, and I hope more good news comes!

Thanks. I got into the application process very late in the cycle. So, I am thinking either Drake in the fall (assuming I'm accepted), or an aggressive application campaign next year.

Quite a few people are getting the same thing from WVU (Sadly I didn't get in) Just think its weird they are sending letters like that to people with well above the median LSAT scores.

I'm in the same boat as you. Why not just call it a waitlist?

Arkansas rank
Tuesday, October 27 2009 at 08:00 PM

I thought they were T1? Ranked 94 this year at least.

Re: Arkansas Rank

Yeah the ranking terms that are thrown about seem to vary. I think you are correct about current terminology, but in the past Tier 1 was top 50 and Tier 2 was 50 - 100. This seems to be the verbage that many still use so I was just going with that.

Hello! Congrats on your decision to join us at UArk! I am a rising 1L and would be happy to answer any questions you might have (that you don't want to discuss with someone who works there). Feel free to contact me on the school email. And we like to say we are in Tier one.... also, we are higher than 94 now...up in the 80's because our moot teams are kicking ass and taking names!
