Additional info & updates

By request, to achieve my 12 point jump, here's what I did:

I studied a bit before the 156 but decided I could do much better (and WAS doing better on my practice tests)

The bulk of my improvement came from doing LSAT after LSAT, timed EVERY time. SOmetimes I did a whole test, sometimes just a section, sometimes just one game or reading comp (8:45 per game/reading comp passage) Time yourself religiously.

I moved from doing single parts in a certain amount of time to doing the whole test as such.

I got techniques down very well and practiced those.

The books I used were:

Powerscore Logical Reasoning Bible
Powerscore Logic Games Bible
Powerscore Ultimate Setups guide
NOVAs Master the LSAT (the reading comp section ONLY)
Every published set of 10 official LSATs and I ordered many individual tests from lsac.

To gauge where you are, it's best to use the most recent test possible because it will be the most similar to the LSAT you will be taking.

Applied to most schools in October and told them all to hold off until they received my December LSAT score, so everything went complete the beginning on January.

W&L; I didn't realize I needed a Dean's Cert, so it went out and I became complete much later.

1-25: Priority mail from IU-B, got in! Plus scholarship! And a handwritten note from Asst. Dean. I'm impressed. A great way to start off the cycle.

1-26: Out at American, small letter in snail mail.

2-1: Deferred at SMU PT. I heard alot of people have been deferred. I thought I was a shoe-in. Not in at any Texas schools yet. Oh well. Crossing my fingers for GWU.

2-5: Accepted at Loyola Chicago. Accepted at Seton Hall. I'm doing pretty well this cycle!

2-8: Loyola Dean calls to welcome me to Loyola and congrats on the acceptance. I really love when schools give personal attention.

2-10: Out at Ohio via snail mail.

2-13: In @ George Mason. Very happy about this, applied PT and FT and got in FT via a call from the dean. Looking forward to seeing if they offer me a scholarship.

2-23: In @ W&L via email. Wow!

2-24: Went to decision on Michigan's online status checker. One week and I'll know...

2-28: Out at Texas via envelope in the mail. *tear* Out at Florida. Meh.

3-3: Sent emails withdrawing from Case Western, Seton Hall, STCL, Arizona State and Loyola Chicago.

I'm in the same boat. I applied to a lot of schools when I had my 158. Then I get my 167 and I want to apply to a few more. I'll probably do one more (UVA) to hit 21 applications. Anyway, good luck this cycle. That LSAT will get you far.

And we're both applying to SMU - best of luck. I'll be watching your apps with interest.

with our LSAT's.. I sure hope you're correct. I looked through the LSN history on SMU and nobody with an LSAT of 167+ has ever been rejected, but then again nobody with a GPA like ours has applied either. You've got some options at least, I only have SMU due to family. Lets hope they go easy on us :)

apply anyway! I don't think they're averaging them now. They gave me a scholarship based on my highest. Definitely, definitely apply!!

I got the letter that I was deferred from SMU today too. Bummer. I don't know how to interpret this other than it means a few more months of waiting. Congrats on your acceptance so far, at least you know you're going to school this year!

I got a speeding ticket once when I was 16, that must have been it. :/ Hoping for GWU, I want to be in the DC area. If not GWU then hopefully Mason pulls through for me.

Only GW's complete date is an estimate, the other dates are accurate. You'll get into GW-PT, they like high LSAT's.

Congrats!
