Additional info & updates

09/17/08 - Waiting on my LORS to apply for a few schools and then for the Oct. LSAT for the remainder.

10/25/08 - Bumped up my LSAT score by a few points. Still not what I wanted but whatever. Sent my first application to a safety school to see how the application process goes.

11/5/08 - I couldn't wait any longer on my last LORS so I submitted my applications to Quinnipiac and Marqutte. I figured since they gave me fee waivers I would have some sort of chance getting in. Hopefully it will go well.

11/12/08 - Phone call this afternoon from SIU admissions. Accepted! YAY! Said they were mailing me an admission packet and scholarship information tomorrow. SO EXCITED! Also I got my last LOR today so I'm applying to DePaul and JMLS very soon!

11/18/08 - Earlier I had met with the Director of Admissions at DePaul for a law day and he told me to let him know when I submitted my application. My file was complete according to LSAC today so I emailed him and let him know. He was very prompt in responding and said I would have a response in 2-3 weeks which is amazing because I submitted my application 2 days ago.

11/20/08-WOW it only took Marquette a week to get back to me instead of the eight that they originally said. Accepted. Although I don't like their shenanigans with the small envelope, nearly gave me a heart attack.

12/13/08 - Waitlisted at DePaul...not going to make decisions easier. Also got a packet from MU that says seat deposit money is due April 15th.

12/18/08- Accepted at Quinnipiac via email. Letter to follow.

1/8/08 - Got back from winter break. Acceptance at John Marshall with $14,000 a year. Letter from Quinnipiac for $20,000 a year and a request to come for an interview to up scholarship money. Since I'm from Chicago John Marshall is probably the most cost efficent option but I really like Marquette..

I'm DYING waiting for DePaul too. I submitted by app on 10/02. Called them on Friday 11/14 and they said I would be hearing within two weeks. AHH just tell me!

Wow..sorry

Sorry for all these posts...I just re-read your comment though. The letter from John Marshall said "based on your academic record, we're giving you this scholarship, blah blah" so I have no idea why they gave me $36K...but I'm not going to question it!

Did the letter to Marquette say that they would be contacting you soon? If so, have they contacted you yet? Thanks and congrats.

Hey good luck on your cycle as well! I have thought about it, but I don't really like Milwaukee that much. No particular reason, I just didn't find it all that appealing the handful of times I've been there. I'd rather go to John Marshall in Chicago with money than Marquette. As for DePaul...I think you'll be accepted rather than waitlisted. Your GPA is much better than mine and your LSAT is still in their range. Why aren't you applying to Kent or Loyola?

Waitlisted at DePaul

Congrats on your acceptance!!! Are you going to pursue DePaul any further being that you were accepted to other schools?

Sorry to hear that :(

What didn't you like about Loyola? From people I've talked to, they like Loyola and Kent over DePaul. But everyone is different I guess. Yeah that is a huge plus. That is super appealing.

Thanks!

Thanks! Congrats on your cycle so far. I'm getting so anxious for Marquette. It's one of my favorites.

I agree
Thursday, July 31 2008 at 08:00 PM

Oh I completely agree. I just don't know what some people like and dislike about Kent/Loyola/DePaul and if I don't get flat out rejected by Kent and Loyola I'm gonna have to figure out what to do about intentions on the waitlists etc...Gahh I wish I knew where I was going next year haha.

Wow...

your cycle is almost over! Any idea where you're going to go?

Thanks!

I love Marquette too. I'm really hoping they'll give out scholarships, and soon, to at least make them competitive with Mizzou. Because Mizzou is most likely where I'll end up. It's in-state and public for me, which makes it very cheap. Plus, it's a great school. I can't really turn that down for a school that costs twice as much in tuition.

congrats!
