Additional info & updates

I know A LOT of these schools are a long shot, but why not.

I am not going to go making excuses for my LSAT score..... But I had been scoring a constant 164 on the real practice tests and just crashed and burned on the reading comp that I had been doing really well on... Ok, I guess that was an excuse. I don't want to deal with taking the test again for 3 to 5 points more (even though they could make a world of differnce). I also don't want to wait another year and start paying back student loans.

My hopefuls on this list are UIL Champain, U of Georgia, Indiana U Bloomington, U of Arizona, U Cal Davis, and U of Wisconsin Madison. I would love to stay at UT Austin, but I am doubtful. The forecasted rejections are obvious and the rest I wouldn't mind attending. So we will see.... ... .. . .

1/12/07 Just got accepted to University of Kentucky, and only one month after electronically sending my ap through LSDAS! Scholarship decisions soon to come. Definitely on my top 8 list right now.

1/12/07 Guess I better go buy that scrap book now. Just got denied from U cal Hastings. Whatever. It is in the ghetto anyways. : )

2/16/07 ACCEPTANCE! To IU BLOOMINGTON! Really excited about this. My ap became complete and I had an emailed acceptance only 11 days later!

2/20/07 On "preferred waitlist" for Maryland. They say everyone on that list eventually gets accepted. Don't think I want to go here anyways though.

Also got the IU packet today. Nothing about scholarship money... I doubt they would give me any... Its ok though because I did get an IU Law bumper sticker!

2/20/07 (again) I wish these schools would hurry up because checking my email and online status constantly is giving me carpel tunnel.

3/6/07 Got rejected from Georgia today. Pretty upset about that. It was on my top 3. Oh well, I saw they only matriculate a certain percent from out of state (about 1/4) and my LSAT isn't awesome so I guess I can understand this. Indiana is looking better and better.... They came here for a meet and greet at a fancy restaurant and gave me free expensive wine and shrimp. That pretty much sealed the deal.

3/7/07 I had a dream last night that Harvard accepted me because they "liked my essay." .... I woke myself up because I was laughing so hard in my sleep.

3/8/07 That was the nicest rejection letter on the planet! Berkeley rejects a lot of people so I am sure they have rejection down to an art!

3/9/07 Deferred at Minnesota! Very surprising! I was really expecting a flat out no, but this is pretty cool.... Also online check changed to "DECISION" for Michigan... ... .. . . .

3/20/07 Again, "DECISION" with Georgetown..... .. .. . . . (that means I know its a rejection)

3/23/07 Emailed Illnois asking about status and they said I should have gotten a "deferred" email and they were sorry I hadn't received it. Seems like that seems to be the general trend with all of these top 50 schools. At least their thinking about it : )

3/29/07 Rejected from Davis... Like I could really afford 37,000 a yr + CA living expenses anyway...

3/30/07 US NEWS AND WORLD REPORT NEW RANKINGS!!!

4/6/07 I am soooo tired of waiting on Wisconsin and Arizona to make a decision. Just when I think I have a decision, I get the "waitlist" from Madison.... So I guess that means more waiting!

4/16/07 Harvard obvious No. San Diego: 36,000 tuition a year, 2 part mail-in to stay on waitlist, may not tell you if you got in from the waitlist until the last week before classes start....

4/21/07 HEY GUYS! WITHDREW everywhere. Taking the LSAT again and waiting a year. Glad I went through it once and know realistic schools to apply to with whatever score I receive, etc... GOOD LUCK

4/23/07 Too little too late Maryland. Phone call offering admission..

4/24/07 Ok, I guess what I said on 4/21 was a lie. I didn't withdraw everywhere. I am still waiting to hear on some waitlists and deferrals. I am 98% sure that I will still withdraw though.... Today Illinois sent me an email telling me that I was on their unranked priority waitlist... So now I am kind of confused because I really just thought that was going to be a flat out rejection... And I already registered again for the September LSAT... lol

It took each of them about 2 months from the time the application was submitted until they mailed a decision. Good luck to you with your applications. I don't think I have any more acceptances coming. I've pretty much narrowed it down to Cleveland State, Louisville, and Oklahoma City. I really liked the atmosphere at OCU, and it's currently in the lead. I visit CSU in a few weeks, so we'll see how that goes. U of L will only stay in the running if they come through with some scholarship money. I have my doubts about that happening.

Hey
Thursday, September 28 2006 at 08:00 PM

Best of luck to you on your cycle...I have withdrawn from quite a few places, it is basically between ASU, Denver and American now. I am sure you will end up somewhere great!

UK
Thursday, December 07 2006 at 07:00 PM

Congrats on UK. I'm finished my undergrad there so if you have any questions about the law school, the campus, or the city in general I will be happy to help you out.

Lexington, KY
Thursday, December 07 2006 at 07:00 PM

I laughed when I saw your apps. We both took the "shotgun approach to admissions'. Classic. "Yea, you will definitely have seasons here in KY and that may take some time to get used to, but relatively speaking the seasons are mild. Lexington is beautiful. I have lived many places and must say that I have grown very fond of Lexington. It is a nice size town (about 240K) so there are good opportunities but it is no NYC. The general demeanor of the population is VERY friendly. All-in-all, it is a wonderful place to live and go to school. The only negative I would argrue is the law building is not very appealing. They are planning on having a new building built in the next few years, but I don't think we would get more than one year's use of it (if that). Let me know if you decide to come up to visit. I will be happy to show you around. Also, you may want to send a message to "tcutts" on here. He flew in and I showed him around the city and school. He would probably be able to give you a more unbiased opinion of the school and the city. If you want to ask me anything directly, send me an e-mail and I'll give you my phone #. Good luch on the rest of your cycle!

Fee waivers
Thursday, December 07 2006 at 07:00 PM

I can't imagine how much you ended up paying for those apps! I tried to figure out how much it would have been for me without the waivers and it made my head hurt. I guess being broke does pay off! Haha, good luck on the rest of your cycle.

Indiana
Thursday, December 07 2006 at 07:00 PM

Congrats on Indiana! I got the e-mail today as well. I haven't visited there yet. Do you plan on visiting? I think it is only a few hours from here so I think I may drive up there sometime. Keep up the good work!

Indiana
Thursday, December 07 2006 at 07:00 PM

I've talked to some people who go there and they say it is really a beautiful place. The town is a little small but not terrible. I've got a membership to vault, so if you want to read what they have to say about career prospects or whatever let me konw (or any other school for that matter). Have a great weekend.

Wow
Wednesday, July 12 2006 at 08:00 PM

Thank you so much for your lovely comments. I'm blown away by both your sincerity and sweetness. I'll be keeping a close eye on your acceptances (as I'm sure you'll have many) so I can be sure to congratulate you!

Midwest
Wednesday, July 12 2006 at 08:00 PM

You love the Midwest? So that means you're from? Went to B-School at Ross (UMich). Thanks for the myspace link. I wish I had myspace or facebook hooked up but I'm sorry I don't. One of these days I'll get ambitious and spill out my heart and soul to total strangers ;)

Good question
Wednesday, June 28 2006 at 08:00 PM

Well, I've still got 5/11 schools pending, but I'm leaning heavily toward WashU as of now. If I got into Vandy/GW/Cornell, I'd prolly withdrawl from IU and UIUC.

I'm not sure yet
Wednesday, September 13 2006 at 08:00 PM

I haven't really narrowed it down too much, although Arizona is in state for me. I agree with you about the Berkeley rejection letter. I actually applied there simply to receive their friendly rejection.

Quinnipiac haha
Wednesday, September 13 2006 at 08:00 PM

I figured if I applied there, they'd stop sending me mailings telling me to apply. Instead the volume of solicitations has increased. I just got a letter last week asking me to consider applying to Quinnipiac... after they had already admitted me. I would be so happy if I got into Texas. I'm not holding my breath though... I'm not really competive at all there, plus I'm out of state. How do you feel about your chances there?

Wednesday, October 18 2006 at 08:00 PM

I am probably going to enroll at Kent in the fall, but still have to take a trip to Iowa. It's a tough decision between Minnesota, Iowa, and Kent though.

Thanks!
Wednesday, July 12 2006 at 08:00 PM

Hey Again, thanks for the great comment. Have you updated your LSN? Cuz from here it looks like your cycle isn't even half over?! I'll be rootin' for ya!

Congrats
Thursday, December 07 2006 at 07:00 PM

Good job on UF. I heard they were expecting a pretty substantial drop in the rankings this year since they are doubling the size of their incoming class (not saying I put much stock in the rankings, but thought you might want to know). Is Indiana still your #1? Keep up the good work.

Illinois
Wednesday, September 13 2006 at 08:00 PM

What prompted you to e-mail them?

AZ WTH?
Wednesday, December 27 2006 at 07:00 PM

Still no word from UofA? Isn't waiting the worst? I think you have a really good chance there. Would you go there if you got in? It'd probably be an easy transition from Texas.

Bloomington
Wednesday, September 13 2006 at 08:00 PM

I really want to visit IUB before May 1st. What's it like there? Do you think it's boring to live in a small town in Indiana? I think it could be.

I've got Facebook
Wednesday, September 13 2006 at 08:00 PM

no myspace

San Diego
Monday, May 09 2005 at 08:00 PM

Could not agree with you more regarding USD. They started as one of my favorites and after being complete for 6 and a half months without any form of communication I get waitlisted. You couldnt pay me to go there at this point. Just felt like the wait and lack of communication throughout the process was completely unprofessional.

Wow
Wednesday, September 13 2006 at 08:00 PM

Good luck then. I thought you were excited about Bloomington. What happened? Are you just looking for more $$? Good luck next cycle!

haha
Wednesday, September 13 2006 at 08:00 PM

It's all so confusing! Thanks for the good wishes... but I don't think you're right. Are you gonna look at Illinois next cycle? Or are you still going to stick out this cycle and see what happens at UIUC?

Haha $5
Wednesday, September 13 2006 at 08:00 PM

It's worth more than $5 if I get in to UIUC, but it's a bet. Did you write a LOCI to Minn? I'll send you mine if you want to get an idea of what I said.

Too cold
Wednesday, September 13 2006 at 08:00 PM

Yeah... it's probably too cold for me too. Apparently it's winter there from like September until April... pretty rediculous. But it's only 3 years.

Thanks...
Sunday, March 12 2006 at 07:00 PM

for the info on MD! I'm regular waitlist so I'll just keep waiting. : )

Looks like you owe me $5
Wednesday, September 13 2006 at 08:00 PM

I'll forgive you though ;)

So what's the decision?
Wednesday, September 13 2006 at 08:00 PM

Have you made one?

No
Wednesday, September 13 2006 at 08:00 PM

I'm bad at decisions, and this is a tough one. So, what are you going to do for a year? Get a job? Isn't that the reason people go to law school... to delay getting a real job as long as possible? ;)

currrious
Friday, February 09 2007 at 07:00 PM

what happened to you? Where'd you end up?
