Good luck with GSU. I'll keep an eye on your profile to see what happens.
Hey!! It feels like a lifetime ago that we were in mock trial together! Getting Tom Jones to write you a letter is very impresive. As far as I know, nobody else ever got him to write a letter. It sucks that the LSAC screwed with your GPA. I hope the schools you applied to know that you're a different student than you were before GSU. If GSU offers me some $$, I'll see you there!
By the way, I got a small envelope from GSU, so don't get scared if you don't see a big package in the mail. -Fabian
Just thought I'd let you know that I did not get the email you got yesterday, so it didn't go out to everyone. I feel left out. :) Here's hoping it's good news for you.
Congrats on your acceptance! It's nice to be in at your first choice. I see that you go/went to GSU for undergrad. Do you have any opinions on the school? Obviously if its your first choice you must like it.
I was born there and visit family there very often. I never feel safe there no matter where I am and I have too much family (that I don't like) down there. LOL. I love big cities but ATL is not for me unfortunately. GSU sounds like a great school at a great price.
Awesome! Still waiting to hear myself, but here's hoping we're classmates next year!
That's Awesome news! I didn't get a letter telling me about a minority scholarship but, I did get one about a scholarship for those who are going into the IP field. Is GSU it for you or will you go to UGA or Emory if all goes well with them?
I truly understand about graduating with little to no debt. My wife and I got the Hope, so I feel that I can spend a little when it comes to law school. Thus, I think I might end up at UGA. Emory's financial aid offers are not mailed 'till march, so that may change things if I get enough $$$ so that I'm going to Emory at UGA/GSU prices.
yeah, you're probably right. I guess what I thought was they compare you to the pool of applicants that applied around the same time... but I guess not. It would be more beneficial for them to accept some ppl at first and then the questionable ones later... I'm kinda worried though considering I applied in December and I still haven't heard anything yet... maybe it means I wont be accepted? :(
My wife is going to graduate from GSU with a degree in Math and unless she finds a math job that doesn't require a master's degree or PhD, she'll be a high school math teacher. The good thing about being a math teach is that she can pretty much find a job anywhere. So to give you a long answer to your question, we'll be moving to Athens or wherever I end up. Also, the rent in Athens is dirt cheep!! I'm currently paying $1064/month for a 1 bedroom apartment in midtown and a bigger 1 bedroom in Athens is $600-700/month!
hey, yeah I guess you're right... i'm going to keep on praying but i'm so stressed out... I really wish they didn't take so long. I'm pretty sure my seat deposit for Mercer is due 3/1 and I thought I would have an answer from GSU by then... i'm so confused. I don't know what to do. I live in Atlanta and I'd have to commute to Mercer if I went there... I don't even know if that's possible.
heyyy you were right... it is april. i don't know where I got march from... well that makes me feel a little better.
I got a letter from GSU about an IP scholarship that gives out 3 prizes: One full-ride and two $10k/year for 3 year prizes. I got a letter about that same scholarship from other schools too, so it's probably a big scholarship fund. You should look into it since you want to do IP. I don't know if you remember Tim Blair (white, older guy from mock trial) but him, Thomas Wong from GSU, and me are probably going to start an immigration practice on the side since between us we speak 5 languages and Thomas has worked for an immigration firm before. Other than that, I don't know what I'll practice. Whatever seems interesting after my 1st year I guess. Good luck with GSU! Hopefully they cough-up some money for you.
Congrats on GSU!!! Good luck with Emory and UGA. I've been wailisted, deferred, and rejected but no acceptance yet.
rejected... is south asian (not chinese or japanese or anything) not considered an URM? im so upset.
I decided to go with UGA because even though I got $54K from Emory, I'm still $65K in the hole. Without any scholarships, UGA's tuition is around $36k for all 3 years. Unless, one of the out-of-state schools that has put me on their waitlist accepts me, I'll be going to UGA. Good luck at GSU!
Congrats on GSU!!!
Way to go on Mercer! I guess you have to stay in Georgia. GSU is tough to get into, but it's a great school. I know a JD grad from GSU who started at $70K. We both could have used a little higher score on the LSAT , but we'll make it! And once we do, they better look out!
