Additional info & updates

Non Traditional Student, out of school for 6 years, have a 2 year old daughter. LSAT kicked my ass. Damned LSAT.

I applied LEOP to Hastings and Special Admissions to USF and SCU. For GGU I applied to the Honors Lawyering Program and the Public Interest Scholars Program.

2/24--Letter from USF (small white envelope) dated 2/23. Waitlist. This cannot be a good sign. Oh well.

3/4--Letter from SCU (small white envelope) dated 3/3. Straight up rejection. Ouch man, that really hurt.

3/9--Letter from Boalt dated 3/6. Rejection. Not very painful becuase it was totally expected. Also, the most compassionate letter so far!

4/19--Letter from GGU dated 4/17. Admission! First one. $45,000 faculty scholarship over 3 years. not admitted to the Honors Lawyersing Program, but on the short waitlist for the Public Interets Scholars program.
5/2--Letter accepting me to the Public Interest Scholars Program with an additional $15,000 over 3 years.

5/6--Letter dated 5/5 (sm white env) from Davis: Waitlist. My status checker was not updated until Monday.

5/16--Hastings = Waitlist. I may very well lose my mind in the next few months.

The Waiting is the hardest part. . . .(Tom Petty?)

6/7/06 HASTINGS. YES! Finally. Worth the wait. Although I applied LEOP, I was not admitted LEOP.

hi--im writing you because your stats are very similar to mine (152, 3.67) and i noticed that you applied to santa clara. seeing that you went to school in the bay area, i am assuming that you know more about santa clara than myself. what do u think your chances are of getting in to scu? is scu very competetive? overall, what's scu like? thank you for your time.

Hi! No, I didn't apply to USF ED. Just regular application, but I did send it in at the begninning of October, so maybe that is why I heard so soon. I was definitely surprised, I was planning on hearing from Santa Clara first since they had EA. Oh well, at least it was a good surprise! Good luck with all your apps, I will keep an eye on your LSN - maybe we will end up at the same place!

on my uc davis online status page, it says that it was last updated 12.03.05, so i guess its different for everyone. davis is taking their sweet time with the decisions. its pretty frustrating. regarding a good leop candidate, i would think that one would need some substantial challenges that impacted their academics. but for u, i wouldn't worry. u have an awesome gpa and great WE. i actually heard that some schools weigh gpa more than lsats. good luck with everything and yes - it would awesome if we could be classmates at hastings. :D

I heard via USPS-- as to where I will be attending, I'm hoping the Hastings waitlist comes through, or Cal would be fine too... Good luck to you!

Santa Clara

This whole cycle just seems crazy. All the schools are so worried about numbers, they don't appear to want to even give any of the rest of us a chance. Good luck

good luck!

just want to wish a fellow bay area native goodluck. lets hope those adcoms look beyond the stupid numbers, and actually take a look at our resumes.

Good Luck

Hopefully you will have the same luck as me. Univ. of Utah adcoms looked past my numbers and decided to take a chance, couldn't be more happier. Crossing my fingers for you!

What do you know about USF? Worth the arm and leg?

Davis
Monday, February 27 2006 at 07:00 PM

There were about 60 admits there. Most still seemed undecided. (Only 3 that I talked to were certain.) Many were weighing between Hastings and Davis. As you probably noticed, I withdrew from Hastings after the event. The small class size (nearly 1/3 the size of Hastings) and the beautiful location at Davis sold me. I think the personal attention available by faculty, studentbody, and administration will be worth it's weight in gold. They didn't give any indication as to pending applications so I can't help you there. But if you do get the chance to go to Davis, you couldn't go wrong! (Just my opinion!) Best of luck!

Re: WTF

I can understand that many would feel, based on your statistics, that an acceptance to Hastings is a bit out of the ordinary. I understand the LEOP application process, but I don't undertand an acceptance outside of it, again on numbers. There must be something very special about you that is not evident here and was not picked up by all the other schools except Golden Gate.. I am realy confused by this. You were rejected from some pretty low level schools and in at Hastings. Wow!! No sour grapes. Congratulations!!!
