Personal statement about an extreme hardship I went through and how i fought for justice.

I wear sunglasses at night and flip flops year round. If that doesn't help my chances of getting in, I don't know what would!!

Additional info & updates

Received is date the school requested my LSDAS report

I hate this waiting game!! The highlight of my day is checking my mail/email... pathetic i know, especially when i get nothing in the mail!

UNLV and South Carolina both said decisions would probably be made in April. now that is just lovely

Decisions
Cal Western - Phone call from admissions, then two small letters came the next day stating i was admitted

St Louis - Large packet

Texas Tech - Called to check on app status, told me I was accepted yesterday and letter went out. Small envelope stating that I was accepted and awarded in state tuition plus $1000

Miami - Small envelope, thought for sure it was either you are complete since I didn't apply too long ago or that you were rejected. Could not believe i was admitted!!

Gonzaga - letter mailed to my permanent address, my mom read it to me over the phone. $12,000 annual scholarship

Threw in a last minute app to University of Utah, I know I probably don't have much of a shot there, but need to atleast try.

Utah - Acceptance came via phone call from Dean Aguilar. He said my file went through review yesterday and packet was also mailed yesterday. Impressed with the quick turn around. Will probably visit the first or second week of April

Visited Utah, I love the location of the school and feel it will be a nice change from Arizona.

4/15 - Looks like I've been the first to be waitlisted from U of A.

4/24 - Waitlisted at KU

Not such a great week - 3 waitlists and a rejection. Oh well I would have picked Utah over all 4.

5/18 - What is the deal with ASU??? I can't believe it's mid may and I haven't heard anything.

Hey thanks and good luck yourself. This is a pretty competitive app. cycle. UNLV mailed a letter saying my file was complete, and decisions prob wouldn't be made until April. Waiting sucks, but GO CATS!

Hey, I saw your post on kirk's page for Texas Tech. Don't worry, you will definitely get into Tech - they really value a good GPA. You are set for them! Good luck on the rest of your apps!

Thanks! I think that you definitely have a shot. Your GPA is very high and your LSAT is within their range. Good luck!

Good Luck!

We have almost the same numbers.. You should get into Texas Tech.. Miami deferred me.. SO frustrating! Waiting is torture.

Aye....

They sent the same info in the e-mail. The April date seems like a safety for them. We should here earlier, if I were to bet. We'll see. If I get in, I am 99% sure I am going. I live here. work here. kids in school here. Own home here. As well as in-state $.

Congrats

Just wanted to say congrats about Cal Western. Maybe I'll see ya there! If you don't mind my asking, did you get any $ from them?

and good luck to you. Yeah the AZ schools are taking their time (although I know I don't have a great shot at either). I wonder what's the hold up?

That is weird... I wonder if your GPA helped you since it's a little higher than mine...

Congrats... Hope I can share in your good fortune and join you there. Great school but it cost a pretty penny... Or a billion of them.

Miami

Yes I would be happy there... Although my numbers are stronger than yours (no offense)... I am worried that I have applied too late to get accepted. Best wishes.

Congrats

on your acceptances so far. . .we applied to like 6 of the same schools.

Congrats to you!

I hope you receive many more positive letters in the mail! I totally understand about parents asking and asking about law school... guess good things come to those who wait!

I need it!

Hey, thanks for the well wishes and congrats on your acceptance there! I think you will really like the atmosphere and people at TTU. Lubbock doesn't look great on the outside, but the people inside are wonderful! Say a prayer for me at 2pm! And let us know how your visit goes on LSD (thread: Texas Tech Fall 2006).

UTAH

Congrats on Utah! Hopefully I'll see you there this fall (I'll look for the flip flops). How did you receive your acceptance?

Utah
Thursday, January 05 2006 at 07:00 PM

What was your visit to Utah like? I've been waitlisted (ug!) and I'm trying to decide whether to wait it out or go elsewhere. Utah is my first choice, but I don't want to lose scholarships elsewhere by waiting.

Oh my goodness!
Wednesday, October 26 2005 at 08:00 PM

Whoa, thank you!! I can't believe you decided to withdraw from Tech, I know it must have been a very difficult decision. You will do great at Utah, though, and I wish you the best of success! Thank you for your kind words and for offering to give me your spot -- I wish you could give it to me, too! :-) I'm hoping to hear good news soon. Thanks again and congratulations on all your acceptances...kick some butt in law school!

KU

why is kansas taking their sweet time?

Indiana
Thursday, January 05 2006 at 07:00 PM

Good question on Indiana. I was about set on going to Kansas until yesterday. Somehow I don't think the U is interested in another white LDS male. Indiana is a really good school and I'm a little surprised to get accepted outright. The only problem is that out-of-state tuition is expensive ($27,500/yr). I'm hoping I'll get a scholarship that will bring that cost down to around the price of KU. If so, I think I'm going to Indiana. If not, we'll see. It will be a tough decision. As for Utah, the appeal there is that it's still a good school and resident tuition would be cheap compared to the others. I also live in Utah right now, so I wouldn't have to move my family. We'll see.

Thanks!
