Additional info & updates

7/24 FINALLY finished paperwork. Heading for AA on Monday...
4/19- Finally visiting Ann Arbor- really enjoying the campus and area. Knew I'd love the school itself. Hoping 75 degree weather not unduly influencing me, but will go ahead and make it official.
4/15- Berkeley will not be matching- not at all surprised- somewhat relieved, actually.
3/3- Now counting down the weeks until I can destroy my pager- suggestions welcome.
2/15- offer of Dean's scholarship at UCLA one week after withdrawal. Honored, but feeling obscurely ungrateful
2/11- Cornell letter about interview dated day after they acknowledged my withdrawal. Odd.
2/8- Looked at email suggestion for writing "why Harvard" essay, realized I had nothing to say, and withdrew
Withdrawing from remaining schools except for UM, Berkeley, Chicago, and Columbia.
UM is by far the most likely at this point, but I'm going to visit these four before signing on the dotted line.
2/7- In at U Chicago- very pleasant phone conversation with Anne Perry.
Time to figure out visits....hope flight prices are going down.
2/4- Made it official- ending my job in July. Weird feeling...
Withdrawing from a few schools, as my list consolidates (UCLA, NYU, Cornell, Duke, Georgetown, UW).
1/30- Yay Michigan! Thank you Dean Zearfoss!!!!!!
1/25- Columbia acceptance with a Butler's Fellowship (est. 70,000).
1/22- Received UVa acceptance with Dean's Scholarship.
1/4- Saw "Darrow Scholarship Invitation" mailed on admitted students site. Got so excited that had celebratory cocktails before late haircut- now have bangs.
12/20- U Washington by mail. Thin envelope (so no worries, all)
12/13- Michigan to decision....finally! Now, to haunt the mailbox again...12/15- packet arrived with very nice handwritten note. Totally excited to play with CD (don't expect to get anything else productive done this weekend).
12/8- NYU packet arrived. Date of letter 12/3. Very cool.
12/3- UCLA packet arrived. Had missed phone call from admissions office on 11/26 (caller ID), so dating it from then
12/2- Status checker to decision on GULC. 12/7- acceptance letter with very nice handwritten note
11/26- Berkeley call from Dean Tom- flabbergasted at efficiency, given that only complete on 11/20. Very pleased that GPA not deal-breaker! Packet on 12/1
11/19- E-mail from Duke. Found self inappropriately singing ringtone (I Wanna Be Sedated) in grocery store. Guess I'm really going back to school.

Thanks and Congrats!

Thank you for the good luck! Your name is pretty awesome as well (and relevant considering the hour). Well done on the LSAT. Congratulations on Berkeley and Duke, and I am sure you will do well elsewhere as well.

Good luck

Similar numbers. Good luck to you

I have no clue what is going on with Michigan but I really think UCLA should let me in, I mean I go there! I'm just hoping it is the mail or something!

Congrats!

You're having a great cycle! I wish I was ready to withdraw from my backups already. Good luck with Harvard and all too!

Age
Monday, October 01 2007 at 08:00 PM

I'm 21 so not super young (at least I don't think so) :P I can relate to you about UVa, I was getting annoyed when UCLA hadn't let me in yet. Do you have a top choice yet?

Undecided
Monday, October 01 2007 at 08:00 PM

Still fairly undecided. I'll probably need to visit some places before choosing.

Chicago
Monday, October 01 2007 at 08:00 PM

Thanks! :) Hopefully you'll be hearing from them soon! :D

Thanks!

And congrats on Columbia! :)

Congrats!

This literally made me LOL: "1/4- Saw "Darrow Scholarship Invitation" mailed on admitted students site. Got so excited that had celebratory cocktails before late haircut- now have bangs." Congrats on Columbia (the scholarship, too!) and all your fantastic acceptances so far. Best of luck with the rest!

Darrow antici........pation!
Wednesday, December 19 2007 at 07:00 PM

I lol'd too when I saw your Darrow/booze/bangs reference. I checked my admitted student site again on Friday (ok, so I check it every day), and it said "Darrow Scholarship Invitation" AGAIN, this time with date 1/24. First got excited, then freaked out. Dean Z calls the people they make offers to, right? I feel like there's a letter making its way to my house that says "Thanks for applying. But no." Ugh. Does your admitted student site say the same thing? This is killing me! -mm Oh, and P.S., congrats on all your fantastic news so far!

I do the same thing...
Wednesday, December 19 2007 at 07:00 PM

...searching for big scholarships on the LSN Michigan acceptances. Every time I see one, I get all worked up, until I realize it's STILL one of the same 5 from two months ago. Anyway, the wait will soon be over. I kinda have a feeling today might be the day...although I say that every day. I'll show you my soft factors if you show me yours! J/k...I'll email you in a bit.

Good things come to those who wait.
Wednesday, December 19 2007 at 07:00 PM

Even if the wait is only one day. Congrats! P.S. I'm really not stalking your LSN. I'm just very excited for both of us!!

COngrats!
Saturday, October 20 2007 at 08:00 PM

On the Darrow today - that's awesome! No scissors for me (a drink or two) - hopefully you're in the midst of safely celebrating. I'm sure we'll meet up at some point- are you going to the Michigan ASW?

Thanks (UW)
Wednesday, December 06 2006 at 07:00 PM

You're the best

Congrats!
Monday, October 01 2007 at 08:00 PM

On Chicago!

Yay Chicago!
Wednesday, December 19 2007 at 07:00 PM

And the plot thickens... :)

Not really
Monday, October 01 2007 at 08:00 PM

I'm not really much closer to making a decision. What about you?

Beach = fabulous
Wednesday, December 19 2007 at 07:00 PM

And I wouldn't be so sure about you being done. S/H still have time see the light. Stranger things have happened!

Michigan
Monday, October 01 2007 at 08:00 PM

It was just kind of weird. The woman I talked to seemed kind of snippy and asked me some strange questions like why wasn't I involved in any activities my first quarter of college. I told her I'd had pneumonia so I was just concerned with trying to keep up with school and not end up in the hospital. I'm still not sure what it was about, I guess I'll find out soon enough...

Withdrawing...
Wednesday, December 19 2007 at 07:00 PM

I'm thinking of getting started on that too. Did you just send emails to the admissions offices?

Congrats!
Thursday, January 17 2008 at 07:00 PM

On all your great acceptances and scholarships. Good luck wherever you end up!

Michigan
Monday, October 01 2007 at 08:00 PM

It was just kind of a bizarre experience because I don't know why they'd call me if they weren't considering admitting me but I don't know why someone would be that antagonistic if they were. Maybe she was just in a bad mood? I guess I'll find out sometime. Good luck with making a decision! :)

Bored too...
Wednesday, December 19 2007 at 07:00 PM

I need another admissions decision fix. Still ironing out travel plans...darned Stanford hasn't sent any info about travel subsidy (and I'm sure not going anywhere without one!). In other news, I just found an old friend on LSN - didn't even know he was applying for law school. Go write on his wall! (M2008)

Combining Berk & Stan visits
Wednesday, December 19 2007 at 07:00 PM

That's my plan. Which is why I'm waiting to see how much travel $ Stan offers, and how strict their timeframe is. (I thikn Berk only gives like a 2 day margin around their ASW.) What did you talk about on the phone with the Mich student?

They could call...
Wednesday, December 19 2007 at 07:00 PM

but no one has yet. No biggie, though. I'm feeling pretty saturated (in a good way) with Michigan info at this point.

UCLA
Monday, October 01 2007 at 08:00 PM

Was the scholarship in the mail? I'm hoping for one.

Saturday, January 12 2008 at 07:00 PM

I'm actually going to the March ASW. I'm hurrying to make my decision!

Thanks re: Darrow
Thursday, March 08 2007 at 07:00 PM

I was basically speechless, which is probably better than the rambling that was going through my head. Congrats on the new bangs and the Darrow, and good luck with your decision!

Congrats
Wednesday, February 20 2008 at 07:00 PM

on your T14 acceptances!!

Congrats...
Sunday, January 28 2007 at 07:00 PM

on your Darrow as well! And money to the other T14s...nice.

Oregonian?
Thursday, December 27 2007 at 07:00 PM

same here. What school are you at? Also can I ask how you prepared for the LSAT? Congratulations! It must be so incredibly exciting to have the choices that you do! Well-deserved I"m sure!

Thanks!
Monday, October 01 2007 at 08:00 PM

I was really excited to get that. The Yale rejection was what I was expecting, so I wasn't too upset about that. Have you narrowed it down between those four yet?

Schools and stuff
Monday, October 01 2007 at 08:00 PM

I'm not really sure yet- I plan on visiting some this next month after I graduate. I'm not sure if I want to live in the northeast and deal with snow all the time, so some of the southern schools have that appeal. But Harvard is Harvard and that is appealing too. I like the schools that have bigger classes, like Texas and Harvard. I'm thinking more people to meet is always good and I'd be more likely to find some good friends than in a class of 150 or so. I wish I had that full ride offer to help influence my decisions- haha. The only one of the schools you're considering I know much about is Berkeley- it's in a very liberal area so if you're cool with that you'd probably like it. Have fun making your choice! :)
