My thoughts on schools/methods of acceptance in the order of acceptance:

Baylor:
Email on 12/1 (Saturday) with full tuition renewable if I maintain 2.6. Email said package to follow. Lovely package arrived 12/11 with really nice hand written note from Dean. What a nice touch!

William and Mary:
I never got a confirmation email that said I was complete. I did however get an email on 11/12 which said that they weren't a rolling admission school, so I shouldn't expect anything until March.
I got a thick, priority mail envelope on 12/1 which admitted me and offered me a $12,000/yr. scholarship. Although I could think of more pleasant places to live than Williamsburg, it's not a bad deal and I would have seriously considered their offer.

University of Minnesota:
Got a call from the Director of Admissions offering me admission (12/5/07). She said I would be receiving a big packet in a few days! Very exciting. I really thought it looked like a great school - with a number of programs that were very interesting - and I do like snow and cold. Loved the phone call. Got the package 12/10/07.

Miami: Small envelope. Received 12/10. No scholarship offer. Not impressed by packet. Seriously, the admissions dean couldn't be bothered to sign my acceptance letter? This is what robo pens are for... Received Dean's Merit Scholarship(dated 12/19) $69k over three years requires maintaining 3.0 average.

Virginia: Small envelope. Received 12/12. Early Decision. Thank goodness I'm done with this process.

WashU: Small, thin envelope. Received 12/17. Letter dated 12/3. Postmarked 12/13. I'd already sent a generic withdraw letter out last week - I feel bad that they crossed in the mail. Nice handwritten note from dean of admissions. I got an email 12/17 inviting me to participate in an admitted students chat - so I figured this was coming before I got the acceptance.

U of Illinois - Email 12/21 Just got an email saying that I should have gotten their package by now (which I hadn't). I feel bad about them not getting my letter withdrawing.

Columbia - Received letter 12/20 acknowleging receipt of withdrawal letter.

I received an unbelievable number of fee waivers - too many to list here for now. I had to keep a spreadsheet for them.

W & M $$

That was a great $$ package from W & M. Do you mind telling me, was that attached to one of their fellowships (the BOR, Law & Technology for instance)? When I interviewed with Dean Wixson, he said that fellowships were given to out of state applicants. Since you're in state, I'm curious to know if I misunderstood. How can a state school give fellowships ONLY to out-of-staters, anyway??
